It took me a while to find your how-to videos. They are great; you do a great job of explaining everything. Thanks, Joe
Where can I find a Pin-out to build the cable for the BG-8S Meter to the ribbon cable?
Great video! I have your kit but haven’t built it yet. I know you are busy, but this sort of quick basic troubleshooting content is awesome.
Thanks for the video, helpful. What’s the best way to replace the hairline traces when they blow?
great debugging !
Hi from Croatia, great content!
Looking forward for the powerwall project using the PCB modules, I bought 10 modules plus the BMS and I willing to buy the 75ps to build a powerwall

Have 4x 36v packs, 2 8s module, and over 100 modems to harvest. Have a buck and boost converter, going to get voltage down to 24v
I had all my wire trace fuses blow out, if you have issues check them first. in the next iteration of the bord I would like to see the trace fuses replaced with SMD
Hi Jehu great video on BMS lovely content, I am interested in making my own BMS would love to send it to you for testing, the cell holders seen in the blue cell packs are great
Where i can buy Holder 7s With BMS? With option to expand to 7s2p 7s3p itp...?
7.22.20 Jehu, are you going to make a video on how to wire up the battgo BG 8s? I bought 4 of the BMS and now I am hoping they are fine. Slowly taken apart the scooter battery packs and testing the cells and putting them into the PCB. Currently have 5 PCB (35 cells) populated and now ready to test the BMS.

No, it’s as simple as connecting pin 1 on the meter to pin 1 on ribbon, pin 2 to pin 2 and so on
I got one of your boards and the posative blue ribbon was not on the negative side. Whats up?
Jehu, one thin I do about every month or so is I take the BattGo and test every board in my 36p to see if any trace fuses are bad. disconnect the ribbon cable from all and plug the BAT in, if one or more cell reads 0v then I know I have a bad trace fuse. Monthly maintenance.

@@jehugarcia Yes twice, but after I took out the pack and re-tested every cell and found the one or two bad cells then ran re-packer all has been good. But if we don't use new cells all the time this is a quick way to check everything.

Really want to start buying the system you offer and will continue to follow as you walk through the steps to create a powerwall (I hope that will be your goal). One question in the back of my mind: you offer two cell boards I think one if seven cells and the other is 14 cells what is the difference and their applications?
@jehugarcia
4 жыл бұрын
One is rated at 1c continuous and the HP is rated at 2c power output
Hi. I have your PowerTalk kit. When I connect all to the bms. There is to much heat that the fuse melts off. I tried half and it still seems to get 220 degrees. Any thoughts?
Generally, trying to measure resistance while voltage is applied to circuit is going to give unreliable results. The resistance measurement works by applying a small voltage and measuring the small current. Voltage in the circuit confuses the measurement.
@ugetridofit

Ross is right. You should never measure resistance or continuity check on a live circuit.

how do shunts measure resistance? With the circuit off ?
@jessew6757
4 жыл бұрын
jehugarcia : A shunt is a precisely manufactured wire block with very low predetermined fixed resistance at manufacturing stage. It is used to measure current not resistance. When current flows through it, a voltage drop occurs across its terminals, and this voltage is directly proportional to the current flowing through the shunt because of V=IR (Ohms law), whereby R is constant in a shunt, hence voltage varies with current. There is always a small electronic circuit attached to the shunt to compute (calculate) the amount of current flowing through the shunt. Thus current measurement is also computed into Amp-hours, if necessary. A combination of shunt and display circuitry are used to measure Amp-hours, and thus are used as battery monitors. A good example of use of Shunt and monitoring circuit is the VictronEnergy Shunt and BMV’s www.victronenergy.com/battery-monitors

Can u use for e bike battery
I found a problem with my v1.3 populated board. The ribbon connector is off one set of points. I found the issue when I tried to check the voltages on the testing points on the ribbon conector, the first set of pins shows 8v, no combination shows 4v, so I flipped it over and compared to v1.0 of the board and saw the connector is shifted over one spot. I wish I could share a photo of what I have to help others.

In Electronics, it is not ok or recommended to do a continuity multimeter test in a live(powered) circuit, let alone across a MOSFET or transistor. Continuity test should never be done on a powered circuit.
I’m seeing these for sale on Geek and Wish. No copyright laws in China. Hate it for anyone that has a great idea and it gets stolen.
