8 iconic guitar riffs, ranging from 1967 to 2013, if they were written by Dire Straits.
This was a fun one to figure out, especially the transitioning between songs. I had to think of the tempo and the keys of the songs, but I feel like I made it work decently.
Most of them are with the typical clean stratocaster sound, and two on the Les Paul. The first one reminding of Brothers in Arms and the second one of the heavy hitting 'Money For Nothing'.
Which one do you think worked best? And which ones did I miss that would have worked?
▶Guitars◀
- Fender Vintera Stratocaster
- Epiphone Les Paul Classic
▶AMP◀
- Fender Blues junior
▶Effects◀
- TC Electronics Flashback delay
- MXR Dyna Comp Compressor (only on the stratocaster)
- EHX Volume pedal (only for Smooth)
- OCD Fulltone overdrive (only for Crazy Train)
- Dunlop Crybaby Wah (only for Crazy Train)

The Trooper sounded so cool, but Losing My Religion sounded so pretty ❤❤❤
An alternative universe where Dire Straits didn’t retire and swapped out some musicians along the way 👍🏻

Some a better fit than others 😂
I think a longer full version of Losing My Religion will go viral... that was an interesting sound

Thanks, have a good one!
I discovered this channel recently but i really don't understand why it doesn't lift up to the millions of subscriptions it deserves!
Fact: everything would sound better if it were written by Dire Straits!
Smooth = Brothers in Arms style? Absolute joy listening to you 👍👍👍

Brothers in Arms? Okay .... Well you got Lazlo's blessing so can't really argue .. Nevertheless to me it struck more a 'you and your friend' kind a vibe
You need to do a full versión of Losing my religion, that sounded so awesome!
Layla effectively unchanged, that tells me something, not sure exactly what though

Mark has played the main riff of Layla several times when supporting Clapton on stage. I think that's why it doesn't change a lot.
I'd love to hear you play a full length instrumental version of "Losing my religion" in that same style. That was fantastic!
Du machst wirklich süchtig. Amazing ❤
For sure Losing my religion needs a full video.
I absolutely love these videos ❤ I can watch them over and over again 😍 ❤️ pure class 👏
Out of all of those, the REM one sounded best. (They’re all good) 👍🏻👍🏻
Oooh you are a very Smooth man..😊
I WANT THE WHOLE VERSION OF CRAZY TRAIN!!!!!!!! 😀🤣😎
Your riffs sound so good and so right, it's hard to remember how they sounded originally. It like someone copied you and didn't do it quite so well.
Smooth!
Gracias gracias y gracias Laszlo. 🥂👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💜🌹🍀
all great as usual glad to see you are still at it.

Yeah, I was suprised at how well that worked! Thanks!
Lord what I'd give to hear you cover more of R.E.M.'s work, especially from Monster, New Adventures in Hi-Fi and Accelerate
Losing My Religion was my fave. Any chance of you doing the whole song?
They were all fab, thank you. But…….Losing my religion is worth doing a whole track. That sounded absolutely amazing.

Layla gave me chills! I’d love to hear Walking in Memphis as Marc would do it, or Wicked Game!

There is actually a version of Layla on youtube where Mark plays the lead guitar on Layla for a bit. You should check it out. The Prince's Trust Rock Gala 1988. The way he makes it his own is instantly recognizeable as Mark Knopfler.
As always awesome 👍
Fire like always 👌👌🔥🔥🔥🔥
Dude!!! Totally brilliant!
Can WE a full version of Layla and the Trooper ?

It sounds a bit like “put your lights on” from the same album kzread.info/dash/bejne/fXd2tZd-pNbgiaw.html
i wonder if the Knopfler riff is drastically different that Clapton's on Layla
Hey Laszlo, really awesome!!! You're absolutely skilled. I keep listening your songs over and over again. Thank's for the music. "Seven deadly sins" of Simple Minds as a DS - riff could also sound amazing. Or maybe some Huey Lewis stuff. I just read, that you're working on a record. Please produce your songs also as CD in good sound quality. I'll certainly buy it! Keep on with the good DS - sound! Best regards
Never thought I'd hear Knopfler play Santana's later riffs

And you likely never will.
this sound so good! Maybe you can try recreate Dire Straits demos? Like Bernadette or What's the matter with you baby?
Layla sounds pretty damn close to the original
Как ты это делаешь? Просто супер!!!
Mark and Maiden Tour - 2024

That was pretty amazing as always. I always hated "Losing My Religion," but I would love to hear it in that style and ideally without Stipe on vocals.
7na should have had some money for nothing distortion
