Hey, when you don't have the special tool and limited on time, one of these should work. I'd add finding a small screwdriver you can get in and turn. Nice job! Dennis

These methods are fine for something that you don’t expect to work properly again.

wow.. rough crowd in here today.. 4up/4down??? That was pretty funny actually. Before buying the correct tool for these, I've employed a couple of those methods.🤪

Thanks at least one less destructive method here with the dremel tool may work well on a Bristol head screw,6 point with round hub in center,thanks.

If the screw top is exposed, it is easy to remove. I have a marantz amplifier which has 10 recessed torx screws. I managed to remove 4 using a wrong size torx driver and small flat blade screw driver. There is no way out except using the right size driver. I do not want destroy my amp. Any idea?

I think there's (gotta be) a safety torx bit that will fit around the center pin - I'm up against the same problem with a Ryobi battery and it's worse, the screws are recessed in the housing beyond the reach of the Dremel. PISSEZ ME RIGHT OFF! Gotta say - WTF decided to outfit the battery with four safety torx screws?!? grrrr

Why they ever put these in service is beyond me when every auto shop in the land has the right bits to take care of these. Beyond me a bunch for sure. Like when torx came to be. Why did we need to get another new fastener eh. Thanks for the chuckle bud.

Its funny if you ever attempted to remove security screws without the proper tools.. so in that sense, yes. Perhaps you have never have been in that position. Cheers
