Hi Andreea, I'm in my 70s. Matte lipstick is not for me. I don't like very glossy lips, either, but my lips need to be hydrated. I like a very natural look and have been wearing Dior Addict Lip Glow since you recommended it. I love it in Berry and in Pink. Thanks so much for all your great videos!

In general, matte lipsticks don’t do my mature lips any favors. A natural kissed sheen is best for me. I have a couple long wearing that I really like, but they are both very comfortable to wear and are beautiful colors. For me, there is still something very glamorous to pull out a compact and reapply a beautiful lipstick. 💄💋

I used to love matte but now that I’m in my 30s I’m drawn to more glossy. I think it’s more flattering on lips that have started to lose their plumpness a bit. I do still use liquid lipsticks for their color intensity, especially in the fall/spooky season with purple and black, but I tend to put a gloss on top.

It’s windy where I live, and I don’t like glosses that get caught in my hair. Overly glossy lips can look cheap sometimes, and the colors too undefined.

I agree with you on the lips. I really liked your video on lip liners and agree that MAC has one of the best lip liners. Gucci Westman has beautiful packaging and excellent products. Expensive, but when you try the best, you just can’t go back to cheaper brands. You have taught me so much. You have are the best make up professional videos. Thank you.

I like a matte lip-it gives definition to the overall face And it s a classic which means.. it works in modern times. You can wear a matte lipstick 💄 and that’s enough if you want to go more minimalist. It gives structure

I still love a matt lippy. Not one for liquids I just picked up Lisa E's Velveteen Liquid and am amazed at how easy it is to wear, long lasting and not drying. Everything Lisa Eldridge does is fantastic. PLLLLEEAAASSEEE try her eyeliners...amazing play!

You are the only makeup person I follow and I don’t think I even follow you for the makeup (although I have made many putchases because of you) it’s just that I find you to be such a cool sophisticated elegant person. So well spoken, feminine and chique. There are so many influencers unboxing an hermas bag every other week but they for me are far from elegant. I just discovered the Lancôme Teint Idole 24 Hour Wear in the new stick format with handy brush on the other end and I'm loving the soft, thin coverage and suede-like texture with its long lasting effect. It feels like just the right foundation to transition into the next season.

Regarding the liquid matte vs the shiny or moist lip, I feel there is a time and place for both, but I do prefer a matte from the bullet vs the liquid kind . In the summer, I definitely prefer a lighter lip texture, so something with a little bit gloss or shine like a glossy balm, and perhaps even a bright lip stain when I'm tanned. However, in the cooler months my preference goes to something along the lines of a 'bouche mordue' with its soft blurred and velvety edges, which is my definition of a matte lip. Givenchy Sheer Velvet line (No.16 Rose Boise being an everyday favourite), and Dior as well has some nice ones that I favoured last winter (the matte balm in Icône was nice, as was the matte lipstick version). I find the softer velvety textures, whether alone or with a caress of gloss is something that I think is well suited to upcoming sweater weather of the cooler months. When done well with a flattering colour choice and where the texture is not too thick, in my opinion I don't think it loos too dated. Nevertheless having said all that, as I'm getting older I do find a moister lip more flattering at times, especially as my lips are on the drier side. I just don't like a sticky, high shine lipstick or gloss where your hair sticks to it. Softer more neutral colours rather than darker, deeper shades in matte velvety textures are not to be discounted and in fact can look quite flattering in crisper weather. Dusty roses, soft rosewoods, plums and berries are my go to shades in the autumn and winter, and I think those are shades that tend to work nicely both in glosses or velvety mattes. Now reds, are another story. I tend to think that one needs to be brave to wear red lipsticks as it needs more care and precision to apply, yet I also love how self empowering it can make you feel and how the right shade of red can light up a face. Perhaps you might consider doing a video just on red lipsticks? (How to choose the right reds for your complexion, what textures tend to be more flattering, what lip pencils to use with reds, what is the best way to reapply and how to make them more long wearing? Is there anything more dreadful than a red lip that is slowly fading away at the edges revealing lip liner? Some of us could definitely do with your expert help, Andreea, on wearing red lipsticks, especially as those greyer days are approaching.

When the first craze about matte liquid lipsticks happened, I was at uni and I totally fell for it. That was also my first major venture into lipsticks and make up in general, so I just went for the stuff that I saw everyone talking about and what was recommended in the stores. Nowadays, as I'm older (nearing my 30th birthday 😅), I've tried various lipstick formulas and I know that for me, creamy lipstick is the best option - I like how the formula feels on my lips, I like the finish, I don't mind reapplying it during the day... It's ok for the trends to shift and swing in the opposite direction, as long as we use those periods to see what's new, try them out if we're curious and pick out the stuff that we really like and that suit us. As for matte liquid lipsticks, the comfiest ones I've tried so far are the ones by Rare Beauty - the lip souffle ones.

I purchased the Chantacaille bronzer recently after I watched you apply it in an Instagram story, and I agree, it's so perfect! I can use just the bronzer, some brow product and I am out the door!

Hey Andrea❤❤❤ Thanks for the intriguing reviews. I actually wear matt lipsticks alot. I also wear lip pencil with gloss or balm, tinted or not, and dewy lipsticks, and satin one's. I find that the most important element in makeup (and also in life really) for me, is diversity. Consistency is my biggest dream. As a person with high ADHD, I have to change all the time, otherwise I get bored and loose interest. Its common for me to wear a matt lipstick and top it with a dewy, juicy lipgloss. Usually, I'll take the topper with me and add on during the day. The matt lipstick will be more of a base. I also don't mind reapplying. I love the Maybelline matt ink series. Its a staple for me. I wore one of them as a base on my wedding day, and I keep coming back to them, always. I love having several colors from series that work for me. I've been Loving the Smashbox lipsticks, they're kind of satin. Thats the best texture, I think. I also been loving the Clinique small series. also, they're kind of classic-satiny. I don't like very dewy look. not on the lips and not on the skin. Maybe it's because I live in the Judean Desert, in south of Israel, which is like.. Super hot. Maybe it's because I'm more of a 'forever 90s' girl. I actually can't wait for the more matt / thinner brows look to come back. although I enjoyed trends. I went in with the strawberry girl dewy look :) but whenever I try the 'clean girl' look, I can't help myself and I powder the whole face eventually 😂😂😂😂 Allie Glines uploaded a really nice video where she's trying products her followers said they will never buy again. I love her very wide perspective. I agree that the diversity and differentiation is what makes the beauty world so interesting.❤

I’m 46 and almost always wear matte lips, but I only own one liquid lip, Chanel’s Rouge Allure Ink Fusion. I recieved a sample and fell in love with the shade, that’s a deep red. Since I started buying Lisa Eldridge’s Velvets I haven’t reached much for others, at least not during fall and winter.

I’m enjoying Jane Iredale products. Where clean beauty is the focus it’s not always easy to find things that are as effective, but mostly her range has been a win for me. Nice eyeliners and lipliners, good palettes. A gorgeous glowy primer, v natural with a touch of pearl. Nice tinted moisturiser too.

I agree 100% with your note about matte lipstick. I didn’t wear lipstick for a long time until recently, new products came on the market, that are more sheer, have more shine and lip balm in them.

I love using lip tint and pairing it with lip liner because both give a thin layer on the lips while still giving color. I used to love wearing liquid lipstick for it's precised application but mostly they're drying, I can't.

Now I like something in between. not too matt, not too glossy. I used to buy liquid matt lipsticks a lot liking the matte look, but I noticed that I rarely used them actually because they are so drying and not comfortable on the lips for everyday use. Glossy lipsticks weren’t my thing until I realized that almost any glossy lipstick you can change on your lips into semi matte. it’s all about applying. Another thing I realized was that I don’t hate glossy lips but I really hate glosses within shimmer on myself. I think now in my thirties my taste has finally shaped.

I'm from Florida, I like matte lipstick. It is very easy to use sunscreen lipstick about it during the day. That fixes the dryness, and they look pretty.

If nothing else, Lips and eyebrows are the two areas I correct everyday. As I mature my lips are loosing definition so pencil is still key so that’s where I start. First I powder my lip area, (like you’ve shown us Andreea) correct the shape with lip pencil. I always look for a pencil shades very close to my natural lip colour. However regardless of whether I use lipstick or not, I always need to top with a sheen! I just think matte leaves me flat looking. I love to retouch throughout the day with Vieve lip dew, which you told us about, always makes me feel more glamorous 😘

I love your opinion of lipsticks! I LOVE a tinted balm or super hydrating balmy lipstick rather than matte. I find mattes to be drying, make my lips look older/more dehydrated, and even when they say they're long-wearing they come off when I eat and then I have to reapply anyway.

I am all about glossy wet looking lips, hides everything 🤭 I have regular matte lip colors from LE but they feel dry on my lips so I pair then with a gloss. I prefer milky neon colors for summer rather than grey beige lip colors because my olive skin tone clashes with a lot of greys and beige. For fall I am bringing out the orange leaning browns and reds. For winter I am bringing out the reds and berry/brown shades. Of course I love glossy translucent dark lip for fall/winter so all the colors will be diluted with a gloss. 😊 I will definitely be doing icy/frost bitten look with an icy pink or milky lavender.

First time commenting. Love your channel. I prefer a matte lip (not a drying formula of course). I have small lips and even with over lining, glossy finishes make my lips look smaller than matte finishes. In theory I like both but in practice matte suits me more. I believe Lisa Eldridge talked about this in one of her videos.

Hello Andreea, I’ve been following you since the pandemic and I love all your content, I’ve tried a lot of products thanks to you and they’re always great! Like the armani luminous silk foundation or the westman atelier bronzers that have changed completely my makeup game. Regarding the matte’s lipsticks I don’t like them at all (they feel and look so unnatural) but I must have some as a sommelier because regular lipsticks leave a mark on wine glasses and it looks awful too, so I’m always trying mattes ( I love red) but I still haven’t found one that feels comfortable and looks great at the same time

One tip and product I’ve recently discovered is Skinade; I’m usually very skeptical regarding this type of drink beauty product but having tried it for almost 3 months I’m amazed and very impressed. My hair, nails and skin have really benefited from this product and my parents and friends have commented on how healthy and glowing I look, despite going through an incredibly stressful period of my life with sleep deprivation on top (I have a non sleeping 3 year old daughter!). I bought that ND concealer a couple hours before you released this video and having worn it now for a week at work it’s better than the Dior for me. I work 12 hr shifts it really lasts abs like you said, incredible pigmentation with minimal creasing. Hope that helps someone 😊

I prefer a matte lipstick that is non drying. I adore a strong pigmented statement lip. Weirdly I feel very uncomfortable wearing a shiny/glossy lips. A bold color feels like an expression of personality or mood on me, but a shiny lip makes me feel uncomfortable as af I was wearing like a glittered sequined dress in the office. It doesn't make any sense but that is how it makes me feel on me. Yet I love it on other people. I m still looking for that red that gives off a powder effect too

I agree on the lips. I wear the Chanel liquid lip that has a clear gloss on one side. I just reapply the gloss over and problem solved. It literally lasts all day and no prune lips!

I will always choose a creamy and balmy formula with a semi-gloss finish over a matte formula. I want to have colour, but at the same time comfort. Creamy looks rich, and beautiful, and compliments any look. :) I am slowly going back to MAC lipsticks and realized again how good their cremesheen lipsticks are, especially in combination with a good (ABH or Make Up Forever) lipliner.

The liquid lipsticks i love these days are the fluffy mouse kind, those that don't dry like the kbeauty ones ( romand zero velvet tints) or the rare beauty liquid, or I hear the givenchy one is in the same ballpark

I love matte lips And yes I am all for bold red lips in my every day makeup, would never trade it for natural juicy lips (this I only use on the weekends when I have minimal makeup) Red lip gives my face life, I feel powerful and this is honestly how I want to look and be perceived in the office

I did buy several Lisa Eldridge liquid lips, but I still add gloss or a balm over. I suppose that’s not the point but on my mature lips shiny looks better. I love the way the Lisa Eldridge liquid lips perform and last even with a gloss on top! I need to try the right color of the ND concealer, but I’m not sure I like the formula on my elderly eyes.

Hi Andreea, I would like you to try Bye bye undereyes concealer by It Cosmetics, in my opion a very little amount of product make the magic and you don't have to fix it with any powder! P:S. I agree with you on creamy lipstick, I totally prefer them, but becouse I wear Invisalign all day long the only way to don't stain it with lipstick is to use a mat tint.

I’m 37 and after trying different lipstick textures during the years, my conclusion is: Best lippie DIOR After GLOW Balm 001, 004, 007, 015❤. It goes every day, every occasion, I combine it with Clarins Hydra-Essentiel lip balm on top or as base. I can make it as intense or as sheer as I want, it staines the lip just enough and I can use only lip balm after, also the lips look moisturized with a healthy color ( I hate the shine from a lipgloss and the feeling). As a matte option for special ocasions or a night out hardcore lasting lipstick, I have a MAC Locked Kiss Ink Lipcolour in RUBY TRUE❤, great staying power, it’s dry but not craking, it feels like my lips are covered in a vinyl layer, it’s waterproof and thin, very pigmented in one coat, different than the feeling of regular matte lipsticks.

I personally still like matte lipstick because it’s a more natural look to me

For me, when a I do RED lips, matte lipstick is a must… for everyday I prefer lips oils or “mattes“ that are really natural as “recently kissed “, sheer velvet givenchy or violette balms 😊

I would like for you to do a session on Revlon brand lipsticks. I have expensive brands like YSL, Tom Ford, Tilbury, Chanel & I still love Revlon the best! The lipsticks glide on smoothly with no "grainy" feel and they are long-lasting wear proof. High quality without the high price.

I would have to agree with you on the prefarable kind of texture for lipstick! I'm only 20 so i can wear matte but for one, i don't like the look of it. It ages me. Also i don't enjoy the feeling of wearing a matte lip product. I like my lips to look and feel hydrated at all times! I only wear summer fridays lip balm and rare beauty lip gloss that gas a balmy texture to it which are all you favorites too! Also for a bolder look i use dior addict lipstick samples bc i can't afford the actual lipstick😅 but they're also hydrating! Might i add that all of them are very long lasting for a balmy texture! They last for about 3h/4h on my lips in terms of color and also hydration.

I tried the matte lipstick style when it first came out and hated the feel of it. I gotta have hydration with a touch of shine that doesn’t feel tight on my lips.

Agree with you on lips. But sometimes, when I want a red lip, I want it to stay on and not worry about it smudging until I remove it. I also read in some different comments that ppl wanted the liquid lipstick because it won't melt in a hot country. Totally agree, I took my red lipstick out with me when I was in Singapore and it melted in my purse 😭 I managed to resuscitate it by putting in the fridge

I prefer cream or glossy lipsticks and lipglosses. I don’t mind reapplying,especially if they’re natural type colours and I don’t need a mirror. I love my Dior Matt in a deep red but other than that I’m not into matts. Thanks Andrea. I like the look of that Gucci product. Good to mix into foundations for me I think

I like both, matte and shiny, it depends on my mood. Talking matte lipsticks I personally prefer The Velvet Lipsticks from Lisa Eldridge over the liquid Velveteen ones. They are THE BEST matte lipsticks in my opinion and they feel more comfortable on my lips.

Really glossy lips are out of the question for me, being 59. Even with a lipliner it slides onto the little wrinkles above my upper lip which I absolutely hate. So I like a mart base with a tini tiny bit of glowin the bottom lip. I use the matt lipbalm from violette-fr in a cherry red or a nude brown tone with and without lipliner. Or the matt ones from Lisa. With a little bit of shine on top . Or a creamy but not too creamy lipstick. Or a multi use stick for eyes cheeks and lips. During the week don’t have a lot of time to do my make up. It has to be fast and easy for me. But I love the way you apply the glosses and the balms on your lips. It looks beautiful on you!! ❤️❤️ and I love your videos and your honest reviews!! 😍😍👍👍

I completely agree with matte lipsticks opinion. I never got it. Understand some women prefer it but I love fresh looking lips and no brand/trend will ever change it.

Matte makes me look harsh. Right now I’m hooked on a combo. My natural multi use blush and lip product with Clinique black honey almost lipstick, actually different formula lipstick applied in the center of my lips and the black honey allover but with the emphasis on the edge of my lips. Low shine balmy texture with a natural look. My lips but better. Can’t get enough. Hands down I rather these days to get something balmy and hydrating rather than matte or thick creamy looking.

I want a lipstick that stays so matt liquid for me. Also if it goes, you eat some of it. Health first for me. ❤ Love your videos and your looks and all your fantastic advice. About lips I love chanel lipsticks because are easy to wear and apply, but Lisa Eldridge true velvet line of lipsticks impressed me and now I would say that I use 50/50 matt/creamy lipsticks. I love lipsticks however, never a fan of the liquid lipstick as I could never find one that didn't dry and chap my lips. I have to say the Lisa Eldridge liquid lip is fantastic. I prefer the juicy/glossy full pigment lip and my current favourite is Victoria Beckham it gives the perfect balance of balm and colour.

I agree with all you say. Never liked the matte "movement" anyway. There's a part in the personal colour analysis theory that says that matte lipstick suits some seasons better and glossy liptstick others. According to that mattes should fit me more but that never really worked.

I never liked matte lipstic, even when it was in fashion. I like lip products in form of a bullet ( there is something super feminine about aplying from the bullet) but I always chose nourishing glossy formulas like Clarins they have nice lipstics or Saint Laurent they also have nice glossy one you used in your wedding makeup video

I don’t like matte lips at all but I’ve recently discovered the Nars lip Crayon and I like the one I’ve bought very much. I bought the lip blur from Charlotte tilbury and it’s lovely but not very long lasting on me. I wanted to try matte again as I know the textures keep improving but I still like my Gucci lip balm in Sally soft honey the most 🤣I wanted something that would last on me and wear off to a nice stain but only the Nars has done that.

I just like a traditional lipstick. I suppose it would be a neutral to hydrating formula. Now that’s if I wear full makeup. And sometimes even if I don’t. But normally I love a tinted balm formula for everyday, or just balms in general. I really like all the new hydrating products, I’m all about that. However I never really liked gloss so much. And also I didn’t really like most matte or long wearing lipsticks per say. I enjoy a creamy satin finish lipstick. And I love lipstick. It’s the most important thing that I wear along with concealer and a eyebrow gel. I like to use a lip balm then apply lipstick then blot then apply more lip balm. This lasts can look more natural. I also love darker plums, burgundy’s, some reds but usually the colors I like are very dark and I have to sheer them out somewhat, well for day wear so it doesn’t look so intense. But then I like a intense color when I wear full makeup too. I also like more cool tones in makeup which I haven’t seen much lately. A lot of red, peach & warm browns. Even in the eyeshadows. Which is fine for some people and something different but not for me.

Love a hydrated lip, definitely more youthful, I find a matt lip is definitely ageing especially for the mature age group.

Couldn't agree more. I much prefer a rich creamy lipstick that hydrates my lips, and looks so much better on me. Matte lipsticks apart from making my lips feel so dry, just gives them a flat appearance. Not really a flattering look.

Can you do one and done eyeshadow?? I like how glossy lips look but I don't like the stickiness
