Definitely...cutting logs, splitting firewood is my relaxing time...just being outside getting some fresh air and accomplishing something. I was the same way when I was working, could not wait to get home to work on the house, yard, etc...lol...it was, and now in retirement is my therapy ...I guess u would call it being Zen....as long as I can...I will own my own home and work outside....wife asked me to minimize my ladder climbing and big tree felling ...outsource to the pros...I still maintain 10 face cords of firewood for the fireplace, and 3 face cords for the fire pit ......always have 3 cords to split, and recent felled trees to chainsaw into logs...My two friends have the bigger Ryobi battery chainsaws....I have used them w beefier amp hour batteries, will have to look at the Stihl....32 yrs w my Stihl 028 Wood Boss, 3 w my MS170....having a battery saw to compliment these two makes sense!

I'm with Mike on the Stihl 220. I used mine for the first time today on the top a wind blown Cyprus. Multiple branches ranging from hundreds of skinny dead ones that take the edge off the chain through to the biggest at about 13". I used two batteries, first battery still had some charge after an hours cutting when we stopped for lunch, I put it on charge anyway. The second lasted an hour and a half before going dead with no sign of power loss. We cut a lot in that time me cutting and Tony stacking. Ok so I'll have to use my gas powered saws for the bigger stuff but I'm impressed so far. It cuts probably as fast as my Stihl MS250, I'm no Buckin Billy Ray when it come to sharpening but he's taught me a lot. Minor gripes are I pinched my finger several times squeezing the trigger and saw dust gets into the battery compartment, not sure how the latter will be if it's wet?

Really impressed with the chipper video as there is just something very satisfyingly to see the chipper work (but the mill still rocks). And I have a couple of battery chainsaws and they too have become my "go to" saws as they are just too easy to use and I'm not building a log cabin. Great video and thanks for sharing, Hey Hunter! ✋🏻👴🏻

Mr Morgan the saw is nice for small stuff you can hear it working on the bigger stuff.. I sure hope Stihl can make an electric saw that rips thru big wood one day I wood buy it! As for the wood splitting I think it would almost be less work to swing an axe on that straight grained wood, cut it split it in place, then all you have to do is pick up split wood just my 2cents and it's a great work out

Did you ever give any thought to creating windrows of split wood to season the wood? For example, relative to where the camera is at the end of the video, move the splitter and conveyor to the extreme left of the "landing" and make a big pile of wood. Then move the set up to the right, say 10 feet, and add to the pile. Keep moving to the right until you run out of room. Then start another windrow. With the portable equipment it would perhaps be easier to move the equipment than to handle the wood multiple times. Just a thought...

Have a question. Have you ever measured the moisture content of the center part of the wood, as opposed to the out rings. Since new growth and fluid come up the other area. Just wondering. I also know that during the late fall winter times not as much sap is produced from what I under stand. Is the moisture content less if cut during that time of the year? Reason for the question? If you were going to cut logs for the mill would it be better to cut in the winter saving drying time. Any experts out there?

Great little saw! How much does it weigh? Can you use it with one hand? The only thing I have against battery operated tools is that your setting up an annuity with the company you buy it from and some of them charge almost as much for the battery as they do for the tool. Don’t get me wrong, they do have their place, but dragging out an extension cord over a reasonable distance is no big deal, especially if it means not filling up a landfill with dead batteries some where! Can’t imagine what they are going to do with these electric car batteries when they need replacing!

Mike, I would love to see you get Buckin Billy Ray to run that saw, and cut down a tree when he comes to visit!

Do you ever have an issue with the chain coming off? I had two Harbor freight 16 inch saws and now I have a Milwaukee 16 inch Saw and they have the same problem with chain coming off.

Have you ever done a time comparison video of just pulling the wood from the side by side vs pulling it off and stacking it on the splitter arm? Not sure if it would be quicker to just pull it off the side by side?

I could say without a doubt that it would be quicker, but usually Melissa is there loading it off the SxS onto the splitter and Mike can split continuously. And for only doing one SxS load (with video shooting in mind), the 1 minute saved is really insignificant.
