75,000 mileage points + 80 dollars is quite a bargain for that luxury business class seat to New York. It used to cost me 60,000 points + 100 dollars for a "normal" business class seat on another airline from Haneda to Honolulu...
@bubbledoubletrouble
Жыл бұрын
What they didn’t say was the fact that it’s 75,000 points _round-trip_ which is just plain nuts. That’s related to how hard it is to obtain ANA miles though. Miles in the US are far easier to come by since American banks helped the US airlines out by buying a tooooon of miles during the financial crisis, which they proceeded to shower on credit card holders over the past decade. Of course, as folks amassed a ton of miles the US airlines slowly ramped up the cost of award redemptions. There are still relative bargains out there, but they’re much harder to find.

It’s a crazy good bargain. I am currently planning on visiting Istanbul and flights from nyc to Istanbul which costs around 300,000 points round trip with half of the trip on a crappy European business class(basically us domestic business)

@@bubbledoubletrouble Amex points can be transferred to Ana 1:1. The problem is, they only confirm your ticket a few days before your trip so unless your work is super flexible, it’s hard to plan for such a trip.

@@bowei4237 That’s assuming you even make it off the waitlist. Everyone knows about the deal, so everyone tries to get it. But what I’m talking about is for Japanese folks, since ANA is of course primarily targeting AMC-and therefore redemption rates-at their domestic market. If we go by the Amex Platinum card for example, in Japan the annual fee is ~$1,000 and you need to spend about $7,000 in 3 months to get 50,000 MR points, and depending on the particulars of your spend it could end up being just 45,000 MR points. _And on top of that_ you may only convert up to 40,000 MR points to ANA AMC miles per year! There are ANA-Amex co-brand cards, but the earnings rates really aren’t a whole lot better. Meanwhile, the US Platinum is $695/yr and regularly offers 100,000 MR points for $6,000 (less money) spend in 6 months (more time). Targeted bonuses can net you 125,000 MR points. And currently there’s no transfer cap. This is before we even get into the 5 MR points per dollar spent on airfare. Incidentally there’s a promotion for the US Gold Card ($250/yr) right now that nets you 90,000 MR points for $4,000 of spend in 6 months. With that card it’s 4 MR points/$1 on restaurants and supermarkets.

The trick of the shower room is to book the last flight of the night and then go and get the very last spot. At least that worked for me 2018 - I didn't even reserve or anything, it was really quiet. The best 20$ I've ever spent, it's the best feeling to fly an overnight flight freshly out of the shower, in newly washed clothes, having a nice dinner and then sleeping until landing.

An exceptionally good video as you made use of the onboard cameras. There are millions of flight videos and almost no one bothers to use a different viewpoint, like the nose & tail cameras for takeoff and landing. I would give extra likes just for that! Appreciate the detailed menu and meal choices. In future, I hope you do more flight/hotel/meal reviews. Your time given to film, edit, add English subtitles is sincerely appreciated. May you always have safety and happiness in your journalese.

I really want to fly ANA again and I wish I had the money/UA points to pull off business class. Their product seems really nice. The lounge looks super good. The best lounge I’ve been in stateside was United Club at LAX. Lots of food, lots of space, good drink selection, plenty of water etc stations, not too brightly lit, lots of charging ports. I was super early so I hung and watched She-Hulk before my red-eye. I like the sense of humor with which you approach these videos.
Such a lot of food! Beautifully prepared and presented, too. Very impressive 😊

Well done! Laughed at the red sticks, and the landing oh my god
What an incredible flight experience! So glad you got to meet Miss Liberty. 😊
I loved flying on ANA airlines. Great service, friendly staff.
I felt the pain in that shower room queue, my family uses Narita airport as a stopping point between where we live in Canada and Vietnam (since there are no direct flights that far), and on the way back from visiting family in August we had an 8 hour layover. Went to book a day room only to find out there was a 7 hour wait list ._. Speaking of Narita airport I’ve now learned that Haneda also does some international flights, all this time I thought Haneda was domestic only. Thanks Solo-san!
