You are awesome Jocelin! You are such an inspiration to us short women (I'm 5''1'). I always dreamed of riding a motorcycle since my uncle use to sneak me out for a ride on his sport bike...that is until my mom found out and threatened to murder him. Here I thought... now that I'm an adult and my parents can stop me from having a motorcycle, if I manage to pass the motorcycle safety course, I had no choice but to buy a cruiser. You have expanded my world, thank you for doing what you do! I guess that where there is a will, there is always a way. Bless you and stay safe during these trying times! Have a wonderful New Years!

Your videos are of value. Not to just a select group within adventure riders but to all riders... It is also very important that you demo your own moves on the bike. Sure, others can do it. But it is your mannerism/positioning/explaination that demonstrates/confirms to all the most efficient and effective stance/movement possible in order to perform the task. What you do relies less on brute muscle, height etc. Instead its about applying pure technique. It is that type of kung-fu that we seek. That's how she does it...then that is how I might do it as well.

Good Jocelin. I've been watching your videos from Spain for a while. there are some with subtitles, but I see that they are not all. My wife and I are passionate about motorcycles and your videos serve to motivate her since she measures the same as you, and thus be able to wear a GS. We would like to know if it would be possible for you to put subtitles to all your videos because I think that many Spanish-speaking people follow you but they are not able to understand all your advice (not all of us know English😅). Thank you very much for your videos and keep it up !!!

Takes some practice to know what speed you need for a 90 degree rear brake turn and also what revs you need to spin the tire to finish the final 90 degrees. It’s so different depending on the bike, tire, and then obviously the terrain, but especially the first two.

@@JocelinSnow Thanks for say'in.... I found you through "Doodle". Glad I did! Yeah, I've been riding on and off since I was 8-9 yrs old. Mini bikes etc. I've been wanting to take an advanced rider's course for years. Aim to learn more about low speed maneuvers. I'm 5'5" no problems with that at all....however, as "we" both experience, taller bikes are a different challenge. I just learned some great tech's from your video thank you very much!! I took delivery of a 2022 Kymco AK550 one week ago. and seat height is just over 31 inches tall :( (knew that goin in). I also have a 2007 Yamaha Majestry YP400 & a 2014 Honda CTX700 DCT - 2 very different bikes! Two different seat heights! Honda super low at 25 inches, and the Yamaha Majesty at 30-ish! The Kymco is every bit of 31+ inhes and so I'm on my toes(toe, only one at a time lol). So watching you tech's as I've been developing the same-ish moves on the AK550. Probably easier on this bike (AK550) as it has now manual clutch....but maybe not because it doesn't have a manual clutch. Either way, your "leg over" tech has given me something to try. And I've been trying the "one foot only at a stop" and it is BETTER than tryin 2 tipp-toes!!! Gimme me tech's! Thanks for the vid's and thanks for respoding! Enjoy your evening Ms. Snow! Thx!

I kept trying to do an elephant turn by planting a foot and leaning the bike over but I'm not a big enough rider to hold the bike up at enough of an angle that it doesn't fall over when I gas it. Clearly, from your videos, I need to keep the feet on the pegs. Thanks! A funny aside, the easiest bike to ride, the TW200, is almost impossible to do this with because it has so much rear wheel traction I can't easily skid it and it doesn't have enough power to power it around! It just shoots off into the trees instead. Easy to neanderthal turn though.

Hi Jocelin, as a fairly new rider (3 years now) and only 5 ft 3 your series has been a revelation to me! No more whinging about how all bikes are too tall, I need to get on and improve my riding so have booked an advanced course for later in the summer. Question for you - where do you get trousers to fit you?? I have a Klim jacket and so far have never found trousers to fit that I don't have to take up...but I won't start in with a sewing machine on an expensive pair of gortex trews and it would be great if the knee protection was vaguely in the right place to start with. Your trousers seem to fit a treat! Thanks for your help and motivation, kind regards Jackie from the UK.

On the 'kickstand pivot turn' is it possible to turn the bike in the counter direction ie with the back of the bike moving towards you? That's the way that I've managed it and I can't seem to get it to go in the same direction as you demonstrated. Maybe I'm doing it wrong...

Another absolutely fantastic episode Jocelin - so grateful you started the "Be The Boss of the Bike!" series. At 1.80m I'm a full-time Spider Turner haha I have a feeling I'll be coming back to this episode many times to start practicing. Fiona and I will be back riding the Tiger 900 Rally Pro across the UK this march. I look forward to practicing :-) Quick question: can any bike handle the Kickstand Pivot? Without any upgrades?

Aww thank you! I am so happy to hear you enjoyed the video. Don't worry, you are not alone in the spider turn, haha I've done my share! I'm excited to hear about your UK adventure with Fiona! ..as for the kickstand pivot, NO, geez, no, not every bike can handle this. I have yet to hear of an issue with a BMW GS 1200 or 1250, however other makes and models may have an issue and may break a stand. Thanks again for watching, I truly appreciate your support!

I hear you about the weather. Maybe we need to come up with a snow bank turn for those of us where the e stuff rules this time of year! Or maybe learn to use ice on the trail as a good way to initiate a power slide. :) I think it just makes us appreciate when the weather is good. Thanks again Jocelyn for sharing your amazing abilities and even better attitude.

Hi Jocelin, I just started watching your videos---thanks to my husband who's a BMW 1250GS / K1300S rider (he uses one bike one weekend, and the other the next weekend). He would love for me to ride with him on my own rather than be a pillion all the time----but then again I do WANT to ride on my own. I've been watching your videos now on REPEAT 3 times! I've also just started to learn how ride a bicycle (just so I can perfect my sense of balance FIRST!). I'm 57 years young, 5'1" tall, and weighs 57kgs. I've got some questions: a.) Since you are a BMW Certified Off Road instructor, do you get invited to give out lessons in various parts of the world? Have you ever been invited to come to Dubai?; b.) If I were to, alternatively, go to your course in Salinas, how long do I need to book? Or will it depend on an assessment you have to do first as regards my riding skills?; c.) Do you do weight training?----am asking because you are freaking strong, and as a rider, apart from strong quad muscles, I notice you must have strong forearms / biceps / triceps --- so what do you do in terms of weight training?; d.) Do you recommend practicing on a dirt tract rather than on paved roads? e.) and this might seem like a stupid question, but what "damage" do I expect to do on a bike before I can learn? I don't want to ruin such fantastic bikes while I'm learning. Here in Dubai, we do not really have anyone like you to offer riders like me a comprehensive learning experience before confidently riding on a bike....

Hello Bernie! Thank you for your message! Wow! Your story is great, and exactly why I made these videos. I’m so happy that you are enjoying them. You have motivated me to make more! You want to ride your own bike, so LET’S MAKE IT HAPPEN! I know you can do this! I’ve always said either we just have our dreams or we live them. Live it! If you wanted to come to my training facility in Salinas, I would love to work with you. We would want about a week for training and a week to go tour California. I would also go to Dubai, if needed. ..you are the same height as I am, and we are both in our 50’s. If I can do it then you certainly can! Feel free to email me to discuss further. It will be easier to address all your questions and concerns through email rather than KZread. Jocelinx@gmail.com

I would suspect the stand could give and break on the Kickstand Turn. Just saying per an engineering standpoint. Most weights are on the tires and not on that kickstand, once you pivot on the stand, that’s 100% weight on that kickstand. Great videos as always. Thanks

Javan Dell I see your point, and some makes and models this may be the case, but not so with the BMW GS models. My riding buddies and I have been doing it for years, and have never had an issue.

My favourite is "Wait for me turn". I know about kickstand turn, but I m afraid to use it on my Honda. I´m not sure if kickstand can make it. It is much easier and safer to do it, if you have central stand.
