Welcome back! Love watching you! Shorts…I confess to watching them on my breaks at work. I can’t handle breaking a regular video up at work when I only have 10 minutes. I watch full length videos like this and Doug’s channel on weekends when I can watch the whole thing at once.

Doug, doesn’t there need to be at least some social media presence if you’re promoting Woodcarvers Illustrated magazine? We all love your videos and hope you keep doing many more.

First time on your chatting. Love that it's not rehearsed. Would love to see more of your work in this format but that's just my thoughts probably. I do use your tutorials over and over, pause so that I can make sure I follow each stroke. BTW, I'm still alive at 84. Thanks for the diversity and keep up with these coffee ☕️ videos.

Pretty good, guys. I like linseed oil and finish some of my solidbody guitars with it. The finish is soft, but blems are cleaned up very easily. My necks are also saturated with oil but first I go 600#, then give my buyer some real talcum to use on humid days. My next project is going to be in Osage Orange (yew) so any advice on tooling this fibrous stuff is appreciated. Advice on brushes: That chip brush (even with the nice Yachtsman fiber) is a piece. You can't beat natural fibers for oilbase work, and heaven forbid you must work in waterbase, the artificial fibers are better. For those times when you need a mop and are not cutting lines or laying out, the pickup and release characteristics of China Poland pig bristles are still really good.

I think the animal wood carver Alec is talking about is Jergen Lingl. He’s bavarian but based in France. He is phenomenal. His mounting and form is amazing.

I checked on the question of what is Tung Oil and found this... " Tung oil is made from pressed seeds from the nut of the tung tree. The tung tree, native to China, is named for its heart-shaped leaves because “tung” is Chinese for “heart.” Pure tung oil is considered a drying oil much like linseed, safflower, poppy and soybean oil and is known to have a slightly golden tint. Tung oil, which is actually a vegetable oil, is considered the best penetrating drying oil available due to its unique ability to wet the surface, allowing it to penetrate even the densest woods. Unlike linseed oil, it will not darken with age." Note that the latter part is actually an opinion, while their first is a statement of fact.

Grew up in the 70s 80s. Classic rock, folk music will always destroy the crap they put out now. Croce, Denver, Stevens, Zeppelin, Hendrix, CCR, etc. Closest we have today is Oliver Anthony and Ed Sherren. Songwriting is a lost art.

New to this channel, but have enjoyed Doug and his tutorials! What happened to the Sharonmyart channel? Been nine years. I always hand rubbed multiple coats boiled linseed oil on on the butternut I used for powderhorn plugs and stoppers. Leaves a beautiful finish. It protected the horns very well while out hunting, on the shooting line, or during historical outings. My go-to wood and finish. Sorry, but I'm not into shorts. I like content with the vocal processes no matter how long it takes. That is how one learns and processes what they hear and see. I've been both a volunteer civilian and military instructor. I've seen the learning differences. Enjoyed your show very much, take care!
