At 15:27 the man near the truck was hit in the foot by the lightening going through the ground. You can see sparks under his foot just before he fell. That is why he was limping and pain showed on his face when he tried to get away and fell to the ground again.

You are 100% correct! I had thought the same thing. But when the narrator guy said he wasn't I just let it go. But when I was reading comments & saw this I went back slowed it down & zoomed in. Your right, it sure did travel through the ground & got at least the one guy! Nice catch👍

I have found that often the person narrating doesn't have a clue about the videos they are showing. You could clearly see the man was hit by the lightning traveling through the trailer. Wasn't hurt at all but rolls around obviously in a lot of pain..!

I sat in my recliner during a storm. Lightning hit the power pole 50 feet away. A finger of electricity shot from the pole, through the window, and hit me right above my right eye. The impact knocked me back. I ended up with a black eye and vision problems for several years. Imagine if the entire bolt had hit me?

Lived in Yuma AZ for 5 years, and monsoon season during fall/winter is nothing to sneeze at. Driving home from a shift at night in 2001, it was blessedly raining and then lightning struck a transformer 30 feet away. We coasted to a stop, since the vehicle died, once we could see again: it was so bright, bluish-white and the sound was instant. The rain put out the transformer fire and our vehicle started again after that pause. Safest place to be is inside a vehicle. Edit: 21:42 it's not the outside moisture along the path of the strike, but the tree sap instantly boiling from the heat and the steam release while under pressure, all in micro-seconds.

@@richardmagnus5672 There is moisture all through a white pine, and lightning will boil it all. Bark blows off, wood shatters, and pine does potentially have sap all t6he way through. Turpentine historically harvested from fir trees, pitch pockets , lumber purchased at Lowes or Rona,, fresh sap will exude from any void or source within the wood. All moisture within a living tree can be boiled off, once the moisture passes the critical temperature and pressure of water, Kaboom. very non specific.

Been struck by lightning twice. Once in the truck, once on a sailboat. The truck and myself were just plain shut off, exactly as you describe. Like someone threw a switch. I awoke at the wheel, the truck restarted,, but never ran right again. Sold for parts not long after. The sailboat, I got whacked pretty good. A full year plus to recovery. I figure the third time,, I won't have a thing to worry about. Someone else will have to collect the detritus and bury it.

@@stevengill1736 As noted above, exact same circumstance for me, plus, shutting me off. I was aware of the moment of the strike on the power pole beside the truck. 70, or 80 feet away? ( I do not remember if there were transformers on the pole.) For me,, I felt exactly as though I were awakening in the morning, well rested, coming to before the alarm could wake me. But odd, there was something cool and hard against my forehead, "What could that be?" I yawned and my eyes fluttered open and ,, It was a steering wheel !!! I then became aware of the downpour and other drivers at the intersection stopped and staring at me. The EMP or some portion of the charge had shut off the truck and myself as well. Instant, like throwing a switch. The truck restarted with the key, never was right again, some circuits just gone. Could say the same about me, but neither I nor anyone around ever noted a difference. Then again,, I have had a few screws loose all my life. Mensa, mildly dyslexic. No way to tell. No baseline.

In the 1970s I was fishing with a friend under the wharf at the port of Fremantle West Australia to keep out of the rain when a bolt of lightning struck the water about 6 to 8 feet in front of us, our ears were ringing for 3 days as well. We also had the imprint of the lightning in our eyes for a fair while. (It was a Whiteish Blue bar just under a metre across) Luckily it was low-tide or we would have had our feet dangling in the water.

Had a lightning bolt hit a huge Cottonwood Tree across the street from me. I was on the telephone and just happened to look out the window about 2 seconds before it struck the tree......the brightest light, and the tree exploded. Not to mention the sound. It litterally "skinned" the bark off the tree, and split it. Pieces of the tree went everywhere. Like to scare me to death. Was a block away from downtown Bozeman, Montana. It killed the tree and the city had to come and cut down that big ole tree....

I grew up on a lake, we had a 30 ft lighting rod mounted on the end of our dock, lighting would hit that rather than out house, it was a spectator sport growing up. It may be the reason I didn't jump when lighting struck the road in front of my armored car, my poor passenger freaked out though. I heard him telling the super about it, he said I didn't react to it, and must have ice water in my veins. But I did react to it, I said, "Oh sh*t".

  • @BrilloHead

    @BrilloHead

    6 сағат бұрын

It wouldn't be easy to store that energy since it's sudden and unpredictable. And even if you could store that energy, where do you store that instant jump in energy? Charging it into a battery would cause the battery to explode due to a sudden and excessive current. As for capacitors, it would be huge and stationary. No guarantee a lightning will strike it every time.

One summer, I was working at the front desk of a motel and campground in the Canadian Rockies. I lived in a trailer on the back end of the property. One day, a thunder and lightning storm was working it's way down the valley towards us - very bright and very loud.. Lightning hit the trailer where some other employees lived; it literally blew a hole through the roof and into the trailer. Another bolt hit our water well - All of my lights were turned off, but the lightning strike turned all of my lights back on..Took a couple of days to get the well repaired; in the meantime, no one had running water. A couple of years later, while I was in college, I was living in an apartment in downtown Calgary. Watched the lightning hit the building across the street. Quite spectacular.

As shown in that one clip. some lightning travels from the ground to the clouds above. When i was in Junior High, our principal told us of when he was struck by lightning. He was a farmer at the time, and while out in a field on his tractor, an electrical storm came up suddenly and lightning struck him. He was knocked out of the seat of the tractor, he had a bald spot the size of a quarter on his head (the lightning evidently hit him in the button on top of his cap, which in those days was cloth-covered metal) and burnt through the soles of his shoes as it passed through him, traveling through the tractor into the ground. He said it was one of the most frightening things that had ever happened to him.

Planes getting struck in the air are usually safe, but on the ground, the bolt end up going through the landing gear linkages, wheel bearings, wheels, and tires, so all of those parts will likely need replacement. In fact in the video shown, you can see that happening at the wheels, 7:34.

I was in a 747, leaving Johannesburg, South Africa, when the plane was hit by lightening just about 15 seconds after take-off. It sounded like we had been hit by another 747. Quite a few passengers screamed in fear.

When I was 16 my best friend died from a lighting strike hitting him on top of his head and came out of his foot. He was stuck out in a lake when him and his dad went fishing and had a surprise storm blow through. I think of him often 😥

Im a lightning magnet.... Ive been within 100 feet of strikes over 10 times and was shocked by a close strike that left me unconscience for 5 or so minutes, woke up in the yard soaking wet about 10 feet from where I was standing when I got zapped, there was a weird bruse on my chest and leg where I had been leaning against the downspout of the gutter system

Lightning discharges are powerful enough to generate a substantial amount of x-rays. Also, if you're on a tall mountain peak during lightning buildup, metal objects like wire attached to the ground can start to buzz as coronal discharge happens due to the high potential building up. If you ever hear that it's a good time to get to lower altitude ASAP as lightning can soon follow. And back in the dialup modem days, people's modems could be burned out if lightning hit near the phone lines....

In the video with the woman who did yoga you could see fire/sparks from the electric outlets when the lightning struck somewhere very close (or in the house). I have experienced that myself twice in my life. At the first occasion I was in a kitchen and it came fire from even the hobs of the electric stove. The second time the lightning created a small hole in a corner of my microwave owen. Very interesting experiences both of them. 😃

57 years ago my Father was on a piece of heavy equipment in the Adirondack Mountains when a huge lightning bolt hit the man next to him killing him instantly. What Dad didn’t know was that same bolt hit my Mom (who was 3 months pregnant-she lost the baby and thankfully back then she COULD GET APPROPRIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION AND NOT HAVE TO DIE) luckily she shared the bolt with our dog on a metal leash standing on metal stairs. My Mom still has tinnitus. She now has dementia. I was only 5 months old.

I just read in my local paper that a man, who went out on the beach to warn teenagers of an approaching storm was found dead 7 minutes later, was killed by a lightning strike. The township that delayed and delayed in the purchase of a system to warn people on the beach of approaching storms finally had ordered it a week ago.

It is just common sense. Crazy that some people think that there has been no proven cases of lightning death haven't been heard ever in there lives. Some think that it's not a creature that is out there to come kill them. Which it false and true. Lightning isn't a creature it's energy. Energy that is extremely orthodox. You know it's there you just can't tell what it's going to do next. Almost like a magician but on steroids.

When I was 18 I moved out of my mom's house and lived with a friend. One night I was at my mom's house watching a late movie and decided to spend the night at her house in my old room and there was a bad thunder storm. When I went to my friends house where I was living and walked in my room. My bed which was right next to the window had shards of glass from the window due to a lightening strike. I would not be typing this today had I not stayed over at my mom's house that night.

I once found a piece of a tree that had been blown off with enough force that it cut a trench 8 inches wide and about 6 inches deep that was about 100 yards long. The piece of wood was about a yard long, 8 inches wide and 4 inches thick. Solid oak is pretty hard and heavy too. It was in a hay field and we found pieces of that tree scattered in every direction with pieces of bark as much as 150 yards away. We found a branch in another treetop that was about 50 yards away. I actually saw the lightning hit the tree before the rain started and saw debris falling and burning leaves floating in the air. I have seen a lightning strike the ground just a few feet away from me and once had lightning hit a bridge just a couple feet from my car.

Aircraft are struck repeatedly and regularly. They are designed for it. That’s what the little pointy things are on the trailing edges of the wings and tail are. They fly around storms for A. Passenger comfort. B. To not put the aircraft in places that could cause structural stress or failure.
