The signature is from famous Dakar rider Gaston Rahier who won Paris Dakar in 1984 and 1985 on the R80 GS. There are only 200 of those signed tanks. He also took part in 1986 but he had a crash mid race and broke 6 ribs and a collarbone. He still finished the race but as you know, honda won this year for the first time. R.I.P. Total baller move. Watching this channel for a hour of peace, total freedom machines, stuck in my cubical for 50+ hours a week. I purchased a adventure bike. Listened and practiced every skill and maintenance on this channel. Completed the US Government permit course with little issues. Now I adventure ride, seek the new landscapes through my eyes, discomfort, heat, cold, water, dirt, mud and a flat tire. No factor. I know how todo most by this channel of instruction and inspiration. “I still have work todo, I still haven’t seen these places, I have a calling now.” It made me a better Husband to my wife, father to my kids. Never argue home. More projects COMPLETED finally at the house. Date night with the wife once a week. Better sex. We all work better as a team that enjoys a good story and pictures. Anyone new to this channel, go back on every video, learn and achieve. It’s not just the proper advice, adventure bike riding, it’s confidence and perspective you gain. The pleasure of resolving issue or a locked gate seen in this video. Having the opportunity to figure it out. You’ll become a better man to your spouse, children, family, friend on your adventure and community. Best shape of your life both body and soul riding a freedom machine. Become your own Super Hero. This man just gave you a GPS to find it. It’s your time now.

The ego and horsepower portion of the video where buddy nearly clips you and ends up off the side of the road was a very important portion of the overall video. It's helpful for us newer riders, and for some complacent seasoned riders, to be reminded of the repercussions of allowing high levels of both ego and horsepower to mix. It's also easy to see people such as yourself Adam on KZread and think "that looks easy" then stupidly try to emulate such riding. It's a recipe for a sort ride into an early grave. Thanks for the excellent and important content.

All these videos, all the time I had this weird feeling where the appreciation for the Africa Twin was just a bit too much. And then, in this video, around 25:30 where you ask the Rd07 owner how he got his bike to Australia it suddenly made sense! You never had these in Australia? So you were just seeing and reading about the hype, never able to live it. That's heavy stuff man! The Africa Twin is so iconic (albeit very common here) that it's just at the root of all ADV bikes. It's just there, and will always be!

I watch guys solo riding in there videos and as soon as a group ride starts 1 or 2 people ruin everything because they ride over there skill level and crash and push the group to ride over there skill level trying to keep up!! At 14:34 you papas the ass and he passes you back 15:38 no room ever on the trail for that kind of riding EVER !!! I would rather ride alone. Ride my ride and stop when I want. Go as fast as I want. You're living the life we all dream of. Thank you for bringing us along for the ride. I wish I had your skills. My off road skills are long gone. I haven't genuinely ridden off road since I was a young loon in the 80's lol. Keep up the content fella. Your shits a breath of fresh air compared to most of the over done shit we see nowadays.

Brilliant video Adam. So down to earth and not pretending to be anything but yourself.

Love the warhorse, bought a 1994 (rd07) in Dubai (Japanese delivery), it'll go home to Australia when I'm done here. They are something else, petrol, battery, go!!!!

Great trip & story. Intriguing how Ausies adopt Yank use of "rowt" when they even have a travel song "Root 66" 😊

You're really happy with your warhorse. All you say in praise of the Africa Twin 750 is also true for my old Transalp 600 PD06. It's old, it's good, it's comfy, it allows you to explore and it's reliable. It's mild and old-school. Quite a different feeling from modern bikes. Thanks for your channel, you convey that special ADV feeling very well. Happy rides, Günter/Nürnberg, Germany (I do understand your rant about someone riding outside his skills)

My dude! What another chapter and story. Multiple war horses even! What a time, those smiles say it all. Hopefully you have a project out here in the states down the road...I will make sure to ride a leg at a minimum to say hello. Heck, I'mma have to come down to your neck of the woods one day as well, something special down there and I want to experience it myself. Ride on friend, ride on.

I have been inspired partly by your story with this old Africa Twin but also other people. I was unable to find an RD04 Africa Twin in at a price I could justify, I have however found a Cagiva Elefant 900 and I'm getting it up and running from a very poor condition. Going to start learning offroad riding over winter and take it out for a long trip next summer. Nothing can really measure up to the soul of thees old bikes, I'll give the new bikes that they can go really far between needing service and attention, hover they are completely helpless when they do need service. So what if I have to give everything a once over every night, I'll make it much farther befor I'm unable to help myself.
