Hi Frank, hope your well mate & good to see your taking on new projects (The Honda XL 250) such an iconic bike of our day 😎 I'm not sure if you remember around 3 weeks a month ago I was on the hunt for an Africa Twin and finally after months of searching, messaging back n forth, vehicle checks etc a 1991 RD04 appeared up in Barcelona which is 7 hours drive from us... Anyway to cut a long story short I'm now the proud 3rd owner of the AT and I'm pretty sure the kilometers 32,000 are legit ;-) when I start her the motor sounds crisp but anyway I'll try to add some pictures but not sure how to on here, maybe on my Chanel 😉

You can actually buy the flat mini resistors. That way you won't run the risk of shorting something with the long, bare leads of the resistor. If I remember correctly, I had to solder in a second one in a different place to enable the miles per hour readout, which you can then switch to by loooong pressing the right button.

I would like to put voltages meter but there I need to weld it ?

I know this is an old vid, but I’m looking for a way to change my Tripmaster from kph to mph…. Cheers mate

Additionally you can choose between mileage and kilometer distance display by inserting/removing an additional resistor at the point marked with MILE in the same way. However, there is a small problem with this modification: If you press the "reset" switch while in speed mode, the tripmaster hangs. It needs a complete reset then, which can be done by pressing the clock adjustment (time and adjust at the same time) and everything returns to the normal condition. Additionally, the SPEED display doesn't switch to miles if you insert the resistor, which would have been an excellent option for bikes assembled with an km/h analog speedometer and imported to a mph country ... Perhaps this "techical lack" is the reason why the SPEED display is disabled by default.

And how does it read the speed? It's an analog sensor in the wheel right? How does it convert it to digital? Does it show the same as the analog clock speedo?
