KAUAI TRAVEL GUIDE | Best Things to do in Kauai, Hawaii

KAUAI, HAWAII - These are my recommendations for best things to do in Kauai, Hawaii:
tourist2townie.com/travel-dee...
-
This past December, I took my mother on a 10-day adventure to Kauai, Hawaii! I planned a packed itinerary to explore as much of the Hawaiian island possible; from Kapa'a and Poipu to the Napali Coast and Waimea Canyon. We found the best places to eat and best hiking trails in Kauai thanks to local advice from Hawaiian friends on Instagram.
In my humble opinion, these are the best things to do in Kauai!
I want to come back to Kauai again and do the full, 11-mile Kalalau trail, and discover more of the Waimea Canyon and Napali Coast. I would also like to return to discover the best beaches in Kauai!

This is actually a really good video starting out with respect to locals and you did pretty good at pronouncing hawaii names which is surprising for a visitor. You missed out on the best shave on island in the old bus where you ate pono market. Pone market is the best. Saimin Dojo owns that shave ice next to pono market. I miss home thanks for giving me a glimpse of it

Being a born-at-home local boy, hearing that a visitor made it a point to lay it down, respect first, well in my opinion, you’ve earned my respect. That’s really all the people of Hawaii want, equality. Mahalo for your respectful words, thoughts and actions 🤙🏼 Nice down video, makes me miss my home on Kaua’i

This is the best travel video I have seen and I work in the airline industry!! My husband and I really enjoyed and subscribed. We loved your introduction to your video about showing respect to locals and their their traditions. I like that you focused your video on the sights, food and the dangers you can enconter while traveling; so many travel videos are all about the travelers HUGE ego and vanity. So very sweet you took your beautiful mom on your adventure.

💕 your genuine effort to pronunciate the language... The respect you show... Just warms my heart. Kiss your mother for me and tell her I said she did a wonderful job raising you. Most videos about hawaii by non-natives, I tend to avoid because it makes me cringe to listen and watch. I am from Hilo and saw your video here. 🤙🤙🤙 I knew you were different when you hit SUISAN up first! Ppl like you WE WELCOME WITH ALOHA. Contrary to popular beliefs, we don't hate haoles or any tourist. We don't appreciate the "oddah kine" ppl that come with a sense of entitlement and act cocky. I wanna be nice and say some... But I would be lying.... MOST tourist have it in their mind that us local ppl don't like them so when we say "No" they don't listen. Then they don't read the posted signs saying "Don't"... They still do what they want and get hurt and/or sometimes worse! The part when you read the sign at "Queen's bath" and suggested a better beach not to far, tells me you are being mindful. In my head I was like "why can't they all be like dis braddah right here." You are da real deal... Came with an open heart and an open mind. I always say "EMBRACE THE CULTURE AND THE CULTURE WILL EMBRACE YOU." Next time you in Hilo I would love to take you a couple places. Keep up the great job Garett!

What great memories! My wife and I love Kauai. Such beauty. Unlike you though, we only plan one activity per visit. Other than that, we do whatever comes to mind. Snorkeling, boogie boarding, or just relaxing on the sand. Kauai is our "down time" island. One activity you didn't mention is going to the "secret falls". You take the kayak up the Wailua river than a little hike to the falls. Also, very beautiful. Tubing the ditch is wonderful! Kapaa is the perfect place to stay, mid point to both ends of the island. Great location. Thanks for sharing.

One positive consequence (hopefully not the only one) of this time of global pandemic is that Mother Nature is slowly but surely healing itself. Devoid of humans walking about, the air is cleaner, the streams and oceans are less polluted, and the animal and plant species are not going extinct quicker. If I'd ever get a chance to travel to the US, I'd love to go to Hawaii and California. The former for it's breathtaking landscapes and delicious food, the latter for vibe and cultural diversity. Glad you had this adventure with your mother before the whole craziness happened, Gareth. All the footage looks awesome! Hawaii truly is a paradise on earth. Stay safe. Cheers!

I love your dedication to respect of the people and islands of Hawaii. I couldn't agree more. We have been to Kauai three times now and it's so fun to see the places we have been that you highlight. I wish you had done the doors off helicopter trip. It was SO amazing. We did do the closed trail at Waimea Falls - I did not think it was worth it. Did not love the tubing, but ziplining was fantastic. I am now sorry I did not keep going to the top of Sleeping Giant. I gave up in the mud. We did Captain Andy's, but the speedy raft tour - it was great. Sadly, snorkeling was not good the say we went though. Beautifully done - thank you!!

Thanks for posting this! I am hoping to purchase tickets to Kauai soon (for going in September) as prices are cheap right now. So I am taking my quarantine time to plan the trip. This was helpful.

Great audio-video tour, all the recommendations I also would have made for 2 active guests in my 10 years as a concierge...land, air and sea on Kaua'i for sure! I would also add a warning re. Hanakapi'ai Beach, esp. in the winter, stay back and DO NOT go in; Similar to your advice about Queen's Bath! Great to do as you did, split the time up on north/east side of Kauaʻi and the south/west side, for so many reasons, surf height, microclimate, access to canyon vs. Kalalau area hiking, etc. Always good to know the vast difference between the beaches/surf north and south and summer vs. winter! Mahalo nui for a fun mother/son trip share! *Your initial attention to 'Respect for the native culture, people and land' was so noteworthy and important- anywhere you visit, and especially here on Kaua'i, the oldest in the main Hawaiian Island chain.

Born and raised on Maui I truly appreciate your intro to this video and is the reason I watched. Most videos are all tourist attractions. I loved the local places to eat I can't find that on other videos! We'll be going in April and can't wait! Staying at the Grand Hyatt so any other recommendations on that side please share - maybe privately LOL :-)

Great video! So helpful. We’re “That mom”, non stop adventuring. Always end with needing a vacation from our vacation. Thank you so much for your time and effort in the production of this video. We’ll be sure to respect the local culture and land and tip well.
