8 Week Old Golden Retriever Puppy

Our puppy Teddy is officially 8 weeks old and already learning so much! He won't stay this little forever so we wanted to capture him growing up.

Such an adorable puppy! He's a lot older now but it seems like he was only this old a little while ago. He's amazing. We got our puppy (Alpha) when he was 10 weeks and 6 days, so I have no idea how he was like when he was 8 weeks. Such an adorable puppy. He is too lucky to be with you. ❤️🐶

Too much stairs early on is said to be bad for them, bc big dogs r known to having hip dysplasia etc.. good for them to learn for sure. Once they’re too heavy to carry especially but too soon can do more harm then good but thats on you lol

What an adorable puppy. I have an 8 week old female golden retriever as well and OMGawd she is sooooo hyper active and she is constantly blighting everything especially us. Your puppy seems so chill compared to ours. Have u had any issues with him constantly blighting you?? I know she’s teething and I’ve been told she’ll grow out of it. But when I see your puppy and compare him to mine he is a lot more chill than mine

Teddy was and still is a huge chewer. We got him a lot of bones and toys to chew on. He would bite us (puppy teeth are sharp!) especially when he was feeling playful. Training him not to bite took a loooong time and now he only does it occasionally during play time. It's a lot easier now because he understands "no." One tip I saw a lot of when we were going through that phase was to yelp or make an injured noise so your puppy knows that she's biting too hard. I tried that with Teddy but that wasn't very successful. The biting seemed to naturally go away after his adult teeth came in. Just have patience and know that they don't mean to hurt you!

hi just be careful retrievers are to be kept away from stairs until 6 months old because of there fragile hips and joints will be a problem when older?

What kind of puppy food is that? I just got a golden a week or so ago and he hates his hard food and barley eats it so I’m looking for something else. Thanks!

At the time, we were giving him Pet Botanics Mini Training Reward Beef Flavor Dog Treats. They are pretty small, so he has since outgrown them.

I've a 8 weeks old puppy. He's loosing hair on his thighs, is that normal in this age? It's my first golden retriever

My 9 week golden retriever keeps biting and running after legs and then he’ll bark or do a playful growl but also tries to hump. He will have training classes at 10 weeks and he’s about to get a few more of his vaccines. If we have him out of the crate he seems to bite all the time and we have to be careful because he’ll go for hair, face and hands while we sit. Anyone else have these issues?

It’s so cruel to put dogs in crates! How would you like to be locked in a crate? I would never in a million years put my dogs in a cage! I care about my dogs, they have their own big dog bed

You're definitely entitled to your opinion, but we believe that crate training *when done properly* is not cruel. In our experience, it has given Teddy a safe spot for when he is feeling sick or scared. He is 8 months and rarely uses it, but when he does he seeks it out as a comfort spot. We never use the crate as a source of discipline.

Dogs love crates! They feel secure in it. I would love my crate if I were a dog
