81 Lesbian Film &TV Everyone Should Watch | Parts 1-3
Ойын-сауық
[Corrections below] Wow, I was surprised to see I made 81 recommendations over this Lesbian Starter Pack series! There surely has to be something for everyone. I put all the parts together because I figured it would be useful to have it all in one video for new and returning viewers.

* As per the comment by Camila Valore , the first brazilian kiss was in 1963 (!). Couldn't find a video of the kiss but here is an article: claudia.abril.com.br/famosos/...
* If you watched the original videos for the series, you may have caught some of my numerous mistakes (I do try, but lordy, me and details have an enemies to enemies relationship). I have corrected them as follows:
- Corrected the film Lianna (1983) from Lianne
- Corrected the film Desert Hearts (1985) from Desert Heart
- Added the year to The Half of It (2020) title card
- Added the umlaut to Mädchen in Uniform
- I corrected my mix up of names on the Golden Girls section
- Corrected Callie Tores on Grey's Anatomy for Callie Ramirez
- Corrected Cosima in Orphan Black from Cosmia
- Corrected the pronunciation of Scylla in Motherland Fort Salem

the brazilian telenovela Em Familia wasn't the first kiss, A Calúnia (1963) Vida Alves and Geórgia Gomide, Mulheres Apaixonadas (2003) Clara and Rafaela kiss in a play, Senhora do Destino (2004) Eleonora and Jenifer, Amor e Revolução (2011) Giselle Tigre and Luciana Vendramini. the most representatives kisses in brazilian tv was those, there're more but the one which have everything is on Felizes Para Sempre (2015) Denise and Marilia, got romance, spice scenes, drama all of it.

Amazing, thanks for providing the info! This means that Brazil had the first sapphic kiss on TV as far as I know, about 10 years before what I thought was the first in the early 1970's in Australia! I'll have to go make an ammendment note on my HIstory of Sapphic Film and TV video. Thank you!
The truth about Jane is such a comfort movie for me , and I've seen it at least 10 times
I know I've commented these shows before, but I don't care. I'm doing it again. "Lost Girl" and "Person of Interest" both shows normalized wlw relationships and didn't make a big deal about the gayness. C'mon, y'all! Also, I came SUPER LATE to, and now I'm rather obsessed with, the webseries, "Carmilla." Talk about representation as well as not making a big deal about the lgbtqia relationships. ❤️! Thank you, Canada 🇨🇦 for not killing off your queer characters!!!!

I think animation is sorely missing here. There's great animated shows like She-ra, Harley Quinn and Arcane that are really really good and deserve a mention

Yes. I'd add The Legend of Korra, which was kind of the Xena of animation in that they had to hint at Korra & Asami, especially with the finale of the two of them going off on vacation together to the Spirit World without their mutual ex-boyfriend and his brother tagging along. And The Owl House, which got to be more upfront with Luz & Amity's relationship, though since it was still supposed to be aimed at kids could only have some kisses & holding hands. Still hate that Disney cut it short since they like shows with stand alone episodes instead of serialized which they can air randomly between movies, so we didn't get a proper coming out scene for Luz. Still what they did was cute. Ms Mojo did a Top 20 animated WLW shows.

You forgot The Owl House - its high quality cartoon too with really cool world, well developed characters and interresting humor and later on FF relationship. My guess many ppl missed that bec. on first glance it looks like "for small kids" show, but even if you are adult its still great watch.
For tv, I also really liked the Sapphic romance between Root and Shaw in Person of Interest.
liberty's secret and girltrash: all night long are musicals. Liberty's secret is kind of cute and then girltrash is more comical with a happy ending. Both have a happy ending
*cries in Spanish for Pepa y Silvia* I would never forgive them from that ending....

One day I just came across their super edit. Out of nowhere. Suddenly I knew people like me existed, I had words and feelings to describe and understand myself. Watched everything. And then got destroyed at their ending.
I’d also add Disobedience, San Junipero, Tipping the Velvet, Tell it to the Bees, Summerland, Everything Sucks, Call the Midwife and Lip Service :)

So many missed good shows.
Liz in September, Elena Undone, and Raven’s Touch are some great movies.
thanks for this great video!! so many great recommendations... I would personally also add Atypical to this list because its such a great show and I absolutely love the ship in it (plus it's almost the main focus for an entire season)
tipping the velvet is also a great drama-comedy, all sarah waters adaptations are great, fingersmith, the handmaiden...
Wow… that’s what you call a comprehensive list ! Ps superbly narrated 😍
Thank you for your honest opinion about BlueITWColor. I feel the same! Not on my list of "best" films of any stripe.
I think these should have made it: movie "Kiss Me" and TV Shows: Lip Service and Verbotene Liebe
What a piece of work you've done! Thanks a lot 🙂
I'm not gay, but I have to say that for me the best on screen couples are lesbian couples. Thanks to the good respresentation I've learnt a lot of things that I used to say or do wrong. And now I would like to thing that I'm more open minded My apologies for all the bad things I made or said to the LGBTQ+ community. PS: my favourite movie is Carol and my favourite TV show is Wynonna Earp😍
I do recommend Bad Girls. It got darker over the years and I eventually stopped watching, but it was really good at the start. I’m sorry you did not like When Night is Falling. It is a bit problematic, but beautifully shot. Thank you for another great list!

Oh Pepa and Sylvia...my rule now is to just stop at the wedding I Dos. Also watch Anni and Jasmin if you haven't. It's another fizzle out plot line after they play out the relationship but definitely worth the watch.

I did try watching them a while back but for some reason it didn't grab me. I think I was a bit saturated on the soap front!
Not sure if this movie has been recommended before, but 'Below Her Mouth' from 2017 is a great lesbian movie. Starring: Natalie Krill and Erika Linder.
I Would also add Happiest Season to this list! Also Disobedience!
The Young and the Restless also had a wlw couple if you didn't know. Another good shout is Teenage Bounty Hunters

Great video! Thanks so much for including Otalia from Guiding Light. Indeed, it is the best slowburn, enemies to lovers story I’ve ever seen. The story was carefully crafted and despite the ridiculous no-kissing rule, the two actors generated so much authentic chemistry. Love them.

Add Vigil :) And Motherland: Fort Salem is kind of special because it ignores heteronormativity and, to my mind, resonates with what's happening in the world right now (terrorism, war, pandemic, and love above all)
as far as musicals go, you have Liberty's secret (already mentionned in the comments) and also la llamada (spanish movie). Both are nice to watch 🙂
I would add a movie called ‘Liberty’s Secret’ to the musical category.
Here’s a few I don’t think you mentioned. Lip Service 2010 British TV Show. Films: Claire of the Moon, Killing of Sister George, Bar Girls and More Beautiful for being Broken (free on YT).
Great compilation! You mentioned the Supercorp "SubtextShip that never become cannon" and I think that'd be a fun idea for a list video. (I tried to see if you've created something like that already, but came up empty.)

49:14 AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH I SCREAMED so loud that my neighbors came to look worried. I love that you know about Paco's and ANA and TERESA's men, they are great and it makes me angry that they don't get recognition for being one of the first couples to end well and together, and you have given them great recognition, I loved seeing them and see them in excellent company. There is another couple on Mexican TV who didn't know them or don't mention them but for me they were and will be a great couple who should receive more recognition because they were the first for me on Mexican TV, LAS APARICIO, WHERE Erendira Ibarra came from and grew up to be in the new Matrix, I LOVE their story and it seems like they never existed. well here I put them in the light of the public. thanks the summary is great there are several movies that I have to update, thanks for that too.

"Better than chocolate" is one of my favorite films
"The Gay Episode" section: Star Trek does not get nearly the credit it deserves as a show that pushed society and was far ahead of its time. My mum is a Trekkie and I often watched the series' with her. We were watching 'Rejoined' on ST:DSN when it aired and my 14-year old heart leapt out of my chest. I was not out, I didn't actually know what gay was, although I grew up around gay men. It was a non-issue in our family, so I had never heard a label for it. I always knew I liked girls, and my first kiss was with a girl when I was 6. But I had no references for Queer relationships or love and had never seen it on TV. This DSN episode was the first time I saw two women kiss on tv in a way that wasn't only a hint. To this day, it's one of my favourite TV episodes ever. *Spoiler* I remember telling my mum after the episode ended that I thought it was silly that Dax couldn't be with Lenara because of some silly rule about rekindling relationships from previous host experiences because Dax was still friends with someone who knew her in her previous host (Ben always called her 'Old Man' because of this). So if she could keep her friendship with Ben, why couldn't she be with Lenara? As noted, this kiss was next level (LOL I remember noticing the single strand of saliva between them when they broke apart, and I couldn't help thinking "Whoa, they were really going for it." This episode might be my gay awakening. Xena. There are no words for what this show means to queer women. That awesome dragon on Gabrielle's back in the last episode of the series? I have that dragon on my whole back. Legit.

I love this! I have a total soft spot for Rejoined too, even though I never managed to watch the series as a whole, I'm a Voyager gal, and wow, Gabrielle's Tattoo, that is awesome.
Warrior nun has to be on there!
Y’all, you gotta watch Dickinson. It’s so good. But also Clexa 😔
I remember watching Chica busca chica (Girl seeks girl) several years ago, it is a short tv series.
For the horror genre there is definitely a movie called “Perfection” pretty good gory and has a dark back story but there is some wlw in it. Also there is another horror movie as well called “5ive girls” I like the horror genre however it does have quite a bit of the trope Bury your gays.
Incredible, thank you so much
As in for Spanish TV shows with lesbian representation, I would also recommend Hospital Central. Similar to Grey's Anatomy in the sense of being set in a hospital, but actually focused on the character relationships, drama and development. There's the storyline of Maca and Esther, I think it's worth to check out. Also I'm not exactly sure, but I'd would say it happened before Los Hombres de Paco, but I really never watched this one. If it isn't earlier, then they are around the same era.

Black Mirror: San Junipero is a great Gay Episode! And some movies: Jennifer's Body (horror), Colette (drama), Tove (drama). (And web series, although they were not included in the video: Carmilla, and Brown Girls.)
How about the Spanish soap opera Acacias, there's a very followed ship, Maitino. Camino and Mayte have a great story back in another time when homosexuality was not accepted. You should watch their story

May I, suggest Bloomington (2010) for those who like Loving Annabelle (it's a teacher/student). For something more spicy is Below her mouth (2016). Another recommendation would be Heatwave (2022), I love Kat Graham. Then we have: Lost and Delirious (2001) Season of Love (2019) Happiest Season (2020) Love Classified (2022) (not good, not bad) You Can Live Forever (2022) TV Shows Atypical Gap Stupid Wife NCIS Hawaii Les De L Hoquei
Somehow Egymásra nézve (Another Way) (1982) always gets overlooked. It is a hard movie to watch and is not a happy ending, but as saphic romance it is up there. Also a lesson in history of an oppressed nation
Another category we could add is cartoons and animated series My recommendations would be Adventure time: distant lands ep2, Steven universe, She-ra and the princesses of power, The owl house and arcane.
What about Bad Girls the BBC show with Nikki and Helen.

Yeah, that's what I need...81 films about women who are having more fun with females than I am!
For musicals, Girl Trash All Night Long, and it stars the women from South Of Nowhere It’s silly and fun!
Brasil was in 2011 i guess, with Marina and Marcela, other soap, that was The First
Yeah, Pepa and Silvia ripped my heart out and stamped on it. As for Clexa, just watch the supercut of their scenes and then stick to fanfic, it has far superior writing. And Motherland Fort Salem can take some kind to get into by Raylla and Talder makes it worth it. And people should watch Nina's Heavenly Delights if you want a movie with a happy ending. And Willow has a queer couple. Disney may have taken the show off their site but you can still probably find someone who has it online.
The fact that I know all those mentioned here AND in the comments... 😅
