If you want to make the Legato sound like a $500 iem, put JVC Spiral Dots tips on them. It opens them up for beautiful treble with a wide bore yet the firmness of the silicon keeps the bass deep and tight. Get as large as you can to get a good seal. The Legatos now have had me stop searching for “the one”, finally. Bassheads rejoice. Great review btw, nice easy style. The Legato is often said to have an L shaped tuning. The spiral dots make them more V shaped. For those who can’t afford to spend over $100, get the Legato's little cousins who sound similar and fantastic for under $25 -the KBear Rosefinch and the KZ Castor.

Looks like a very nice set. I'm just waiting here until the release of the Blessing 3 to see if I try another more affordable IEM or just one but from a higher tier.

thanks for the detailed review. I see 3 holes at 10:44, are they for evacuating pressure? I'm quite sensitive to pressure so, did you find any need for taking them out and in after a while?

Mine is on the way. I’m sure it will go with my Simgot ea500. Nice to have two opposites. Ear-tips might tame the bass a little maybe. Akros or Micheal Bruce might have a way to retune it as well, maybe. Excellent review on this one!

@@mokisan Not a lot of low end bass, but excellent mid bass. Very good midrange and excellent treble. Details and soundstage are average for the money. Midrange is boosted with the black filter but a little less treble. Excellent buy, but don’t expect a lot of deep bass. Some say it’s like the original Heartmirror but better mid bass. Amazon still has it.

thanks for the review - I know you listen also to jazz (Manu Katché as an example) and this makes you one of the most reliable and reference reviewers for me, as I love jazz too.. but I love classical music as well and I'm wondering what the Legato can do with orchestras or chamber music, if the extra bass would completely destroy the balance or if you think classical is something acceptable for this IEM.. I also have other more resolving pairs for classical (Hexa, SA6 Ultra, Performer 5, a few planars) so I might use the Legato for jazz only.. what do you think ?

So sorry for the late reply. It's good to hear from a fellow Jazz lover! It won't completely destroy it, but it won't do it any favors either. I do think the treble is detailed enough to represent higher stringed instruments, but the rest of the frequency spectrum is a mixed bag for me. It will definitely work better with jazz, but even then, instruments don't sound as natural as I would like because of the upper mid tuning.

@@Audio-In-Reviews thanks a lot for the answer! I anyway made the decision already long ago to avoid the Legato, I'll wait for the Blessing 3 Dusk and the Performer 8, which sound extremely interesting to me and will surely do better. And I have just ordered the RS2 DAP by Hiby, thanks to your great review too. Thanks again for the amazing job you do!

Hi, what do you think about the 7HZ Timeless, do you think it's better than this?

The timeless is very detailed for its price and edges all of these out in terms of overall performance in my opinion. Still a great iem and I wish I had kept mine!

Timeless are straight up detail beasts, But for bass heavy electronic music or movies (especially action) I'd say the legato would be more fun, it's great iem's like this exist and we can use different tools for different jobs.
