Titanium is very expensive to work, so anything made of it will be expensive not because of the metal but the cost of manufacturing. Titanium can bend back over time, which is why it can't be used for certain applications, and can for Nitinol (memory wire) the gasket actually has a function, the ideal case is a hard outer shell, whose job it is to break and absorb the shock for your phone, with a soft inner bumper around the phone, see MIT's research on sea creature shells for why. Either way, the phone survived, that's what mattered.

From an engineers viewpoint the case rubber case which falls off during impact is better. Because it is a softer material it absorbs more of the fall, thus protecting the phone. Because it falls of most of the kinetic energy is converted back to kinetic energy, and not absorbed by the phone. If the phone has to absorb the energy it will create mechanical stress in its structure and most likely break, or weaken. From the outside it might look good, but you never did switched them back on after the drops, so they might not work. The Plus being bigger and heavier means it's also more prone to damage, therefore it still being intact speaks very highly of the 8$ case.

D4B 4 L1F3 hardness have nothing to do with this. steel can be bend by concrete if you hit concre with enough force, titanium isn't stronger then steel.

Yeah the hardness scale is really only for what can scratch what. First, concrete can have all kinds of impurities stuck in it and having force behind the impact would scratch the titanium anyway.

Here after the iPhone 15 Pro announcement. “I think titanium is literally the next metal I want my iPhone case to be made out of.” Well, now your iPhone itself can be made out of titanium.

Imagine having a case more expensive than your phone.

it's loose and not sitting perfectly in place because you didn't put the carbon fiber part at the back... they didn't give that shit as an option it's meant to be there

Kyle Cook i know only rich people can afford it but it will cost more then 2 grand. In the video u saw only side protector cost 1 grand. Imagine how much it will cost if the whole housing is titanium.

Can you try this out please ; So as you know iPhones usually charge slow and most people use iPad adapter but what if you use a MacBook pro 2016 one and what you need to do is get a USB-C to Lightning cable and connect one end to the iPhone and the other one to the MacBook pro adapter which is like 80W and see if it will charge or explode who knows Leave a like so EAP can try this out ....

FUSION BEAT Because it will make no difference and just charge at it's limit, USB-C fast charge will be superior regardless. My guess is that the iPhone 8 will have Lightning 2.0 with Fast Charge capabilities
