Outstanding review of the 7 Artisans 35mm f/1.2. Very nice comparisons with your Nikon lenses, very helpful. I look forward to more of your reviews.
Great job. I watch a lot of KZread lens reviews. But, yours got to the point and gave me a solid impression of this lens. I subscribed.
amazing review, for 2nd youtube video, you nailed! Thank u for sharing :)
You tell it like it is, I subscribed. Good review.
I think that purple flare above the window is reflection between the sensor and rear element. If you rotate it 180 it pretty much exactly matches the bright part of the window around the lampshade. I've got a couple lenses that do similar things in some circumstances. Sometimes I think it's due to a flat rear element or quality of coatings or lack of coatings on the rear element. With some lenses it just shows as a purple spot in the center.
Like your style, glad I found this channel! Wishing you more subscribers and I'm happy to share :)
it is a nice budget lens. stop down to f8 you will get sharp image from corner to corner, f1.2 is good for portrait
good video, thx for the content!
I'd like to see more reviews like this :) There must be some pretty hidden gems from these chinese lenses manufacturers! :D
Nice review
Is this good for taking photos of Milky way? (Using canon 90d)
Can it be compared with the TT Artisan brand?
UNDERRATED!!
I miss this channel
why the call it photoelectric, any exif data lined to camera, f stop light meter, .... etc ?
I actually think the look of this lens photos is better than the Voigtländer 35mm1.2 which cost 5 times more
Question about the x100v b-roll. Why not use the lens for the b-roll?

Fair point. I'm not the biggest fan of Nikon's in-camera video recording on the Z6. It's a baked-in color profile. Were I to use it, I'd need an Atomos to get the full uncompressed quality (which is great!).
For good result , use better CPL
Put a tiny bit of tape in the inside rim of the lens cap and then it won't fall off. No duh!
Will it fit the XPro1 of Fuji?

Yes.
great review, would love to see a comparison to the TTArtisans 35mm 1.4

You wouldn’t need to see the comparison. The TTartisan blows this 7artisans out of the water in terms of image quality (sharpness, bokeh)

I see it as a storytelling lens. Great for black and white

A “storytelling” lens? Could you elaborate?
@Swingkid14

@@itacatv2146 a lens where sharpness across the frame is not the most important. The bokeh has a nice blur and the focus on the subjects are great. It's tiny which make it more stealthy in situatiosn where you want to tell a story without wanting people to see you, compared to a huge 50mm1.2 FF lens. The rendering of the lens feel vintage which make photographs look more analogue than digital. So the story you want to tell will not look like everyone elses story if you shot the same thing.

Any difference betweeeen 7 artisan 35 mm manual and this photoelectric ?why is it called photoelectric?

I was initially thinking it had to do with coatings on the lenses, such as uncoated versus coated, but I couldn’t find any info confirming that. What the naming might refer to is that these lenses are only for mirrorless cameras, not SLR cameras. On product pages for photoelectric, they write, “Our lens is only suitable for mirrorless cameras, Not for SLR cameras.” I don’t know if they include this on other pages. Just what I saw.
I think this lens is better for videos than photography. The not super sharp will work in video. At least I think so🤣being the enthusiastic amateur that I am.

Indeed, despite marketing lingo for de-clicking in the product descriptions of the mark II version.

The old one was declicked.
7 artisans oversell their aperture ratings. This thing is more likely an f2.

No it's a 1.2. I own it. Owned many 35/50mm lenses the past 25 years I've been doing photography. My copy is not as hazy and centre sharp at 1.4 . Great bokeh and fun lens
