Much appreciated!
thanks, todd. honest review! i was thinking about getting a longer focal length like the 75 or 90 to attach it to my sl2s. the leica noctilux glass is just not affordable.

Might be an idea, see if you can try one out first and see how you like it.
Nice review. I never thought I would end up with one of these, but I purchased some other lens and this on was part of the group. It did not come with the chart, so I’m wondering the best way to calibrate it. Works great on my Monochrom with evf though.

I would reach out to them, they are pretty good at getting back to people, they will probably send you a chart or have one to download.
I am using some new Voigtländer lenses beside my Leica M Lenses and they are great. Excellent built quality and optically very very close to Leica. Higher in price as the 7artisan lenses but far cheaper than Leica. I never had regret the buy. Chears and best regards to Canada, Greg

Yes I've heard really good thing about the Voigtländer lenses myself. The ones I've seen are built really well.
great vid. the whole draw to Leica IMHO is the lenses. I love my 35/1.4 and 50/1.4 and could never part with them. Whether on a film M or even adapted to a digital non-M body, the lenses are the reason the images look the way they do.

I meant to add Todd I’ve been shooting my third party zeiss zm 50mm and 28mm for over a decade and it was how that allowed me experience the M process. I’ll be adding some Leica glass to my kit in the future. Cheers
The 1.4 is a character lens based on a sonar and biogon design. You get exactly what the day in the specifications if you want a sharp lens you should check out the 7artisan wen f2 hard to compare it to a leica lens considering that they have a completely different look.

Indeed. But it was more about how does it stack up against a Leica lens. Is a Leica lens that much better? And like I said, for the money it’s a pretty good lens.
Works with sony a6000?
Someday, hopefully, if ever, i'd like to have a M10....i own this lens since 2021...bought for 169 EUR, as it was on 50% sale. I know, it's excellent for the price level, because of the older Reviews, especially Erick's Photo. :)

I know. Well, someday maybe. Can't afford or justify 4K for a M10 used. Way too much money. @@toddkorolphoto

@@marcp.1752 yes I hear ya, they are expensive !
They need to start to making cameras, i would love to see a cheap m-mount camera

Yes but I really don't think there is such a thing as a cheap camera anymore, it's a lot to produce these things, and if things are really cheap they tend to break way more often or just not work properly.

Isn’t owning an M series camera about the lens and not so much about the body I find it odd that people who are using M-series cameras are using non Leica branded glass which kind of defeats the whole purpose of getting into Leica. Bodies are much the same across brands, it’s the glass that denotes the image quality and look. I completely appreciate your review in this video and hold nothing against you but in the field I see owners of beautiful Leica cameras using cheaper lenses obviously due to the cost effectiveness of using them but I feel it’s again not achieving like I sent out to achieve or using cheap lenses.

Yes I agree. I was interested to see what these lenses were like. The one good thing about them is they can help someone get into the Leica system by buying a body and then saving for a lens, for as we know they are not cheap anymore. But yes, getting the “Leica look” means using Leica glass which I find has a very special quality to it. I just got a 35mm F/1.4 Leica Summilux FLE version, and that lens is seriously amazing the image look I get from that. Thanks for watching!

Well yes and no. During film days everyone used same films so the lenses would make huge difference. But in digital era body's internal processor and post-processing technology/skills all play important roles. Some of these affordable lenses can produce extremely good images on a M body.
When you spend THOUSANDS on a Leica rangefinder camera but need to save money on chunky, heavy, un-calibrated, optically inferior and much less sharp lenses... Anyone looking for a budget, sharp M lens line-up should take a look at the latest Voigtlaender lenses, especially their Apo lenses.
