Hi! I made a push-pull dc-dc converter which should convert 6.3v from 2 LiFepo4 in series to around 36-40v. I used SG3525. First I used 2+2 IRFB7434 switches, but they were heating up much, then I added more and created 4+4 IRFB7434 switching scheme. Switches and SG3525 are powered from 12v computer power supply. Wave on switches is square - I checked by oscilloscope. I connected gates through 4.7Ohm resistors and with reversed fast diodes in parallel to them. SG3525 circuit has "driver transistors" on it's output- 3A D772 and B882. For transformer core I used TP4A-T42-26-13mm ring. Winding is 4+4 primary and 29 turns of secondary. Rectifier on secondary - full bridge from 4 fast 8A diodes. By playing with frequency I found that optimal frequency for efficiency is around 9kHz. With increasing efficiency - output voltage drops under constant resistive load. I was loading it with 200w load. But even with such powerful mosfets they are heating up fast.... They are mounted on a big heat sink, Also transformer is not heating up much. After 1 minute of load it's only around 30-35 C, same as rectifier diodes are not heating up much too.... And efficiency is only around 75%. Do you have ideas why this may be happening? Maybe mosfets are fake, not original, and have bigger Rdson? Or maybe this core I used here is too big for a 200-300w power? Or maybe is should add some snubber circuits to mosfets and it will help? Or maybe it is notrmal that I have 75% efficiency with such small 6v input voltage for such transistors? (I wish I could reach 85-90% efficiency)....

As far as efficiency of a Push-Pull...is there any advantage to your topology (with a center tap secondary winding and two diodes) as opposed to secondary with no center tap feeding 4 diodes in bridge arrangement? Thanks, Steve

Very very interesting and useful. To choice the right transistor voltage, is it necessary to have a transistor with 900 V tension? Is it right?

How your doing better sir . If you can reply to my question I would be thankful, I rise my frequency to 250khz with a double EE5525 core the core is 1pound in weight but at 250khz the voltage dropping from 200volt to 175 volt is there a bad reason why this happens ,?

watch your primary side of your schematic ! Need for a more complex "basic" schematic. The driving unit have to have a Q and a -Q outputs
