I have a purple 1968 Dart GTS convertible with a bored, stroked, blown 700 hp 360 with a Ford nine inch UNDER the leaf springs and raised front.

I have a 50 myself, cant decide on a gasser build or not. Im just not sure it would look right. Not very many out there.

Shawn Strow I’m building my car from a couple of really rough 51s..not good enough to restore but enough to build a race car. Good thing I don’t mind fabrication work and rust repair!! I had a 327 , manual glide , hi stall etc and a beam axle so that was enough to give me direction on the build.. not sure where you are but not a real lot of gassers in Australia where I am although the scene is growing. 👍🏻

@@jimmyj2563 mine is very rough as well, im torn between over the top gasser or bagged rat rod/racecar. I would love to see pictures of yours, especially from australia, thats so cool. I bet parts are hard to find.

Shawn Strow I had started the initial build by cutting floor ( not much was salvageable) out and sitting body low over a Modified Toyota crown chassis..twas going to fit a 1 uz Toyota v8 and drivetrain. We have strict regulations on modified cars here and I decided it would have been nearly impossible to achieve legal registration. So I have decided to go gasser instead with the chev drivetrain and straight axle setup. The original chassis was badly bent at front so it will get cut off and box tube to mount the front springs. Yes it is hard to find parts here especially repairable body panels .

What is the purpose of the small tank in front on some of the cars? Alternative fuel tank or what?

Fuel tank. Just enough fuel for a 1/4 mile run. Placed up front to keep the lines short and use acceleration to help supply the fuel often to a mechanical fuel injection setup.
