Thank you for your videos! I had my knee replacement on January 19, 2024, so I’m almost exactly one month behind you! I’m not quite to 4 weeks, but I’m still having considerable pain, including new nerve pains that burn like the dickens! Last night the pain got about as bad as the first night after surgery! But your honest videos make me feel like there is light at the end of the tunnel. Like you, I’m also looking forward to being out in my garden this Spring.

Just know that everyday that passes now will get a little easier, and I heard that from my physical therapists and also the dr. That 4 week mark smarts for sure and its all still really fresh around the incision. Not sure if your bandage is off your incision yet, but that was something that made a big difference for me. The Dr said he glued this tape stuff to the incision and it took a good time to wear off. It seems like it pulled alot on it. So good luck to you and I hope you recover quickly. Thank you for the very encouraging update. I just had my double knee replacement on Monday and returned home today. My pain has been minimal EXCEPT the act of standing up and sitting down. Quads were cut so that hurts a lot when I use them for those two acts. Walking and standing with the walker is actually easy. Best choice to have the surgery. God bless, Rob

I'm so glad I came across your videos. I am only one week in. I still have a while to go. Right now my leg feels as if it's burning when I stand up. I know it's probably my nerves. But it hurts so bad. I'm going to continue watching your videos to give me encouragement. Thank you so much.

Yes that first few weeks is a doozy. I am sorry for your pain. Just know it will get better.

I am so pleased that I found your video's. They have given me a bit of reassurance as I'm going for a total knee replacement in the near future. It's going to be robotic surgery so that's something else to worry about. You have done amazingly well, I only hope I have a similar experience. Thank you so much.

Hi, thank you so much for sharing your TKR experience. I just had my TKR on May 6, 2024. I have a lot of swelling. I have a lot of pain in my thigh. It’s funny because I call my home health physical therapist “ The lady that Tortures me”. She’s very nice but…. After her first visit I had to take a pain pill and elevate my leg with ice. It hurt all night. Today is my second visit I’m a little scared. lol Again thank you.

Boy I can relate to that with the physical therapist. Its kind of a love/hate relationship...lol. Maybe try taking the pain pills 30 min before starting the therapy. That seemed to help me more than when the pain is really bad. Keep up the good work, it will get better!

Thank you for sharing! I’m having TKR on 8-19-24 I’m concerned about how my swelling is going to be also seeing that I can’t take anti-inflammatories cause I’m allergic to them but praying that all will go OK.

Yes I found the swelling worse than the pain but Dr said it could last up to a year. I am just over 7 mos and swelling is all gone. Good luck

HI, I still have the swelling too. For the past few days, I have had a lot of pain. It feels like how my knee felt BEFORE my TKR. I'm feeling disappointed. My next appointment is march 19th. I still have to use the cam first thing in the morning to get out of bed but once I'm up and moving I don't need it. I'm also trying to catch myself when I limp.. Wishing you more good days.

Oh I am sorry to hear that about the pain. This is such a weird surgery. Has your Dr done any xrays yet to see what is going on inside? I hope it gets better soon. Take care!!!

I’m commenting for my husband who had his knee done 12-19. We found your videos at about 3 weeks into his recovery. They were so encouraging because he was going through the same things as you. The past two weeks there has definitely been a lot of improvement although the swelling and band of tightness is still there. In fact, we have scheduled his other knee for 4-8. We look forward to your 3 month update and have appreciated your encouraging and positive attitude. My husband wants to know how your other knee is and if it needs surgery?

Oh I am so glad to hear he is doing so well! And good luck with the second surgery. My other is knee is fine so far. The dr took xrays of both knees and the right knee was my only problem. I fell down some stairs in a parking garage a year before an injured my right knee, and then somehow last summer that injury escalated to a severe meniscus tear and a tear in my ACL and PCL. Ends up it was end stage arthritis, but I think it had something to do with that fall last year. So hopefully the other knee stays in place. haha you both take care!

@@homesteadpatch8663 Oh that’s so fortunate for you that you only have one knee to do! This process has been much tougher than we thought. But we know by next Spring we will be glad we did it! My husband has a good attitude like you and refers to physical therapy as physical torture! lol But we are grateful for the therapy and the exercises. Again thank you for your videos!

Hi Thankyou for sharing your experience of knee replacement surgery with us. I am a 74 year old lady from Yorkshire in England and desperately need both knees replacing so I'm reading up all I can find on the subject, I think you seem to be doing great really for 8 weeks. The main thing I'm concerned about is the swelling as my legs swell quite a bit anyway especially in warm weather which we do get occasionally over here!!. Will all the swelling go eventually or will it be a long-standing problem? I feel I can cope with the pain well hopefully anyway but I am concerned over the swelling. Thanks.x

I wish my journey with TKR was as good as yours. I’m in the hospital with a n infection in my TKR. I can’t walk. My surgery was January 8th.

very good, but I was also off balance the first few weeks so hopefully it improves for you too

I am having my right knee replaced Tuesday. It is so swollen right now. I am so worried about swelling after surgery when I have this much before. Did you have much swelling before. I think I have been overdoing it on some of the exercises.

I had swelling because i had some tears but the swelling is finally starting to subside some. The doctor told me that everyone is different and some people have more swelling after surgery than others but it will subside at some point. Good luck with your surgery. I recommend lots of ice and elevating your leg after

Glad you're doing well. Can you kneel? Will you ever be able to kneel?

I can kneel for short periods but its not comfortable. The Dr said at last visit kneeling is not something i should do much even later when its fully healed
