Tbh as asian itself i can relate to her story, having a curly hair always consider as “damage hair” just because most of asian have straight line hair while mine is wavy curl hair. I never knew i have curly hair till i found about curly hair method in 2019 and i started applying these method since 2019. Ngl i f love my curls now because it is so unique. All girls have their own curls. Now the one who keep pointing about my ‘damage hair’ amazed because im no longer afraid to keep my hair long and embrace my natural curl. To those who is still insecure with your curls trust me once u accept the fact u have curly hair and learn to love it then it will look stunning on you. They are not damage honey they just need a love from you. ( i have curtain bangs too )

They probably called it “damaged” because it was frizzier when you didn’t know how to manage it. Generally speaking, it’s actually quite rare for people to have super bone straight hair, I feel like at least 90% of people have at LEAST some sort of wave to their hair. Also, I think the word you are looking for is “myself”. The word “itself” refers to objects. :)

same but in my case i actually thought that i have damaged hair because everybody around me have straight hair nd in tv shows everyone has silky smooth hair or very beautiful wavy hair,,, maybe i was just 14 or 15 so i assumed i'm the unlucky one and was always insecure about my hair, look😑🥺,,,,,,, but recently i got to know that our hair is not the damaged one we just have to take care it a bit little more than others as it has curly structures . those days i wished to have only straight hair but now im in love with my wavy curls nd with myself too ☺😌 now for me i'm the luckiest one with these curls ❤❤( and pardon me if i said anything wrong as english isn't my native language.)

So relatable 😭 I have 2A wavy hair and I've been told often that my hair looks damaged even though I've never used heat or hair coloring. Growing up I felt ugly and inferior compared to other asians who had straight silky hair. Hair oils never worked for me. I'm so glad that I found your video
As a fellow curly/wavy Chinese girl with siblings that have silky straight hair - YOU have gorgeous hair. I heard it too from everyone and even got a razor (literally a box razor) cut from my uncle in our garage from lack of combing it because I literally did not know how to work it! I just learned this year and girl. I loved your tips and what I’ve learned has helped so much ❤️❤️❤️
Your hair is so gorgeous! Thank you for including OLAPLEX in your hair care routine, Hang! 🥰✨

Omg! I love your products! 🥺❤️ thank you for making awesome products and would love the possibility of working together on your upcoming campaigns this year!
I'm here learning for my daughter. Her hair is curly I'm thinking cuz its really thick. She loves the idea of straight hair so she'll brush it so hard and it'll just get really fluffy looking. She wants straight hair. But I think if we learn how to do this together.. She'll love her curls.

That's so beautiful 😊
Yessss! Another Asian girl who is embracing her wavy hair!! I relate with you girl! I would brush my hair everyday like straight hair and it would just turn out frizzy and poofy. I’m a viet girl too, who struggled looking different from most of my family. The shaming is real 🙄 but its okay because I am embracing myself now. I learned that beauty is just a subjective concept 🤷🏻♀️ and thanks for the tips! I’ve been looking for more Asian girls with wavy hair because I feel like our hair is different than the majority because half of my hair wants to be straight some days.
Finding your channel has literally been a life changer. I’m a 17 yr old girl who has spent their entire life hating their hair. I’m half Chinese, half American with hair that is dark brown and wavy/curly. I’ve put it into a bun or ponytail every day of my life since 2nd grade because I hated it-it’s poofy and frizzy and just didn’t look like anyone else’s. You are the first person I’ve found with my hair type and I almost cried watching your videos because I finally am starting to understand what I need to do to take care of my big head of hair. I’m still trying to decide if curtain bangs will look good on me, but you have been a life changer. This Christmas, im going to be asking for a lot of hair products and things you’ve been using. My New Year’s Resolution is going to be to take care of my hair and wear it down for my high school graduation. Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️
I had similar experiences growing up in an Asian family! My mom thought my hair was dirty and yelled at me for not shampooing my hair in the shower, even though I cleaned my hair everyday. She thought I never brushed it, even though I brushed it twice everyday. But I now know that brushing and shampooing my hair everyday was the reason it looked the way it did! I didn't discover that I had wavy hair until I was in my late 20s!
Can we just acknowledge the fact that most of us Asians have a hard time with our salon ladies trying to tell us they know our hair better than we do and then go on to say the exact opposite of what our hair really needs? Especially with wavy/curly hair. Like ma’am please let my hair live it’s best because that’s how I was made and you can’t trash talk me into thinking it’s damaged when it’s not! Do your research woman!!
Yes. Finding a hairstylist that knows how to care for your hair is so important! I relate so much to your story. I remember being told that my hair was so damaged, when i rarely used any heat. The truth was that my hair is wavy, and obviously, as the stylist was brushing it, it became frizzy.

I'm so happy that natural hair is becoming a trend, especially in asia because people would always say that I should rebond or straighten my hair. it was when I got to college that I embrace my natural hair😆 I didn't even know I had curls.
@summeri3

me too! they only knew to suggest rebonding
Wow the Asian hairdresser story was so painfully relatable! I live in South Korea and they always pointed out my wavy hair and almost forced me to straighten my hair 🤦🏻♀️ I hated my hair so much until I saw curly girl method from youtue
im asian and i have the same hair, was laughed at and used to straighten it all the time. it made me feel so bad but now i embraced my waves and its the best thing ever
Your hair is SO BEAUTIFUL. With such gorgeous hair like that you don't need heat at all!
I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with that stylist! As a stylist myself this is exactly why I feel like we should be teaching every stylist how to handle ALL different hair textures! Everyone's hair is unique and the more we understand about different hair types and textures the better equipped we are to make our clients happy and to treat them with understanding and kindness. Your hair is beautiful, wishing you luck on your continued hair journey!

@@xxcarlyy9786 unfortunately it's really hard to give advice when I can't actually see/touch your hair in person! But in general, 2A hair tends to be finer in texture (I don't know if yours is, you'll have to decide for yourself) so you'll want to be gentle with it by brushing gently and minimizing hot tool use which can disrupt your wave pattern. I'd also use lighter-weight products so you don't weigh it down (which will pull the wave out). Try using some combination of a leave-in conditioner (there are plenty of very affordable options, make sure it's water-based with no silicone and has some kind of nourishing natural oil) and maybe a styling foam or mousse for definition. I work at an Aveda-partnered salon, and I'd use Nutriplenish leave in and Phomollient foam for you probably (again, can't tell you for sure without seeing you). OH! And use a heat protectant whenever you do heat styling (Nutriplenish works for that too).

A universal experience 🤣
Your hairdresser probably told you but dandruff is a yellowy fungus and has a scent- i thought i had dandruff too it was just dry skin flakes! My stylist told me dandruff shampoo will make it worse. I started using hydrating shampoo + condish and a rubber scalp brush for washing and i add some coconut oil to roots before washing when it really needs it and no more flakes!❤️❤️❤️
After years of trying to figure my hair out i finally found a routine that works for me. Focusing on detangling and cleansing my hair have made the biggest difference for me. If you live in a place with few curly hair products you know the struggle, but I'm making the most of it .
Omggg I’m back from the other video and your hair looks so amazing !!!!! 😍😍😍 I’m trying to do no heat this month too!!! We got this!!!

How is your hair journey going? 😊 I'm on the same path!
Good video girl girl I know I've been in my Hair transitioning stage for 3 years now and my hair has changed so much My main problem wasn't so much heat damage it was chemically damaged I would dye my hair so often so now I try to go longer without dying it and deep condition my hair and just doing those two things made a difference 😊
Recently purchased and used those same shears off of Amazon and omg, I love them! Trimming your dead ends is super crucial for the growth and the health of your hair. It can be so expensive to go get a trim so doing it at home can be super beneficial for some people. Thanks for the tips!
Listening to you feels so relaxing. You're a lovely girl, thanks for the tips!
Love the curly hair era 😩🤍 perfect timing too 🌷
Thank you for this vid… I just discovered I have waves and seeing what your hair looks like with no product made me feel so much better bc that’s how mine looks without product too, I always wondered why every brushing just made my hair frizzzzzyyyy and it started really frustrating me, thanks for the tips and product recs! Will def be trying them out.

YESSS FINALLY THIS HELPED SO MUCH I HAVE LIKE WAVY HAIR AND ITS JUST HARD BUT TYSM THIS REALLY HELPEDDD

I needed this! I have been struggling with my hair for so long, it’s super dry and frizzy with a slight curl so I always use heat but I’m going to try to let the curls go, you’ve inspired me!!

Hang, your experience echoes with me! I always hated my hair because I was always told it's frizzy, dry, and unruly. For years, I've been styling it with heat so that I can love it. One day, I realized how damaged it has become. That's what started me on my journey to learning about how to style and love my hair the way it is. I am still learning, and I'm glad to have discovered your channel. Our hair is very similar! Thanks for all the tips and looking forward to learning a lot from you. PS - I thought you were a teenager!😄

🥺comments like these encourage me to keep sharing and making videos. thank you so much!
Thanks so much! I just started styling my hair wavy and this helped a lot!😁😁
Oh my gosh thank you for uploading this! My hair is very similar to yours but thicker. My mum has apparently the same texture as me but growing up she always had hers straightened and made fun of me because I tried to style it the way you would with straight hair (I brushed my hair a lot which I recently learnt is bad for frizz, bc of this I got the nickname Hagrid-) she never taught me how to take proper care of my curls and my hair (much like her,) doesn’t look the best straightened- it’s very straw looking when straight. Videos like these are so helpful because I’m trying to fix the years of damage and neglect that has happened to my hair- such a great video!
Love your video. It's not too much like other videos I've watched. Thank you!
I lost my curls and been thinking how to make it more stronger since mine is very fragile. So glad I see this :)
Trimming regularly really helped me a lot thank you so much 💞🌹
Love all of these tips🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 my curl pattern is a lot like yours and Its thick and high porosity. I’ve recently added ACV rinses to my wash days and its made so much difference in scalp care and specially in shine cuz it balances the PH in the hair 🙌🏻 totally recommend for us wavies :)
I’m not a wavy girl at all but your hair, glasses & face are to die for! Xo 😽

Thank you for the tips. I just learned that Olaplex 3 stops working once it’s no longer damp, so putting is on dry hair and leaving overnight doesn’t give you much more than 10-20 minutes of use.
If you have dandruff or have one wash day a week I recommend exfoliating your scalp. There are a lot of good products and videos out there. For my DIYers mix sugar and olive oil into a paste and scrub!

Heatless journey! Here we go!!!
My hair is more wavy than curly but I’m really curious to see how it changes if I use the right products. I’ve been wanting to focus more on my hair, thank you for these great tips!
OMG i feel you, thanks for sharing your hair journey
I feel you with the "damage" part..
Thank you, your videos are unbelievably helpful to me! I feel like my waves completely disappear halfway through the week. I was born with curly hair that gradually turned wavy but I'm struggling so much with trying to maintain it. If you don't mind, how often do you comb your hair in a week?
@Hangtw
2 жыл бұрын
That’s actually normal cause mine does it too! ☺️ By midweek, I’ll comb it and it looks a lot like my blow out styles (big loose waves). If you want to refresh and make it look like day 1, mist hair with water section by section then scrunch or finger roll, and it should get you some definition again!
Wavy hair is so pretty I can't believe some people don't like it
Your hair is so pretty!! This video couldn’t have come at a perfect time, I’m really struggling with my waves and usually in the curly girl community you tend to get advice for curls rather than waves

Try the 'Ion Healthy Scalp Leave-In Treatment' ! It's super nice if you have issues with dandruff or dry scalp and doesn't leave your hair looking oily! Amazing product imo. Also your hair is gorgeous! 💫
I’m so happy I was recommended this video 🥺 I’ve literally never have seen a tutorial by someone with hair so similar to my own. Thank you for sharing your experience and tips ♥️
My hair is very slightly wavy and extremely frizzy, so when my hair gets too frizzy, it consumes the little waviness that is there and my hair just ends up looking both flat and frizzy at the same time. It honestly just looks so bad most of the time and idk what to do. I don’t have the energy to style it in the mornings and I’m too scared to put products in it because my hair completely loses its sh!t every time I do literally anything to it. If I wash it (and use hair masks and conditioner) it gets frizzy. If I brush it, it gets frizzy. If I put anti-frizz spray in it, it gets frizzy. If I put moisturizing spray or cream in it, it gets frizzy. I’m getting kind of sick of my hair looking like I just tromped through a thorn bush all the time. The best part is, my hair usually looks its worst whenever I have to go out in public, but when I’m at home by myself it will be looking fantastic. Does anyone else have the same problems?
@ellamat1278

Yep, me. And i have dandruff so an everyday wash is an absolute must.
@chickennuggetpaw
Жыл бұрын
@@ellamat1278 since making this comment I’ve kind of figured out a better way to make my hair look decent. Hopefully this will work for you too, bc I’ve been able to start washing my hair more often since starting this without it making my hair dry and frizzy like normal. What I do is when I shower, I’ll use conditioner, leave it in for a couple minutes, rise it, use a hair mask, leave it in for as long as possible (you can just follow the instructions on the packaging- mine is from Raw Sugar and says to leave it in for 5-10 mins), and rinse that out. Then when I get out, I use a T-shirt to dry my hair bc apparently that’s easier on dry hair types?? Idk if it actually works, but it can’t hurt. After it’s dry, I’ll brush my hair just to detangle it (don’t brush it while it’s dry!!) and put in a little leave-in-conditioner. THEN I put in a curling cream. One mistake I was making before is that with curling cream you’re supposed to use a diffuser on your hair after. I don’t want to heat damage my hair, so I opt to scrunch my hair up into waves manually and let it air dry. It works just the same tbh. I always do this the night before bc I’m too tired to do it in the morning, so if you do the same thing, make sure in the morning to do this one simple step: your hair will probably be messed up again from sleeping on it, so wet it a little in the sink, and scrunch it up a second time, and the waves should come back. The water both smooths down any frizz and reactivates the curling cream to make it wavy again. Hope this helps you! :)
Reminder that these tips won't work for everyone and that you're not doing something wrong if they don't. I have dandruff and I'm a curly girl so the 'don't shampoo and use prewash' does NOT work for me. A lot of prewash is too greasy and makes my dandruff worse. There are a lot of shampoos that work for dry/dandruff scalps you can use every day/ every other day and still have gorgeous curls. I use a jojoba bar from lush personally. As long as you are using after shower conditioner and moisturizers when your hair is wet or damp you will not get dry hair.
Girl you are so gorgeous!
im really happy i found your channel, we have similar hair type and since highschool, i always go to a salon to straightened my hair. Now im planning to cut my hair short because im tired of people making fun of my hair 😩
Ooo yay I don’t see many wavy hair vids like this!!
One thing you can do to help with shampoo stripping your hair is conditioning first and then shampooing
I loved this video so so much !!!
'I give you fiiive minutes'!!! Aww glad I finally checked out your youtube channel!! Ya girl's got wavy hair!!! Me too! Although I'm still (unsuccessfully) trying to wear my hair 'naturally'
My 2024 resolution is to get a glow up. My hairs are just same as you like frizzy. I must have watched your basically all the videos in these 4-5 days which contains the hair maintaining based videos and shorts. I will be trying it now in this December. If it works in 2-4 wash/try. Then problem to research for healthy hair is done. So happy how i found ur channel on perfect time !~ Xoxo 🤍🌷
You can also put oil on the ends when it feels dry instead of trimming it. Especially if you want your hair to grow out.
i swear to god that as a japanese girl is so hard to embrace my wavy hair and keep my hair away from straighteners. since i was a kid i just wished to have naturally straight hair. i hope some i could love my natural hair.
Yes! Before I realized my hairs true texture I would go to the salon and just ask for them to cut off the damaged parts and they would always cut all my hair off. I was so confused. How is it all damaged when I don't do anything damaging to it. Turns out I have waves and my hair was THIRSTY.
Awesome tips!!!

This answers so many questions. I always notice that when I go on summer holiday my waves get wavier, and more full and healthy looking and I always chopped it down to the salt in the sea and humidity. I just bought a hair mask a few days ago but it hasn't done anything for my curls yet, it has made my hair shinier and smoother, but my waves are still weird. Gotta try those moisturizers.
Where are your glasses from?!! I love them so much
TRY A COWASH, makes my hair feel soooo amazing and doesn’t make my hair oily at all and i have normal to dry very thick black hair. and my hair started going gray so it’s a little more dry lately, but cowash reallllyyyyyyy helps.
yeah it makes me super sad cuz everytime i went to the salon they'll make mean comments like you just said. i cried so much the last time i went to the salon in front of my husb bcoz of the hairstylist's comment. my hair condition worsen post giving birth and ive been enduring it for almost two years cuz im busy coping up with motherhood. until i had courage to go to the salon, i think i got myself ready for the worst but i guess not. usually i just try to just act okay but this time it just hurt me so much that i cried my eyes out. im just a tired mother who just wanted to start taking care of my body back. hopefully one day i'll find myself a hairstylist like yours
Thanks for making the video!
I think the video really helped me thank you very much

Your hair is so pretty! 🥰 I have 2A wavy hair (not as wavy/curly like yours, mine just look like 'beachy s-waves'). And I feel you on the everyone thinking your hair was damaged when you didn't know how to take care of it! I went through that too! Because I would always just blow dry my hair straight, use the wrong products (for me silicone free and sulfate free is the best, but I used to use a lot of sulfates and silicones 😬).. so my hair just never looked it's best back then. It looked dry and like it never 'layed right'. But I finally know now how to take care of my hair and natural waves and my hair has never looked better. 😄

Just found your channel, you are SO pretty 🥰
I love Crisan hair oil for fine wavy hair and it’s good for all hair types. I would love to see you do a review on it.
your hair literally looks like mine lol. I'll definitely be following up with the channel because I need all the help I can get making it look better. Btw is yours low porosity and if so do you still recommend using leave-in, mine is and I'm afraid of weighing it down.
How do you approach brushing your hair? Theoretically, If I don't brush at the roots they might get oily, especially if I don't wash everyday. And using a regular brush which might distribute the oils better is not best for refreshing curls/waves, I assume. So neat to see a wavy hair video for once! :)
Your smile is gorgeous
Any tips on how to find a good hairdresser? What sort of things do you look for? Thanks!

I found mine by scrolling IG and through someone who knew them. Most hairdressers post their work online too so I check to see what kind of hair they usually do. After that I give them a try and see how I like it. It’s kinda like dating 😅
You are so adorable. Thank you for sharing.
I've wanted manes-by-mel-curls and have been desperately trying to get that texture but your waves look just like mine and i think yours is so pretty 😍 🥺 I've gotta do better for what i actually have and stop trying to be what i want
(from what I've learned from other videos) ik this is a year ago but you should only shampoo your roots and not your ends which is probably why your hair is more dry on the ends and you should shampoo twice(the shampoo from your roots should be enough to wash your ends) , also try pre wash oil treatments that could also help, or try the sandwich method where you condition your hair then shampoo and then condition again (also if any of this is wrong plz correct me)
The local asian hairdressers are so so so weirdly cruel and rude in the name of being honest. They are never gentle with my hair and hurts so much, now I cut them myself and take care of them myself, they kept recommending weird costly shit to me. It hurts so much most of them do not even know how to do hair at all, they point out all the negatives about your hair and are so after the money. Most of the people already know what their hair are like, i dont know why they keep pointing it out the entire time, feels like torture.
this is very helpful thank you
