"indicated 65kts before it blew away" ha ha ha classic!
The fireworks video was excellent. I've watched years of professionally shot July 4th celebrations that can't compare to what you did - clear crisp focus and good color representation! Very nice!
Kika always looks pretty but that last white outfit that she was wearing amongst the fireworks helped to show just how stunning she is. She looks so fit, I wonder if she was once involved with gymnastics. Both Kika and Dan are a fine looking couple but more importantly these videos show how good they are on the inside and how intelligent and inventive they are along with gobs of self motivation. Yeah, I find them to be an exceptional couple.....
Looking forward to seeing you cooking with the Go Sun solar oven and hearing your opinion of it
Great video! Saw a few egg timer time lapses in there.
Very good anchor test! We haven't had anything like that yet. Take care.
Love the intro. You guys are doing great. Thanks for your vlog. Love them.
Great episode, thanks for the adventure!!
So happy to see you have a radio, never saw it before now and have been wondering. Love you two.
I LOVED the smiles on your faces after that storm!
We know from the films that we make that the wind never seems as strong on film as it does when your in it... well we can confirm that did indeed look REALLY windy. Thanks for sharing guys.
I was literally getting sea sick watching the boat rock while in Miami's rough sea anchorage.
That was a very impressive squall!
Very fun watching Dory off the stern in the storm.
Now that's one heck of a storm. Lucky the 5:1 didn't let loose. Glad you're safe. Great video.
Awesome video 👍
Love it! A Canadian and a Haitian enjoying an American tradition while American youth play video games and complain about everything. You guys rock! Your videos are awesome and I love following your adventures - keep it up!
Got to love Miami Weather!
Glad you guys made it through that storm safely.

Good test of the hurricane anchor?
@SailingUma
8 жыл бұрын
Nope. That was just with our 55# Rocna. We hadn't set up our hurricane anchor yet. Would't have had time to deploy it anyway. That was SUPPOSED to be just a normal thunderstorm. But 60kt winds are what our Rocna is rated for. It didn't drag and inch at 5:1. We're impressed. The Mantus is for when $h!t really hits the fan.
awesome vid guys,wow pretty intense storm ,wow 5 to 1 and held pretty dang good,thought that poor little dink was gonna fold up,lol,fair winds an following seas,,,pal
Brickell Ave. Where the insanely stupid money is. Another great video, guys!
You are cool! Thanks for inspiring us. Maybe you will once visit the baltic sea - let us know ;-)
Watching the dinghy bounce really makes me think having a set of davits is a good idea. Really lucky you didn't lose your dinghy or your motor.
@SailingUma

No, our boat doesn't have the space for davits and we don't like the cluttered look they bring. Dory did just fine, she's seen worse.
Great Vid M8S. Still think you could make a Rebel Cat for a Tender.I was cringeing seeing that Folbot in that Sea.
Capt Ron would say ....... If it's going to happen it will happen out there. .

Agreed!
Imagine if that had hit while underway. I have to join the chorus of people that say....PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE install life lines!!
@CoastLife

Agree...Do you guys have jack lines or anything? We also worry about your safety underway...
@SailingUma

+Coast Life yes we do have jacklines.
that was some really "nice" winds :D
Jack! I'm Flying!! lol
Way to use that egg-timer. What camera did you use for the fireworks? Great color saturation.
Glad you didn't have to do any boat work! that's always a nice! I'm really liking your portabote more and more. do you guys still like it?

+Coast Life Dory is great! of course we always see improvements to be made lol but overall we are satisfied.
Awesome photo stops! This episode brought to us especially by Rocna?
@CoastLife

Rocna certainly held strong, didn't it.
Forecast actually said the front is moving at 30 knots.
Wow. That squall looked gnarly! How long did it last? Rode one like that at anchor the Bahamas blasted 55 at peak gusts and it lasted 50 minutes. Kinda scary. Makes you really love your ground tackle huh?
@SailingUma
8 жыл бұрын
Didn't last long, maybe 30 min. It was nice knowing we had rock solid ground tackle....which we just made better by all chain rode and bridle.
Wow, that was storm. Did you have any problem with your anchor to keep your boat safe?
@SailingUma
8 жыл бұрын
Nope! Didn't drag and inch...
Dan, it's obvious from watching your videos that you are as expert as can be when it comes to boat repairs, I talent that you can always employee to make money do odd job to get you from Island to Island. I was wondering if you plan on laying up for the hurricaine season and if you would consider helping me with my boat as a way of funding your UMA project? I'm sure there are lots of people out there that would want the same.....but I asked first!!! LOL! Let me know your thoughts. It's hard finding people who want to work up here in New England aside from Boat Yards which I can't afford. My project isn't as extensive as yours and I have made some progress but it's been a year already. Oh...how satisfied are you with your copper bottom paint job now that you've been sailing a while? I was thinking about doing the same thing. Good sailing and God Bless you both! Bill

Thanks for the offer. It's nice you know your needed. But we'll actually be sailing for the hurricane season, so I'll have to pass. Cheers! Dan.
Where can we find the bathing suits, is there a webshop?
Just wondering which anchor you had down during that 65+ knot storm, the Rocna or the Mantus?
@SailingUma

+Sailing Infidels we had the rocna out.

Nice, thanks! We have a Rocna as well. A 73Lb but have not had a test like that yet. That was quite a blow!
Who's that old uncle at the end of the video?!
What is the song at 6:43?
Thats really nice bikini wear by the way! Nice fabric
👍🏻⛵🎉🎉🎉⛵
your on a sailboat with out a wind gauge?!
@SailingUma
8 жыл бұрын
Yup! Our boat is our wind gauge, she tells us what she likes and we sail accordingly.
@markleyg

I've never had a windgauge on my boat. I got the hairs on my neck.
Does this mean that if I get the biggest, baddest anchor I am not as likely to drag? I don't have a boat yet, but I will :) One day!
@SailingUma

Make sure its a SPADE anchor (like the mantus or rocna)
Storms and waves generally don't look that bad on camera. OMG you could see that was really bad on video. That looked scary
@SailingUma
8 жыл бұрын
We sat it out comfortably knowing or anchor was rock solid.
Why do you leave your outboard on the dinghy?
@SailingUma
8 жыл бұрын
Storm came to fast to take it off. It was only supposed to be 30kts like all the other storms that hit us that week. But this one hit much harder and very fast. We didn't even have time to let out more scope.
so...still thinking of riding out hurricanes with 60 ft waves and 200 knot winds ? lol.
@SailingUma
8 жыл бұрын
Yup!, But not out at sea. Not yet any way. Waves and wind are MUCH less than that in a good hole.
ugh! what was that object you were grilling>?!?!

Nope, the boat tells us what she likes and we sail accordingly.
