Oh man this comment resonates with me. I used to keep to myself a lot in my teen years and into my early 20s. I had an apartment alone in 2020 and I remember I met this kind older lady who became my friend as well as my neighbor (we moved in the same week and we met when we were viewing the apartments before signing the lease). Through that friendship with her (she was a very charismatic, social lady) I ended up meeting my immediate neighbors and becoming friends with them. It was a tough part of town and we frequently got bad people who would enter the apartment building, so it was really important to know my neighbors to stay safe. Kind people absolutely do help with social anxiety! I never expected my neighbors to reach out to me and be nice first. It really changed how I view strangers and I feel like a kinder soul, certainly less nervous around people. Good luck my friend!

Sorta reminds me of a neighbor of mine. She lives across the street. Don’t know her name but she encountered me as I was walking to the corner store as I don’t have a car and she said she was worried and asked if I was Ok as she hadn’t seen me doing my usual corner store walk or the opposite way to the bigger store a quarter mile away. She talked to me as if she knew me. She talks very loud. I told I was fine. She also said she sometimes watches me doing my front landscaping. Felt a little creepy at first but then realized she was keeping an eye on me to make sure all was fine. She’s a nice lady. Another neighbor of mine who passed away about three years ago at 92, I used to do her backyard. My pay was food. And we’d sit on her front stoop or in her swing she had in her garage. I’d do a beer run for her and we’d sit and enjoy a beer together. She introduced me to her grown daughter and her teen daughter. Two other neighbors I sometimes visit with. But I sure miss Milly. It’s nice to know your neighbors. There was one guy who mowed people’s lawns for free. But I paid him with one of my art pieces.
“a little more common decency”

Oh man, I cannot express in words how much I love this style of animation. I love it to the point of tears. It’s so utterly incredible to even witness how these movies are brought to life, and there is something very satisfyingly human in the imperfect faces of the puppets. Almost like it’s a condensed capture of humanity. These movies exude more emotion and art than those with actual live actors, in my opinion. If anyone likes the British Band Keane, they have a gorgeous MV for their song “bedshaped” that’s been made in this stop motion animation style. While the song itself is so beautiful, the animated depiction of the struggling, distorted man is even more striking.
