8 Best Beaches on Kauai Hawaii
The 8 best sandy beaches with easy access and parking on Kauai. EXPAND DESCRIPTION FOR FULL LIST. Being an island, Kauai has lots of coastline, but many of the beaches on Kauai are rocky or really hard to get to. In this video I'll tell you what I consider to be the best beaches, because I think the best beaches are the ones that are easy to get to, and have sand!

Poipu Beach Park, it is on the South Shore, kind of in the center of the South Shore amongst a lot of the hotels and resorts. This is one of Kauai's idyllic beaches, one of the most popular on the South Shore of Kauai, it's two crescent-shaped beaches, nice sand, the sea turtles often come up here, it's protected by a rock jetty, which also makes it good for snorkeling, when it's not too windy, there's also an island in the middle, that protects some of the waves as well, there's ample parking, bathrooms, a lifeguard tower, oh and did I mention there's wild chickens?
Continuing from the Poipu Beach Park, there's the Marriott Beach Club and the Sheraton, there's kind of sandy beaches, that extend all on this way to the Sheraton, they're not as calm, they get a little bit more waves, I should also mention on the beaches, it can be pretty windy in Kauai, so make sure if you're putting your towels down and things like that, you put some weights on them, otherwise they're gonna fly away and your stuff won't be here anymore.
Another great big, sandy beach on the South Shore of Kauai in Poipu in front of the Grand Hyatt Poipu is Shipwreck Beach, this beach is famous, 'cause there was a shipwreck, that wrecked upon it, but it's a big, wide, sandy beach, there's a lot of rocks in it, so not super good for swimming, really popular for surfing and boogie boarding by the cliff over there, it's also been a popular spot for cliff diving, Justin Bieber's famous for having dove over there, but if you just like sand, you wanna walk on the sand, then check out Shipwreck Beach in front of the Grand Hyatt.
The closest nice beach to Lihue Airport is Kalapaki Beach, this beach right here, easy to find, because it's in front of the Marriott, that big, ugly pink building behind me and this beach is nice, 'cause it's a big, wide sandy stretch of beach, there's a beachfront path in front of it for biking or walking, right next to it is Duke's restaurant, a famous restaurant, but this beach, if we pan over this way, it's really popular for swimming, stand up paddle boarding and it's also the cruise ship terminal, you can see the cruise ships come in back there, so if you're coming in or out of a cruise, this'll be your closest beach.
One of the best beaches for ultra protected swimming is Lydgate Beach Park, it's on the East Shore and it is super protected, 'cause it has a big rock thing around the whole area, where you can swim, there's two pools, there's the adult pool and the KK pool, or the kid's pool, but as you can see here, the waves are really, really choppy, it's really, really windy and so it's nice to get in that protected thing to swim and not have to worry about the waves and the pounding surf. Lydgate Beach also has lifeguards and bathrooms, plenty of parking, picnic areas and for the little kiddos, a pretty big children's playground.

I feel bad because it seems you may have missed out on some of the best beaches. For swimming, snorkeling, and easy access Anini beach is huge, stunning, and contains a massive reef to protect from the waves. Also Kalihiwai is absolutely stunning.

Great advise
Can't believe you left out Anini beach on the North Shore. Lots of park along the road easy access and the main beach has facilities. Protected by a long reef and very calm year round. Check it out!

It's the best North Shore swimming anytime of the year. Anini Beach is usually less crowded than Poipu or Hanalei and is really quite breathtaking. The Anini Beach Park has multiple campsites with permits, shade trees, picnic tables, pavilions, restrooms and showers. Ke’e Beach, Haena Beach and Tunnels Beach are awesome on calm water days, so mostly Summer, with parking for Tunnels Beach best at Haena Beach Park. Ke’e Beach has it's own, but get there early. Also On Kauai’s Western shore, Salt Pond Beach Park is really awesome the water anytime and is generally quite clear here as the natural fringing reefs help keep the water fairly calm. You will find restrooms, showers and shade pavilions. Very east access. Aloha!

Glass beach is amazing if you want to pick up Sea Glass and make some home Made jewelry. Salt pound is amazing also most locals on the west side go there.

south facing beaches in the winter. NW Pacific storms in winter create huge swells.
You should check out Polihale, Anini, and Kealia the next time you're on Kauai.
I have been to Maui, oahu, the big island and Kauai. And by far your best bet for beaches is Kauai.

Why? For swimming or surfing? This video didnt really show any surf, the weather looks windy, cloudy. Not impressed.

@@supercommando440 Kauai is the oldest island in the chain and has had time to develop sand beaches. There are many beaches all around the island. If you want to body surf go to pine trees at hanalei bay. If you want to learn to surf hanalei pier. If you are more experienced you can surf the reef at the bay. Other beaches to surf are donkeys (don't remember the actual name) pouipu is a good surf spot, and the beach at lihue in front of the Marriott. this is by no means an exhaustive list. the great thing about it all is there is lots of beaches to explore. And as far as weather is concerned, it's an island. Don't like the weather where your at? Go to the other side of the island. Aloha brah🤙!
Puu Poa beach has chairs and umbrellas on the beach. Should I live in St. Regis to use them for free?

The view is not good as other beaches.
I need help, so here is the deal. I went to Hawaii before (Maui) and it was fun, but I went there at a resort, and it was super super expensive!!! I want to go Kauai with my wife but not at a hotel, this time I want to rent a Airbnb and have access to beaches with out going to hotel (no wrest band) is there public beaches there? that I can go and enjoy my time with out paying this crazy money to hotels? and where exactly? and how to I search for them so I know which Airbnb to get that is close to it please

Why do HI hotels not have beach chairs and shades like other travel destinations?

Essentially Hawaii law that beaches are "public" and not for private companies to profit from. You will find beach chairs at most of the resorts in Maui at Wailea Beach. The Aulani on Oahu also provides beach chairs
Looks like you went after the big rains last year. Those storms washed a lot of trees out to sea and then the waves washed them back up on shore. You probably couldn't get to Ke'e. That's the best beach on the island. Too bad you missed sunset there.

Lovely sand, it has a waterfall in the middle, a huge sea cave at one end, the other end leads to a lush valley best described as garden of eden and there not many tourists (you need a permit to go there).

Not a lot of parking at that beach... I really want to do that hike some day. I have to get over my mortal fear of heights to ever do Crawler's Ledge, though.

we kayak in. takes couple of hours v's a whole day hike . I hear ya on the fear of hieghts, that trail looks like it has some sketchy moments.

I didn't even know you could Kayak it. Is that with a a tour, or just yourselves? Something you need to be fairly experienced to do, or could a relative novice make it OK? I am interested in doing that if it's something a couple of decently in shape 40 year olds with just basic, calm water kayaking experience could do. I wouldn't attempt it solo, though.
Not very inspiring… seems like nearly every spot you showcased in this video had choppy, bad surf and WIND. What time of year was this video taken? Where’s the blue water, sun and good surf?
