#78 Snow Clearing with the Kubota BX 1880

Feb 14, 2023, big snow and big drifts are no match for the BX, lots of rear weight is key.

It is very obvious that you have much more heavy snow then you have room to push it. I am lucky in the fact that I have unlimited room but we only received 4 good snow falls this winter with the worst one being at Christmas. I did go out and purchase a 5 foot rear blade for the snow up against my buildings and to avoid any damage to my gravel drive or my lawn I mounted a 2 inch by 5 foot section of PVC pipe on the cutting edge. I'm sure many have said your tight areas would be a perfect spot for a snow blower but they are expensive and might not fit in your storage shed. I actually don't mind all the extra time it takes to plow snow with a bucket. It sure beats walking behind a snowblower for over 45 years. I love my 1880.

Hello my friend, yes indeed a snow blower would be nice, but it's scary expensive in these parts, for the number of uses I'd get out of it, the cost just can't be justified. I'll put that $ towards a proper garage one day

Hi I like your videos and I saw you have a Train Engine in your front yard at the front of your driveway. I was wondering if you could tell me more about it. I have been trying to get one for my property to restore and I have been trying to learn as much about the mini Engines and I have a project with a steam engine conversion to electric.the steam engine has been long since been removed and it's just the bones. I am having a hard time looking part and considering getting something different and still keeping this on its just way too small for the property project. If you don't mind I would enjoy chatting with you about yours. Thanks keep up with the videos Thanks Dale

Cheers Dale, sadly it's a fake made from leftover deck lumber, designed as a garbage can box, the roof and half the back are counter weighted to lift up with one hand. 🤪

Quite a packed load Perry. The snowmobile helmet came in handy with those winds, keep you pretty warm?

What are you using for tires and or chains on your tractor?

Hi Jeremy, I got a set of AG tires for the bigger BX2380, they have a bit better performance in the forest. I'm not using chains, the trick is to use lots of ballast weight out back to push in the back tires. I have a std ballast box full of heavy landscaping blocks.

@@perrynewhook5464 Thank you Perry! As a equipment operator i am impressed with what you do and how well you do it with that little tractor. I think its convinced me that its enough for what i need around my property!
