The emotions that Alexandre is expressing at 3:03 is one of the best feelings you can have. You fight hard for the grip, you power through the technique and when the opponent finally hits the floor, all that tension releases in a rush because you fkn beast did it.

One time I won freestyle state handily. The next week I went to the state Greco tournament and faced a first year wrestler in the finals. He headlocked me and pinned me in the first 30 seconds. I later found out he was nationally ranked in Judo.

@@johnomara849 There aren't many Kosen judo schools in the US, but even Olympic style judo is super useful. Idk if you do MMA at all, but I always tell people that judo will make you a monster at staying on your feet, in addition to brutal and fast submissions immediately after takedown

@@Kitajima2 I just coach wrestling now. I’m more interested in getting into no-gi Ju Jitsu than Judo. I don’t think I’ll ever transition into MMA. I’ve had my head knocked around enough in my life and my knees are fucked anyway lol.
That Ippon Seoi Nage was just perfect. I don't even see attempts in competitions, let alone something as well executed as that.

Am I missing something? It seems like all these "fights" end when a back touches the mat. Is that the point of Judo? Because I've won as many fights from the ground as I have while standing. In 75% of these, I kept thinking 'Raise the knee to the back of the jaw while grounded and the fight is done.' I was considering taking judo, but if *THIS* is what constitutes a win, then I would be better off with BJJ.
great edits keep it up
Great compilation of beautifully executed techiques! However, if I may correct one thing, the technique of Kamal Magomedov against his Cuban (I think) opponent is not deashi harai but kosotogari. Keep up the good job and thank you for uploading it.

I too miss my judo now - but only at local club level. Used to help coach youngsters and adults, then qualified as an instructor (on the same instructors' course as Neil Adams and Vass Morrison in 1976 at the College of P.E). Enjoyed teaching in South London in the 70s, 80's and 90's.

Referee called waza ari which doesn't end the fight so the blue Judoka continued on the ground to try and get anything going (pin, arm lock or strangle). The referee calls mate as it was going nowhere and then changes his decision from Wasa ari to ippon, meaning blue won the fight.
For some reason, 1:37 just cracked me up! They are squirming so much

What happened at 1:42 ?
Am a Chechen and I was Norwegian champions in Judo in age of 15 and then I quite it because I hade no one to drive me to training then I switched to boxing but I miss Judo more then anything
I could never do Osoto Gari no matter how much I practiced it. I was too skinny and I could not generate the sweeping power in my legs. That said a failed Ostoto Gari can lead to a nice Sae sae tsukiru komi ashi if one is quick enough. That did not happen very often either but when it did it was sweet. I was lousy at judo - too skinny and too light but I loved it.
Just imagine if that was concrete

I once fell on the sidewalk after crossing the street. The zempo kaiten ukemi saved me from stamping my face on the concrete. I only got a little scratch on my arm.
The set up for that okuri ashi barai is a testament that there’s is a lot of iq needed to be an elite judoka. Judo requires so much intelligence in order for it to be effective......
👍👍👍
Where is ILIAS ILIADIS?
偵察機喔欸恩 才遲才👌💪
One question from judokas I mean no disrespect but in most judo videos I see not much happens especially in the higher weight classes someone wins with one or two points So is that always the case or is it because they are at such high level that they cannot execute that many moves Again I love judo and plan to start training this year
As a yellow belt judo quitter i must say it can be fun getting thrown especially if the opponents throw is absolute perfect. It is like you slip through without any struggle just like an oiled gear, frictionless. I will end up lying down a short while saying what the hell was that just like the guy on 2:19
1:41 what are they doing ?

Judy chop
To my mind, it may be worth a full point, but it's not "perfect" if the thrower does not keep his balance and ends up down on the mat - unless he intended it.
Because UFC competitors wear non holdable clothing (lycra etc) judo remains virtually untested in MMA. If they ever hold a street clothing MMA event, judo fighters of this level with striking skills will be at the top.
