750MC Hot Hatch Championship 2017 Snetterton race 2 VLOG!!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Ok, so my first attempt at vlogging whilst racing!
Hopefully a unique approach and something I can build on.
if there are any sound engineers out there, please help me get some clear vocal recordings!
The noise just blows out the mic!
Anyway, second race, watch and find out!
Thanks again to all my sponsors who really support and take an interest in my results.
And my family who keep me going when I feel like its all going wrong.

    Awesome driving fella I was there watching, they have DSG paddle gearboxes with way more power than you and your not a million miles off! Huge money builds hats off to you, even with there power I suspect with a H pattern like you the'd be lapping a good bit slower than you! Fair play.

    Thanks Dave! I'm working on fixes and updates now, hopefully sponsors will step in when they see the pace we have with issues. All things working spot on, I think I would have had at least a half second in the bag from the brakes, and possibly another quarter of a second if I toned down the oversteer. I think I might have to make the front splitter smaller!!!!

    Great racing Ben, you may want to look into building a k24 frank engine for more power. using a accord 2.4 block with a type r head. If i remember correctly these can reliably make 260-270 naturally aspirated while maintaining alot of oem parts

    I can't believe you are V-logging just before a race Ben! I'm usually so nervous with so many things going through my head that I can't think of anything just before a race. You may find a throat microphone works better, the type that are used for the motorbike radios etc? Fantastic driving as always, my video from Brands this weekend won't be as exciting as yours! Also driving a car with less power and sketchy brakes you seem to keep up pretty well!

    David Russell-Wilks straight line the braking zone at druids....you can brake later and deeper to the apex...slow the car down more and cut the exit. Cuts off something like 14m from the circuit length compared to the traditional sweeping high corner speed line. Paddock...go 2-3mph faster than you think you should haha...it's a mental corner and you normally slow down more than you should.

  • @davidrussellwilks

    @davidrussellwilks

    7 жыл бұрын

    Ben Rushworth I tried a later turn in at Druids and it seemed to work well, did the same a Graham Hill to tried and make the straight as long as possible. Great advice! Still struggling with Paddock, looking at my video there is still 1-2 feet on the outside of the circuit I am not using and this pushes me wide later, more work to do!

    Great saves in the long radius corners . However is your rear bar setup to be too stiff ? do you prefer a slightly oversteering setup ?

  • @BenR22

    @BenR22

    Bar isn't too stiff, it's corrected now with a raised rear roll center and softer rear springs. But same rear bar. Oversteer is fun, but not fast.

    Hey Ben great stuff. To help with your mic getting blown from the wind. Look up a dead kitten mic cover. And I'm not joking that's the name. Some nice cams would really help you out for power. Also have you looked into a over sized master cylinder?

  • @BenR22

    @BenR22

    7 жыл бұрын

    If you look on my lapel you can see the mic I'm using, its a Removu item, and I cant control levels etc. It has a waterproof cover that might help numb things and a foam wind cover, not that sophisticated, but might work. But I think its just the pure volume inside the car rather than wind. I only have that tiny sliding window next to me and barely any airflow moves though it. ....that I can feel haha.

    I've been watching your videos recently after coming across them with some of the Civic Cup stuff and other track related tips and tricks. One thing I noticed is you pumping the brake pedal constantly whilst driving - why is that done? Is it to keep them at temperature so they bite correctly when you need them to?

  • @BenR22

    @BenR22

    3 жыл бұрын

    In this particular video, it's because the brakes a failing. But a left foot tap is a brake check before you use them. To reposition the pads closer to the disc if there has been any knock back and in a servo assist car, to deplete a bit of the vacuum reservoir to firm up the pedal.

    Far be it from me to criticise, but you seem to be throwing the car around a bit. It appears to have ample amounts of front grip, maybe it would respond better to smoother, more delicate inputs. The grip is phenomenal, you should have that car dancing rather than wagging its tail... Just a very amateurish thought. Great driving nonetheless and great car 👍🏼

  • @BenR22

    @BenR22

    7 жыл бұрын

    Tom Ellis thanks for the critique, I'll definitely be trying to smooth up the drive for not outing. But in the same breath, turn one, where the majority of oversteer happens has quite, imo, a gentle turn in. The combination of trailing the brakes and a large front splitter and from tyres, I think any amount of dainty driving will still result in oversteer. The turn in oversteer gives a false sense of entry speed, and retrospectively, I should of entered even faster, scrubbed speed off during the entry phase and used more of the track on exit. That's primarily for Richies, and the bomb hole. Sometimes you just have to go fast and deal with the issues. I was never going to pass the bmw using conventional lines to keep speed up...because he was on the line.

  • @taepl0x2

    @taepl0x2

    7 жыл бұрын

    Ben Rushworth Yeah Richies is very fast isn't so I can understand the problem, I just feel like it'd be awesome to see you turn in, little bit of steering correction and then back on the power rather than an 'oooooooooge slide... If trial braking is causing loads of issues it may be possible to brake slightly earlier and get the braking done before you turn in and then roll through and try and carry as much speed as possible on the apex... I'm like you though I prefer to trial brake if possible... Probably better to try and set the car up to your driving style which I'm sure you'll manage to do

  • @davemellor4697
    @davemellor46976 жыл бұрын

    Sorry,but how can you concentrate 100% when your talking and performing a tap dancing show? Your car has way too much over-steer,and you are waiting to catch that rather than powering through the corner,making a clean exit,and power down the straights. I have to say when people start pumping there brakes,it only puts people off and more often than not you get a smack up the rear because people are caught out.All the wayward driving looks good but in reality its slower and messier. I dont know what lap times you were doing but i guess 2.16 or there abouts,i recon you can save at least a second in the set up,it looks miles too hard on the rear....
