I remember when I was little and my cousins came from the USA to visit us (I'm honduran) and it was so awkward: we were excited to see each other but also very confused because we couldn't understand really well what the other was saying with their very basic level of Spanish and our little fluency of spoken english 😂 We still made it work somehow and played together

British person here, it's considered normal to go around the party and say hi to everyone, but you're not expected to hug and kiss everyone. Just saying hi and making small talk ("how are you? How is school/work going? Are you enjoying the party?") is perfectly fine, then you can excuse yourself

I hate when people find out im Hispanic they automatically assume im Mexican. Mexico has the largest population out of all other Hispanic countries so sometimes they represent us. Someone in my area asked me if I spoke Mexican. The hell? Anytime I want to speak to my Mexican friends I have to change the way I speak Spanish because they insult my countries way of speaking. I live in a place heavily populated with black people who think that Hispanics are colorist and I had to confront someone who didn’t know me and called me colorist because of my ethnicity but Im from the Caribbean and the Caribbean is heavily populated with Afro-Latinos. I think other countries such as El Salvador, Equador, Peru, Cuba, Colombia ,!Chile, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Argentina, Dominican Republic, Spain, etc should have more recognition and we should embrace our differences.

I'm Puerto Rican and I can confirm us Boricuas keep our pans and pots in the oven 😁 When it comes to having white friends , which I had many . ( Jewish , Irish , Italians, Germans , Albanians ) Some white people are okay with affection (Hugs and kisses) and some are not which is understandable and you have to respect that because they were not raised that way .

Most of my white friends don't like affection like that, but there's one Italian-American family where the mom and the grandparents do that. I live in an area with mostly English or French people.

Que se puede malinterpretar ese tipo de afecto, porque piensan que eres una persona muy intensa, o sea consideran que eres una persona extremadamente apasionada y hostigante. También como las personas no-latinas no suele tener este tipo de afecto entre amistades, les resulta muy incomodo para ellos que hagas eso.

No lo habia visto de esa manera, quiza solo sea una cuestion cultiral no se. Claro que uno no anda por la vida dando besos y abrazos a todo el mundo, sino que es mas "personal" por decirlo asi, solo se da entre amigos y familiares nomas. "Si no te conozco te doy la mano pero si sos mi amigo del alma te abrazo fuerte y con una sonrisa grande", masomenos asi viene la mano.

You're supposed to kiss everyone in the cheek when you arrive and when you leave. It's pretty annoying when you don't really know anyone there, and when it's a bigger gathering (around 30 people, maybe), you'll be spending half your time there greeting everyone individually.

It really sucks being constantly told im not really Mexican or what kind of Mexican am I since I don't speak Spanish. My grandparents were told that they should not speak Spanish to their kids so neither of parents know it and neither do I. It's not our fault my grandparents felt that pressure to assimilate.

I do speak Spanish but it's always weird when I meet someone and they ask me what I am and I say I'm Hispanic and they start speaking in Spanish to me because what if I didn't speak Spanish? People shouldn't be so quick to assume. I know some Hispanics who don't speak Spanish and that doesn't make them any less Hispanic!

Hispanic means you're from a Spanish speaking country. It's not a race or an ethnic concept. If you were born in USA and do not speak Spanish, you can label yourself as "hispanic" if you want but has no sense

However, you're point doesn't make a whole lot of sense since my family is from a Spanish speaking country, thus I am technically Hispanic. And since the video was talking about things "Latinos" understand. I don't see why the subject of being Hispanic or not being Hispanic even matters

+Alicia De La Cruz actually my teacher taught me that those who immigrated or came from a spanish country are Hispanic while those who were born in the U.S or any other non spanish country are Latinos.

I have to say that the one about the hugging wjen your mom has guests... yes. The one where you are looking for the pots and pans... yes but the the one that got me THE Most is the one where there is a latino and you are latino also... and they cannot speak spanish. I love yall still, but sometimes is sad when you cant have a conversation in your own language.
