Who are Kara and Nate?!
Watch our documentary here: • 100th COUNTRY DOCUMENTARY
Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment.
We discovered the world of “travel hacking” while planning our honeymoon & became addicted ;)
So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world.
Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went back home to “normal life.” We started this channel to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with living on the road and found a new passion for capturing our travels through video. So we did everything we could to keep going.
4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time!
After ~2 years of van life, we are back to full time international traveling! And now we are in our 9TH YEAR of finding the best adventures the world has to offer :)
We are incredibly grateful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎 Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey!

I used to get coffee every morning for my wife, she’s been gone 3 years now, I miss doing it, I miss her. Seeing you do it for Kara is bitter sweet. I’d give anything to be able to do it again.

The sweet romance moments, how goofy they are together, their genuine excitement over everything they experience. I have been a huge fan for many years now, and I was always impressed by your storytelling. Today, something else hit me. The work and effort you put into your editing, and for lack of a better word, cinematography is outstanding. I really do enjoy each episode. Leavenworth is absolutely worth a visit! It might be a smidge touristy, but going in the winter when they have their holiday festivities, it has a special magic to it! The views of the Cascades covered in snow make it even more enchanting. - Gary
North Dakotan here! As a resident of Minot it was hilarious listening to you guys try to pronounce Minot. Its been an ugly winter of snows and melts but come summer, our state is actually quite beautiful. If you ever need another place to journey I recommend the Turtle Mountains up by Canada and the what we call the badlands near Teddy Roosevelt National Park. Love your channel so much you two are awesome. Glad North Dakota peaked some interest to someone finally lol 😂. Much love ❤

You guys 100% need to stay in Chicago longer. As someone who lives less than an hour away, it definitely deserves its own video! There are sooooo many things to do and see and it really is an amazing city!
I’m only about halfway in, but two thoughts: 1. Ted Lasso is awesome. I’ve watched all the way through at least 4 times and I discover new insights each time. Love. 2. Kudos for Nate’s correct pronunciation of ‘bruschetta.’ Bravo. ETA a number 3. I’ve missed a train in Chicago before even though I was at Chicago Union Station ahead of my train’s departure. To anyone reading this - don’t mess around and get there plenty early. Since many trains originate in Chicago, they handle things a little differently there. They will call your train in the grand hall and then will escort you as a group to the train. Learn from my mistake, which resulted in a long uncomfortable Greyhound bus ride. Don’t miss the train!

This video is the most reflective of the Amtrak experience out of the (many) other KZread reviews out there. The endless repeated announcements. The sounds of walking between carriages. 👍 The man who comes to your door loudly announcing what he’s about to do.

I vote that you guys go back to Chicago sometime! It’s definitely in my opinion, a very underrated city. I had more fun in Chicago than I’ve had anywhere else. They have tons to do, especially the tours, which are amazing. I did eat at Pequods and I gave it 10\10. The sunset tour from Navy pier on a sailboat gives you an awesome view of the skyline. Both sides of the media like to give you lots of negatives about Chicago, and honestly I don’t live there so I can’t tell you, but I can say that I never had any bad experiences while visiting.

Chicago is a great town. Prettiest either right after a good snow, or in June, before it gets too hot. It'd be cool to see them spend a few days there.
Fun video guys. My husband and 4 children took the Empire Builder from Seattle to Minneapolis. We didn't have a sleeper car. The coach seats were pretty nice. Much bigger than an airline seat. Lots of leg room. They reclined with foot rests. We had a blast on the way there. Trip back home was rough with a broken door between our car and the next. Could have really used duct tape, lol😂 I think the more we travel, the more critical we get. Hope you are still having fun.
The train is so much less stress than driving in the van. You get more sleep, food & even showers on the train. Win…win…win…with the train. I’ve taken Amtrak from San Bernardino to Seattle to Sandpoint. 👍👍Two thumbs up!

My husband and I did this ride last year with our 12 year old. The room we got (the largest one) was pretty small for 3 people but it wasn't too, too bad. The sound kept me up most nights, but I'm a light sleeper. Overall the ride itself was smooth. When we got to Pittsburgh it was really late at night and not a great area to be walking around while we waited for the next train (which was delayed due to them needing to get a new engine) but luckily we found ONE restaurant that was open. Biggest downside of the entire route for us was no mountain views, the thing we were all hoping to see most. Amtrak had to give right-of-way to freight trains on the tracks so by the time we got to Glacier it was pitch black, couldn't see anything. We all loved the food though and were pleasantly surprised by it and the staff and our neighbors were great. The viewing car was so full most of the ride across the country we only got to spend a few minutes in there. Not sure I'd suggest the ride to others but it was nice to "see" some of the states! We're trying to get all 50 and currently at 45.
We went on the Empire Builder also in Feb. We went to Van Couver, WA so we were on the Portland part of the train after Spokane, WA. We saw about 15 bald eagles by the river. It was so cool. Glad you enjoyed your trip to Seattle. Your Canadian trip looks wonderful .

Crazy,! I used to live in Minot ND and Havre MT. Both are stops on the Empire Builder (I've taken that train between both cities multiple times) It does get brutally cold. Coldest I've seen was -60F actual temp, with -80 windchill. Block heaters are a must during the winter or a heated garage. Yeah, there is a thing called ND Nice. I lived in Minot during the Oil boom when the Bakken was discovered. Williston went from around 2,000 people to over 20,000 in just a few years. Minot as well boomed from 12,000 to close to 40,000 by the time I left. It's good to see Amtrak has refurbished the seats since I was on them last. Glad you see you both go through my old stomping grounds :D

Hi Kara and Nate! I have been watching your lovely videos since 2020 and you've helped me with a lot with your positivity and with great advice too! Thank you for sharing your wonderful travel experiences with us! You're the best!!❤😊
I took the same route back in 2006. Right after Albany we got stuck in a blizzard and was trapped there for hours. The worse part was the heat in the car stopped working and we were freezing ( thank goodness my 1 yr old had to always bring a blanket with him, at least I was able to keep him warm).
I have only been on a train once so far, but really enjoyed it even sitting in a cheap seat! A long adventure like this is on my bucket list!
Looking at US trains make me depressed and sad as an American our star is falling and it can be seen in our infrastructure and service industry.

That's what happens when the rich take such a large cut. The remaining money is not enough to get the job done well.
