    Just an fyi, top speed is determined by drag to HP. Weight actually doesn't directly influence Vmax; just acceleration. From zero it's all power to weight (traction/wheelies not withstanding) gradually transitioning into the power to drag equilibrium that sets top speed provided you aren't limited via gearing.

  • @DakuJTenshi

    Funny enough I actually started losing weight when I started riding a motorcycle maybe it's because how much effort you have to put into riding, or the fact that you sweat like a madman on longer rides. Or maybe cause drivethrus are a pain in the ass on a motorcycle. But I've actually been losing weight. Which means I'm gaining power to weight ratios 😈

    my 94 CB250 cost me about $100. Another $300 to get er road worthy once more. After 3-4K miles, I opted tor an 80$ sprocket kit which easily netted me an extra 15-20mph top speed. Moved onto iridium plugs & perf CDI unit, about $100, and K&N filter $70. Helped me maintain the extra top speed I gained bigtime! Being still under 1k spent on the bike, I went and ordered a big bore kit for her! 233cc to 275cc! In the midst of fitting the whole thing out as I speak. Pretty certain ill at least be able to give a new rebel 300 a run for its money when all said n done : D

    I love racing my CBR250R, I’ve stripped it down to the minimum. My next step is to turn it into a CBR300R… and adding a Power Commander. My competition is R3’s and Ninja 300’s. Several of these items weren’t legal in California… and I had to purchase it via friends out of state… the PC5 was especially hard to purchase, but the slip-on removed the built in catalytic converter as well.

    Simple way #1...sprockets and air fliter. #2....add a better exhaust to #1, but you should get your ECU remapped for correct AFR (air-fuel ratio) at this point. #3...do numbers 1 and 2 and do go on a diet (Noob's #6). Rider weight reduction directly improves your bike + rider performance outcomes. I've done sprockets (-1 front, +1 back) and installed a reusable stainless steel air fliter that was only $15 for my bike model. Considerable difference off the line but higher RPM's on the highway (about 10% of my riding).

    Different gearing can in fact mean more torque....it does not mean more power. Power = torque X RPM (with some additional conversion factors). When you change the gearing, you trade RPM for additional torque. Ultimately power never changes......because physics.

    Also take in account that opening holes in the airbox might cause your intake to pull in hotter air since it wasn't meant to intake though those holes, Hotter air means less oxygen, less oxygen makes the combustion less efficient As I continue to watch the video, going on a diet could really help my bike! I am just looking to make my honda CBR 125 R to hit 100kph a little bit better. Going up a hill makes me go 80 or 90. Hitting a 100 on a highway is not that hard but keeping it up kinda is. Also hitting a 110 has happened to me only once. Normally google and the spedometer tells you its 120kph (max speed) but they're off by 10. Idk when it starts to lie about the speed but i usually go 10 above the speed limit.

    Best option is take a rider course as it should cover that and much more if it's reputable at all. Otherwise, you can think of it like a U turn if it's tight only you'll have to work the friction zone and throttle a bit more to get going while you counter balance for the turn. If it's a wider turn but requires the wheel to be turned immediately, you can do the same. Just avoid fully turning the bars (full lock) of possible and allow a bit more throttle to get you going. Otherwise you can counter balance until you have momentum/speed to start counter-steering. Practice counter-steering, counter-balancing, being precise with small clutch and throttle applications, and using a healthy dose of dragging the rear brake to become a slow-speed pro.

    Weight doesnt affect top speed, it affects how fast you get there, top speed is affected by aerodinamic drag and power

  • @bleh8310

    @bleh8310

    2 жыл бұрын

    Drag (naked versus faired, or upright versus tucked) does make a more noticeable difference, but you said yourself power affects top speed. 100hp will move 500lbs faster than it will move 600lbs assuming the same drag due to increased friction from the downward force. Yes real world this is insignificant, but weight does still affect top speed.

    If you want to do hooligan stuff or like the sporty/plastic look go with the MT. If you like the more classic/metal look go XSR. I can't speak to mods and third party support but they're 80% the same bike already. The XSR dash seems small to me personally, then again I ride an Fz09 lol

    Should I do any of these for my 125cc?

    For a 125 I wouldn't personally do more than a slip on exhaust and lower the rider weight and work on the rider skill. Messing with the sprockets wouldn't help since your top speed is already so slow. Also, your money would be better spent being saved for your next bike. Upgrading to quality tires compared to stock would be a big help as well.

    I find it hard to believe that a manufacturer would put an air filter on a motorcycle that's restrictive enough to reduce power. Since power output is a key selling/marketing point, they would be stupid to restrict it with an inefficient air filter. Buying a quality paper filter and changing it when it's needed is good enough for me. If you want to buy a $100 air filter and spend the money on cleaner and oil/reconditioner and then do the work to clean and oil it, go ahead.

    Most high flow air filters are washable/reusable for the life of the bike. I'm certain that over a few years, that $100 investment is less than buying paper filters and throwing them away, not to mention an increase in performance...YMV.
