I caught his 8th homerun against Julio in center field. In a sea of gloves didn’t even realize I had it till I opened my mit to look in it. Once in a lifetime experience for my son and I he’s only 10 and was so stoked all the people around were super happy for us. Almost didn’t go, bought our tix last minute.

Truly shows how you don’t understand physics Do you know what happens when you throw a baseball a hundred miles an hour at a brick wall? It bounces off but it doesn’t go flying hundreds of feet…….. nearly all of the force from hitting the ball, comes from the hitter’s swing The ball coming at you faster just makes it harder to hit the ball optimally

@@DRWRITER08 I want to see home runs. Daddy Vladdy only won in the final by 3 to 2 making the format a 'pitching'/swinging contest instead of a home run contest. The old format was too much dependent on the pitching rather than the hitting. I stopped watching for quite awhile; it became boring and frustrating at the same time. Plus i felt it sometimes humiliated some of the contestants when they could only hit 1 or 2 home runs while getting eliminated.

I would have loved to watch the derby but guys were swinging too fast at balls and you could only see 1 out of every 3 or 4 balls actually launch and land. ESPN has the WORST broadcast experience now. Announcers talk WAY too much. And what happened to having to wait for the ball to land in order to throw the next pitch? Arozarena swinging rapid fire was too confusing to know what the score was for him and even the announcers missed what his actual score was because even they too were behind on the feed. SLOW IT DOWN! This felt like a race to finish the derby as fast as possible.

waiting for the ball to land completely changes the derby. it feels like a race because that's exactly what it is. it's timed and you need to hit out as many as possible. that's the event.

@@mkeptrangli But that gave the advantage to the 'just over the wall' hitters vs the monster moonball hitters (the ones you want to see). The former would get many more pitches to hit. It got frustrating waiting for the ball to land so the batter could get another pitch, especially if it was a monster foul ball that wouldn't count. Not fair, especially when time was running out.

There is an inherent advantage going second. You can stop when you reach past our opponent. This means that when he had to beat 20 he only had to hit 21. The last round was rough for Vlady. But congrats to the whole competition.

They didn't figure it out, lmao. They were trying with every swing in the early rounds. You're not safe at any number of honeruns. The only advantage is going second.

Every round Alonzo went second and didn't need his bonus while Vladdy went first in every round requiring him to hit as many as he could including in his bonus rounds, plus having the tie-breakers against Joc Pederson. Vladdy had to take 54 more home run swings than Alonzo by the time they met in the final... and once again, Vladdy had to go first resulting in a rested Alonzo knowing how many he needed. Once he got in a rhythm, it was over... They need to change the final from seeding so that a batter doesn't have to go back-to-back and the other batter go cold waiting 57 minutes between pitches.
