The rest of the world has so much to learn from Japan. I'm European and have distinct memories of the foods we were served in school growing up and it doesn't even come close to this. It was more common than not to discover bugs, dirt, rocks, even glass in our food. Even the preparation was lacking. I remember being served food such as hamburger steaks that were burnt on one side, raw and frozen on the other side and just right in the middle (they'd just line them up on a tray and cook them in an oven without flipping them even once to make sure they were evenly cooked). I now live in Japan and am pregnant with my first child. It makes me glad to see that this is the kind of effort and care that is being put into the food that my daughter will one day be eating in school. Thank you so much for your hard work.🙏

You left the part out where prisoners are fed higher quality food than children in public schools. My favorite part was the kitchen staff being entirely illegal aliens that did not speak English.

I grew up in Japan and this lunch here is rather simple. I guess my public school was funded well, but we usually had two more small dishes on top of these, with a calendar that lists the dishes that were planned to be served every single day of the month, with nutritional facts and educational facts about eating healthy. Kids look forward to lunch each day so they look at the calendar a lot, which helped normalize the concept of healthy eating habits. I moved to North America as an adult and learned how amazing that was.

American school lunches are health concerns. Some of the food on the menu is questionable. Then, kids cross the road for burger joints and soda bars. It's no mystery to why diabetes and other health problems plague our population 🤔 I can understand once in a blue moon, but weekly for some, daily for the majority? Yikes.

The amount of onion they put in that beef dish was nuts. I remember getting a Japanese curry roux, and the recipe said to use like 2 or 3 big onions, i cut it down to 1/2 of an onion and is just right. The Japanese obviously like their onions. Everything looked great thou, a million times better than the shite they served up in my English school back in the 1970's.

I love how much respect these people have for the children and in a way their job. I love how clean the food is and how it's prepared. Here in India 🇮🇳, I see street vendors and get nauseous just by looking at how it's prepared and servered. Watching lots of Japanese street food made me realise poverty is not an excuse for poor hygiene. Hats off to you guys.

That looks soooo yummy. I´m glad that I was in a german school were nuns prepared the lunch and we got at most days: Soup, Main Dish and a Dessert - only on Fridays we got some sweet main course so there was no Dessert. It was sooo delicious and I feel so bad for other students - it was really a cultureshock when I graduated and needed to eat in a common Mensa afterwards. It broke a bit my heart when i was surfing the internet and saw that my old school had no longer a "Klosterküche" (monastery kitchen) as I remembered all my favorite dishes during the years. Good food is so important for growing up healthy and motivation. Thank you for your important job
