Today I got a load of stone in the Moritz Dump Trailer, Then Sawed another red pine log on the woodmizer sawmill. Also looked a suspension upgrade on our F 150, and talked about two tractor brands that will not be here.

Glad to see that you put that saw dust pile in the perfect place for Piper and Ruger to help spread the saw dust around. Seeing Piper playing in the saw dust reminded me of playing the the big leaf pile that my Pop use to rake from the lawn in the fall. Great video M&M, thumbs up.

Hey, Mike, In keeping with your "on site material/low cost" guidelines, try using household vinegar as a weathering agent to color your woodshed. One gallon of water, one gallon of white vinegar, and a half-pad of steel wool (or a half-dozen, non-galv. framing nails) mixed in a 5 gal. bucket. Let the pad steep in the vinegar overnight, and the solution will pick up iron oxide from the steel. The 2 gallons of vinegar/iron-oxide solution can be mixed with another 2 gals. clean water. This gives you four gallons of solution for your garden sprayer; zero "environmental impact," dog-friendly, and insects don't love it. Turns pine and cedar an instant "dove gray;" oak will turn almost black. The strength of the solution (you can further dilute it w/more water) affects the tone of the finish: More vinegar = darker wood. Experiment on your off-cuts that've dried to, say, 15% m.c. Woodshed will look ancient (and continue aging) as soon as the solution dries. Come back in late spring and spray with water-soluble, urethane mat-finish, or just leave it alone. Any kind of commercial finish will require upkeep, and it's a woodshed, right?

I think Mike is holding out for a Steiger Tiger 500 or maybe a Big Bud 747! These would really get the job done ... may need to widen the trails, but could they haul out the wood! 😲 Can’t wait time see the wood shed finally finished as it has been a great release from all the COVID news watching it being constructed. Thanks Hey Hunter! ✋🏻👴🏻

Hi Mike, I have log siding on my house. I use CWF made by the Flood Corp. I use the “clear” version. It gives the wood a natural, honey tone. It fades after a few years and you have to do a re-coat, but there is no pealing or flaking. You never have to scrape or wire brush it, just brush more on.

Hey Mike, A good weight distribution hitch would improve the ride and handling while towing the trailer better than anything else. Adding rear airbags or springs will actually put more weight on the rear axle of your truck and make the front lighter . A weight distribution hitch will distribute the weight more evenly between the front and rear axles of your truck, improving handling and safety. .

Mike I hope you appreciate what a real treasure you have with Melissa. Also I see you are tractorless so I didn't remember seeing when you got rid of your Kubota tractor you have before the RK tractors. I think you are going back with Kubota. I'd stain that green-wood shed inside and out. It'll maintain even moisture and not take to rot on the inside of the building, especially towards the ground. I toss a piece of plastic sheet down to cover the gravel, otherwise stain drips all over the gravel and it looks kind of sloppy. Once I get a radial-arm saw I want another big toy with Woodmizer on the side. LoL Looks like a lot of fun. Great job on the shed. Real straight and square. It ain't easy. I'll buy some of that cherry wood if it's for sale. I use 1 1\2" to 2" stock in short lengths for knife handles. Cherry works real good for knife and machete handles.

Well hello Morgan Family! Got a bit side tracked but I'm back, been watching off road recovery in Utah. Matt from "Matt's off road recovery" is a gentleman like yourself and well worth a watch. Tractors? Not RK because when you say it is over , it is. Not Bobcat, okay, was never a guess for me but being an Aussie and enjoying the music from over there I am reminded of the words from a song " I drive a John Deere tractor, I'm a liberated man". Mike you are liberated just by agreeing that work needs to be done and is actually fun. Look forward to finding out the deal.

I'm a firm believer that if a tractor does what you need it to do it's a good tractor. The brand or the color doesn't really matter to me. My favorite tractor that I use quite a bit is a 1979 Ford 3600. That old thing is quite the workhorse! In addition to it I also run a couple of John Deere tractors, mainly because the dealer/service is nearby.

There are a lot of good tractors out there now but it really depends on what you need one for . I looked at them all and decided on a Branson 3520R back in 2015 . In less than 2 years it had 900hrs on it clearing 7 acres of property , building a 1/2 acre pond , a 1000' driveway , laying 1000' water line , digging a foundation for the new home , bush hogging and digging up countless stumps with the backhoe . It takes it easier now and has 966 hrs total so far . It's been a beast and well worth what I paid . It was going to be between a Kioti and Mahindra before I ran across the Branson .

I did not notice Melissa's slight stumbles. I did notice she poses with the grace, form, and poise of a model. I saw this by the trailer and on the grass. I also noticed, at the sawmill she worked, "Like a Navvie" (canal digging laborer) as the English say.. Nor did she lose a step or a bit of grace, where it counted. Melissa quickly flagged her slight flaws. Now before I finished this, I played Sammy Kershaw's " She Don't She's Beautiful " ( Matching songs to situations is weakness of mine, part of my Autistic pattern matching. ) Of course, this a great part of her charm and shining spirit. God Bless and Protect you al, my friends.

If you want a simple, inexpensive treatment that will weather, you can try a equal parts turpentine and linseed oil. It will soak in well and is easy to apply with brush, roller, spray. You can also add some pigment if you want a semi transparent color.

My guess is a John Deere 4066R with a cab. Similar in size to the RK55. Also, it was John Deere that allowed Mike to showcase the skid loader and forestry mower. So they have already worked together. Mike told us earlier he has grown to really appreciate the cab tractor since he cleared larger trails with the skid loader. And he probably needs 50+ hp to run the new chipper and skidding winch effectively. That's my educated guess! Impatiently waiting to hear the news! Ha!

Hi Mike & Melissa! Glad to hear the new tractor is not a Bobcat, because if it was you might as well have gone with a New Holland, since they are making the first generation of tractors for Bobcat. Plus as I understand it, Bobcat tried making tractors once before and got out of the market, so I wouldn’t trust them to stay in the market. A lot of commenters are hoping it will be a Kioti and I hear they make really good tractors. I would have considered one myself, but they don’t have a strong dealership network in the Deep South yet. I’m still happy with my Kubota L3901. Looking forward to see what your next tractor is. Stay safe and well!

4:00 you should cut two pieces of ply wood to lay in your dump bed because loading stone, dirt, gravel in it is going to eat the metal bed up. To keep it from sliding out use some clear caulk, RTV, under the back piece, thats what I did and my bed is still rust free and the ply wood lasted 4 years. Even some thick card board could work too. I paid 4,550. for mine and yours is way better. I even tarp my trailer to keep rain out of it.

FYI: if your moisture meter is anything like the one I've got, you might want to take a close look at the rubber caps for the pins, and see if they don't have holes on the working end. On mine, they do and they are designed so that they *don't need to be removed to use the meter*. The points stick through the holes, and the rubber just folds up as you push the pins in. The pins are long enough that you get an accurate reading even with that extra little spacing that the rubber covers make. So, you just leave the rubber caps on. They're there to help you avoid scraping yourself with the meter, but you can just leave them on when you're checking moisture levels, and so no risk of forgetting to put the back on. That's assuming, of course, that you did eventually remember to go pick the caps up off the trailer (several other people also pointed out that you left them there :) ).

Good morning Mike and Melissa. Enjoying my coffee and your video this rainy morning. I've had great success with Sansin Enviro Stain. Its a water based log and siding stain. Not sure if there are any dealers close to you, but it can be shipped. Good luck on the tractor deal. 👍

Benjamin Moore ArborCoat Oil Base . Its awesome. Also can look for Cabot's Oil Base Preservative. Oil is the best. It comes in colors and natural. Seals the wood from weather and sunlight. I used it on 1x8 tongue and groove knotty pine for siding. It lasts for years.

Was planning to get a sawmill to be able to do something with hundreds of pine trees killed by the bark beetle. By the time I could get them down and processed they were rotten. Now I’m stacking them on the burn piles. Literally thousands of board feet wasted. Breaks my heart.

Id say a Kioti tractor would be a good fit! I had never seen or heard of them and wasnt really serous about getting one, till I looked at them! Came home with a Kioti! Very old and well proven powertrains, and the tractors have alot of standard stuff others charge alot for! Its been over a year and not 1 problem! None of the hype at a reasonable price!People can say what they want but im paying the money so dont care! compare all with a fair look and you will see the appeal!

I would say Kioti would be a swell addition. But then I am a bit biased.

Mike when you go to pick up your roofing you might want to think about getting a 1 gallon garden sprayer dedicated for stain only , and some paint filters to strained your stain when you put it in to the sprayer , when you go to stain your buildings . Just something to consider ... have a day

Ok, since it's not Bobcat, my second guess is John Deere. Why, because you seemed to have a good relationship with the dealership that let you demo the ,forestry head.

The three best tractor brands are Yanmar, John Deer, and Kubota hands down. Yanmar at one time made 4X4 tractors for John Deer, so they have been around for a long time.

Mike, what tractor implements do you have that were not part of the RK deal? I'm guessing firewood bucket, land plane, grapple bucket and maybe box blade. Been watching Melissa's videos, but you know, she is at her best when you two are together! Maybe it's a guy thing. Whatever tractor you go with you will make them proud! 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
