    I nice format Salomon, also you are wise to have a healthy buffer. Returning from a 10c Ville de Québec yesterday, we drove through the Jacques Cartier N Park ( -2c) we run into one hell of a blizzard which lasted for circa 15 minutes of the journey. Our consumption rose from 16.3 KWh to 19.1 KWh per 100 kilometres.

    Hey Dennis...most Southerly town in Ontario? Kingsville? That is where I live and we picked up our Kona EV 2 weeks ago...2023 model. We love this car! Did you get one as well? Thanks and have a good night! Mike 🇨🇦 🍁 👍

    It would be great to include the change in elevation for those not from Edmonton or Alberta. Excellent video BTW. I was planning on making this trip when I get my EV. I will admit that the Flo chargers are a bit disappointing being only 50kw. Also it's good to see 2 charging locations in Edson. 6 months ago there were none.

    I will try to include these in future videos when the change is significant. I do hope they put some hyperchargers on that route since more and more non-Tesla EVs are capable of charging at 150kW or more.

    What was your heat pump consumption at that temperature? It's interesting to compare to my Kona without heat pump. The weather is similar to yours here in Ukraine nowdays.

    The battery heater consumes 2kW when trying to heat up the battery and the battery heater only turns on when plugged in 99.9% of the time. I have seen one instance of the battery heater turning on when not plugged in and I believe the vehicle was trying to prevent power limiting due to cold battery.

    Hello, waiting to receive our 2022 Kona EV. Will likely arrive this Feb. What type of winter tire did you purchase? Is there a recommended type for electric vehicles?

    I am using Continental Viking Contact 7, these are what the dealership suggested and I haven't tried any other winter tires on my Kona. The Viking Contact 7 seems to work well but I don't have any others to compare.

  • @READYSTEADYCHARGE

    I remember I used cabin heating of around 20C with the fan setting to 4 for most of this trip. I do use the heated seats and heated steering wheel a lot because those use much less energy than heating the air.

    Nice video, I am about to drive my 2021 Kona ev for the first winter. I averaged 7.5 klms per kWh in the summer and am wondering what range I’ll get in the winter. Do you find 5 is about normal for you in the winter, I’m in Ontario, a little further south than you. Have you heard anything about Tesla selling super charger adapters and allowing non Teslas to charge?

  • @READYSTEADYCHARGE

    @READYSTEADYCHARGE

    I would say 5km/kWh is the consumption for mild winter highway driving or -10 to -15C mixed/city driving. When I drive at 120km/hr on the highway around -25 to -30C the consumption could go up to 4km/kWh. I haven't heard anything about supercharger adapters for non-Tesla. I think they need to workout all the kinks in their Netherlands Supercharger opening for non-Tesla first before even considering the same thing in NA.

    hi Is there a reason u didn't use the Tesla fast charger with ur adapter at Edson? :)

  • @READYSTEADYCHARGE

    @READYSTEADYCHARGE

    The adaptor could only be used for AC charging and not for DC fast charging at Superchargers. On top of that, the adaptor I have is only rated for up to 10kW.

    I have tried doing these conversions with my Kona but have found the percentage doesn't follow Kwhs in a linear fashion. Especially above 90% . It's like the 90 to 100% is really only 5%. I haven't tried it at the lower end yet.

  • @READYSTEADYCHARGE

    Your observation is correct. The Kona seems to have very little energy from 90% to 100% and seems to hide some extra energy in the 0% to 10% SoC. Which I think is a better than the reverse. I forgot where I heard this but some people say the battery % follows voltage or amp hour.

    You can order a card from the Flo app. I believe it is $10 to get a card. This card will also work with BC Hydro and comes in handy when traveling to BC.

    The setting in the instrument cluster menu on the 2020 Kona allows consumption to be displayed as either km/kWh or kWh/100km. I don't think it allows for display of kWh/km.
