Dieselgate VWs aren't just 2009-10 as the video states, but 2009-15. Also, I think the Takata Airbag recall, and GM ignition switch were both more harmful to customers than exhaust emissions.

My Dads 2005 Renault Megane hatchback was recalled due to window and sunroof failures leading to them constantly going up and down staying up or down for days

My family had a 2007 Honda Pilot with black exterior and brown interior, we had to have a recall done because of the Takata airbags having metal pieces Incased within the airbags.

"Why is GM still in business?" Because its business model is to buy and shutdown the competition (something that Microsoft learned from) or use political lobbying to shut them out. It was GM who used a couple of front companies to buy up and destroy the USA's public transit companies before WW2 so that it could sell more cars. It collected a couple of anti-trust convictions for this, but the fines were tiny and a conviction doesn't bring back a destroyed public transit system.

For the people that are interested in recalls. Or for a part 2 for the channel. Here are some more recalls: 1.) If you drive around in a BMW 3 Series E46, you can expect a letter on the door mat soon. The Germans call 1.6 million cars back to the dealer to replace the passenger airbag. 2.) GM recalled around 64,000 Chevrolet Volts because there is a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning when the car is not locked properly. Whether the Dutch Volt's problem and the related Opel Ampera are affected is not yet known. 3.) The Japanese called back 1,368,500 older cars in America alone. Various models may cause short-circuiting at the ignition switch, resulting in a possible fire hazard. These are the following types: 1990-1995 323 1993-1998 626 1993-1995 929 1989-1998 MPV 1993-1997 MX-6 1992-1993 MX-3 1990-1998 Protégé The grease around the contact points can be charred and thus becomes conductive. 4.) After Ferrari announced a to recover the 185 California T's, a 488 GTB has now issued a stop sale order in America. Problems with leakage of gasoline can cause the car to fire. you're welcome 😆🖒

I bought a 2006 Pontiac g6 GT coupe brand new off the showroom floor and absolutely fell in love at first sight. A major recall came out for multiple GM cars, Pontiac g6, Chevy Malibu and a few more. The first was that the power steering assist would go out at random times, I still have the car and it has happened to me on many occasions. Millions of cars from 05 to 09 I believe it was were recalled for the faulty power steering... there were like 5 more.. cruise control won’t disengage, break light wires would burn out easily and I forgot the other ones

That big GM ignition recall, Takata Airbags, Bugatti Veyron fire.

It wasn’t just one death that came from the Toyota gas pedal recall, it was a family who died. The man was a CHP Officer in San Diego and had relatives in the car. They released the 911 call and it was soooo sad. I used to live there and the story was huge at the time.

Moin Bhatti my dad’s 04 avalanche has yet to have to have that problem after 250,000 miles It’s only had 2 problems The automatic window motors have failed twice And the tailgate failed but that was after a family friend yanked the shit out of it My moms 07 vue has Had few troubles She had to get the ignition replaced The starter recently failed at around 150,000 and she messed up the radio by jumping her battery wrong You must be unlucky my friend

My 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan had the ignition switch replaced last year under a recall. I had a 2000 Town and Country recalled for the steering wheel clock spring due to the fact that the air bag may not deploy because the electrical signal would not get to the air bag in the event of a collision

Zecrid best part was that they knew about the problem and chose not to fix it. When if finally came time to fix it, people had to wait months because no dealers had parts. My girlfriends cobalt had the recall done and almost got in a horrible accident afterwards. She was driving home on the highway in a snowstorm at night and the ignition cut out and lost steering. The car spun off the road. Again, AFTER the recall

The easiest workaround for the GM ignition key problem was not to dangle the rest of your keys off the ignition one (ie, keep that key separated from your other ones). Pain in the ass, but it's the safest way to go. It was the moment forces of the bunch of keys hanging from the ignition key and jiggling it in the switch (especially whilst cornering) that activated the fault.

The German Diesel is still ten times cleaner than others

Not a tyre fault. Ford's recommended tyre pressures were grossly underinflated vs manufacturer design pressures, in order to achieve a smoother ride for passengers. As such the tyres were operating outside design parameters, resulting in excess sidewall flexing, massive overheating and the rest is history. Ford's attempts to blame the tyres were thoroughly debunked during the investigations.

My dad had a 95 F-150 that was part of the cruise control switch recall, unfortunately he didn’t get a letter until after he sold the truck, our current 2004 pathfinder is part of the takata airbag recall and we already had the part replaced

The Takata shrapnel exploding airbags was pretty big. That one effected GM Toyota Honda Volkswagen and many others in the recent model years

I used to have a bmw 325i 2003 model and it was recalled because metal fragments flew out of the airbags every time they deployed.

We all knew that Toyota drivers had a bad reputation but we never know that Toyota builders also had one!

My dad's Honda CR-V from around 2002 has been recalled for malfunctioning driver's airbags, the red airbag light is still on to this day, not for long cause the car is literally living on life support cause if you rev the engine past 3.5k it might brake, the car's frame is completely Rusty and it got some kind of differential problem. He managed to hit 300000 kilometers on it

My mom had a recall on her 2017 Camaro RS where the steering would give out... I never wanted to be in that car again, but now she got a 2015 Malibu so I feel better. It was hard to give up that car cuz it's my 2nd favorite car😭

My 1989 Toyota Camry has been recalled for a potentially faulty automatic seatbelt mechanism because those systems had a tendency to freeze and be stuck in the open or closed position which means that if it failed while I was driving the slash belt that moves wouldn't move forward and release me from my car

Honda CRV has had numerous recalls, its actually the only car I know of which has had so many recalls

Yeah! my father had a Honda stream and it was recalled because stock was finished!

The GM ignition switch recall was a huge one as well.

I still contend that Volkswagon didn't "cheat". They designed the car to pass the test, and give the consumer the best performance/fuel economy possible. If anything, the fault goes to the govt bodies that designed a poor testing method which only tested a specific condition. Volkswagon designed their diesel to pass THAT condition in the test. Of course, the Govt's all blamed VW and slandered them to no end, to save face that they were beat at their own game. Of course all the leftists and environmentalists jumped on board as cheerleaders.

Why is it so many people think completing a test through completely allowed means is wrong when it does something they don't like? if they wanted it to be a comprehensive way of controlling emissions to save the environment, they would've made a decent test.

madPaulX Volkswagen’s are not designed to fail. ALL cars are getting harder to fix with the advanced electronics incorporated into ALL newer cars. That being said you sir are a complete moron. Stop and do your research and learn that VW is not the only company to bypass the US EPAs stupidly designed emissions standards for the US market. Mater of fact we have some of the dumbest automotive regulations compared to the rest of the world. They did not cheat they just simply found a solution to the problem that is the over reaching of the EPA in regards to Diesel engines which by the way have a smaller carbon footprint than a traditional gas engine.

lmao this entire thread is pathetic. Stringing on and on about how German cars are getting harder to fix and that they're designed to fail. *All* cars from Japanese to German, to British, to French and American are getting more and more difficult to fix because of all the electronics and bullshit sensors that are being stuffed into them like it's a fucking turkey. As for the emissions test, I dunno about US regulations (though based on what I've heard, they're pretty daft), but here in the UK, the emissions barely affected shit. Quit being biased and fix up.

I've got a 2011 skoda octavia scout 2 liter diesel with the "dirty" software and I had to bring it in to the dealer to fix it but all they did was restrict the power output a bit

the seatbelt thing happened in my Grandpa's 1995 Hilux Surf. Btw u forgot about the 2012-2013 Ford Focus gearbox recall in Australia this year

prius with sticking gas pedals?? just open the window the drag will stop the car (or take it ouf of gear maybe?? also the brakes are usually stonger than the acceleration)

I had a vauxhall corsa b that was recalled because the seat belt bolts could shear off in an accident.

My 09 Toyota Yaris has had 2 recalls since I got it last year one was electric motor in the windows catching fire and most recent one is air bags

Good to know according to lists like these that, as a child, I was being driven around in literally broken cars because my dad never got any of the recalls done.

Notice how GM isn't the company most listed. Ford has the biggest in entire automotive history.

Because it is not cost effective to make American cars that are made for Americans for foreign markets.

Because of the Chicken Tax. There's a 25% import tax on all foreign made light trucks and vans brought into the USA, (vs 2% on cars) which means that Detroit makes a LOT of profit from all the pickups and vans it sells (captive market). This was compounded by such vehicles being mostly exempted from much more stringent emissions and safety regulations until relatively recently, making the vehicles even _more_ profitable to build and sell. This in turn means it hardly pays attention to the (unprofitable by comparison) car market and the halo cars don't sell enough to make it worthwhile exporting. This is also why America "prefers" pickups, vans and light trucks - the carmakers pushed them into preferring the things as that's where the profits are.

I’ve been driving a 1999 - 2000 model of the Chevrolet Silverado truck and I had the same problem with that truck until I figured out what the engine was up to.

I was telling my sister about how I want to make a Morris minor hot rod and she said "but there so rare and you'll ruin it! Can't you do it to a car like that?" And pointed at a gen 2 Nissan micra. Needless to say I died a little when I heard that
