I use my prybar more often than I expected. Working in my old pizza shop (the building is very old and things constantly need repaired/fixed), I use it for opening some shitty containers and other misc jobs. Sometimes I just use the tip of my Benchmade 945 (if I happen to be carrying it that day). But the prybar has a wire clip that easily slips in and out of pocket or my pocket organizer. I was a sceptic too, but I'll prob always carry a prybar from now on.

The inherent problem with a multifunctional tool, is that is does a lot of things, not great. You end up making a sacrifice when you attempt to do too many things. Sit down, and really think about what you use everyday. Then think about the tools that you may want to use. For example: of you are an office drone the majority of the time, that requires a specific carry. If you like to camp on the weekends, that requires a different carry. Don't be afraid to make up different EDC bags, depending on the task at hand.

I have the soul built marksmith, as a chef I use it several times a day. People who borrow it are afraid to use it because it looks and feels expensive. Had it for over a year now. Absolutely love it and recommend to anyone who uses a sharpie often.

20:00 pocket clip isbad indeed, but when you have a bulky thing, might as well put a small blade on it etc. Doesnt seem like it affects the size of the tool so nothing is lost, imo.

I wondering if EDC should contain a body camera. Now hear me out, we see a lot of alterations were people breakouts the camera on the phone. You can ditch most paper and pen as you can record notes, and probably a few things. It acts as a deterrent from other people causing trouble and a backup if needed to defend yourself in court. I find it funny that a lot of EDC kits seem to not be about EDC by that I see people say things like I have this as part of my EDC but hardly use it. If that's the case you should remove it.

I like the body cam idea. There are things I carry and almost never use but I don't think that's always bad as long as they aren't bothering you. If the situation comes along where You need something and it's REALLY nice to have you'll be lucky you have it. For example, I carry a little sunscreen, bug spray, a stamp, super glue, birthday candle etc. in a little tin in my 5th/watch pocket. Don't need those things often, but I never notice them and it's nice when you're on the lawnmower to not run into the house for sunscreen, head in from the woods because the bugs are worse than you thought, make a trip to the post-office, seal up a moderate cut, fix some plastic piece, or it's just fun to give someone a cupcake with a birthday candle when you didn't know it was their birthday. Don't use it every day (far from it), but it offers some flexibility and can save you some time or make your day a lot more comfortable and I don't even notice in my unused pocket every day. A body cam, 1st aid kit or firearm would be the same principle. You'd VERY RARELY need it but if you did, you'd be EXTRA happy you had it.

It might be somewhat out of place but there are furoshiki cloth and instruction books. But it's basically multiple ways to bundle or wrap small to medium sized objects that can keep them tightly packed or create a loop/handle for easier carrying without using cordage or fasteners.

Those Ombraz sunglasses have been a game changer for me. I’ve had them for over two years and I find them infinitely more accessible because I can just keep them around my neck, but unlike normal glasses with a strap attached to the arms they sit perfectly flat against my chest making them significantly less prone to damage. Also they fit pretty well inside helmets (motorcycle, ski, etc) making them a less bulky alternative to goggles without having to worry about them coming off my face with wind/movement or having the rigid arms pressing into my skull

Great for water sports and wonderful polarization for fishing in all conditions... also they are hard to lose, you don't tend to set them on the table at dinner bcz they are so lightweight around your neck. Not to the people with long hair... the adjustment beads might pull your hair a bit.

I could be mistaken, but I swear I've recently seen a version of that last prybar thingy that doesn't contain all the other gimmicky junk. It's was just a prybar with the wrench contraption and I think the bit holder was still present. But no bottle opener, scalpel, or sheath. Once again, I could be wrong but pretty sure I saw it on ebay and I remember thinking it looked interesting and could possibly be pretty nice if it works well.

As for the Infiniti Tool. I have never used one, however I use them continuously. I tie a paracord version. Note: I am a DJ and have buttlpads of cables. I also love camping and they have endless possibilities. How to tie... 1. Cout about 17" to 25" of paracord (or to desired length) 2. Tie ends (simple double overhand knot) 3. Trim and melt smooth. 4. Tie on a ranger knot very tightly (use Pliers). 5. Trim and melt smooth. To fasten, use a larkshead, and pull tight. Ranger knot will slide onto larkshead to prevent loosening. It holds so well, I tied my flashlight on it in prusik form. (Same as above but wrap it 3 times.) And my flashlight has never slipped out. But it's also simple and quick to release. I strap my hat onto my backpack. That way it's accessible, and not misshapen from being stuffed inside. Yet I don't have to wear it until I need it. Also longer ones wrap bedrolls, sleeping bags, I even use them as close pins while camping. FYI, they also can be tied as a soft shackle, a sleave for an age for example.

Ya the Pichi with just the prybar, wrench and bit driver would be plenty to make it a worthwhile tool. Too many added features that dont add anything to the tool. Simplicity is key! I'd 100% consider one if it was slimmed down and made more streamlined/simplified (maybe a way to carry along a few bits alongside in the sheath).

Sharpies and Zebras work great. Guess a fire piston is handy for burning messages, can also use glass breaker to improve ventilation. Sweatband in hat may make storage a problem if it soaks up a bunch of sweat. You’re right about the Outerly kit, too much for what it is. Love Chinese soup spoons that are metal. Very durable and inexpensive. Just add some metal chopsticks, took some when I deployed.

As to using a pry bar. For many, many years a carried a well made nail in my wallet . I would grind down the tip to a semi flat point . Used it for small prying ( nudging out an o ring or hose Bibb washer, etc. ) scraping , cutting open boxes. When it wore out, new nail. An idea borrowed from my father and grandfather . Used almost every day for something. Some of the old EDC ideas are still the best at a much lower cost.

if the fire piston has more length you can make an ember with materials other than char cloth. the tech was invented 10s of thousands of years ago in Asia and pacific islands. They used them with fuzzed up bark and grass instead of char cloth. and they were made with nested bamboo or river cane with gaskets made of animal parts or plant latex. no machined metals and silicone. They are more reliable than stick twirling, bow drills, fire saws, fire plows, solar methods and even matches in inclement weather. They are definitely worthy as a secondary or tertiary fire source.

Thank you so much! I took my prescription glasses with a broken arm and my slingshot with a broken elastic and combined them to form another piece of garbage! Not really, I made some ghetto arm-less glasses. Work great. I find metal chopsticks to be practically useless. Just carry a disposable bamboo chopstick set from your takeout. They're rough enough to actually pick up noodles without them slipping all over, and they're bamboo, so you can use them for emergency dowels or tinder or shims or fid (metal works for that) or forceps or even a weapon if you're careful.

The loss of sunglasses is not very realistic when they are able to wear like a necklace. Now for infinity loops, I tend to like using just usual rubber bracelets and a simple carabineer. Outlery is neat, but according to analysis, my Ucco mess kit is a $13 luxury item to eat with.... The Pichi is an over the top wrench....but I like multi purpose wrenches, so I can't say I wouldn't want one.

People get edc wrong when the items at hand aren’t what they expected. EDC is whatever YOU personally would use on a day to day basis in YOUR life. EDC isn’t code for universal.

It would be slick if someone made a Swiss army type thing with a knife, knife sharpener, fire starter, compass and some other useful tool like a can opener. Bottle opener is over rated in my opinion. I bought the edc wallet usb- c, cable and phone stand off one of your unusual edc item videos and I use the crap out of it.

Well, there is a multitool with sharpener, fire starter AND can opener; the leatherman signal. As for a compass; tiny ones are usually quite gimmicky and not trustworthy imo. Also the metal of the tools might influence the accuracy of it even more. So, have fun with your new signal, and just buy a separate quality compass.

Yo! Lol, glad you're enjoying the Triune bud. I've carried mine that you saw at Georgia Bushcraft since I got it during the Kickstarter years back. It's a little bulky, but since it does so many things, I keep it. I mean I still carry a firesteel and would choose that over this but it's a fun redundancy option. We didn't talk about this at the gathering, but I had a rollover years ago and I had a little tool to break glass in my center console that disappeared in the crash so I started carrying something in my pocket in case I needed out and was attached to me. When I found this guy it hit that, plus the pen and fire option. My only wish is that the damn pen lid likes to unscrew itself in my pocket on occasion. But other than that, this thing has been all over the world and started a fire anywhere I've tried.

Hats with pockets... yeah we were making those when we were kids. We used to cut the extra cloth inside the front panel, put coins or bubblegum inside the bill, and we used to store paper money inside the sweat belt... nothing special and unusual there, that we won't believe exist. Someone just monetized that idea.

Sweet! I think the infinity tool will be exactly what I've been wanting for my small camera bag. The outer straps it came with suck, but the infinity tool might work. I just bought a four pack (half 8" / half 16"), so fingers crossed. I'm hoping these will allow me to easily attach either a tripod or a water bottle to the bag. Thanks!

2:17 So, the pen/fire starter/glass breaker. Next time I wreck my car into tree a wooded area, I can: 1. Break the glass window and escape from my car; 2. Start fire so I can stay warm and 3. Write a note, attach it to the leg of a squirrel I've taken three weeks to train and have named "Sparkey", and then send "Sparkey" for help.

  • @markotb

    1. Why not just carry a Sharpie. $100 seems stupid money to make an EDC item even more bulky than it needs to be, with no tangible benefit. 2. That pen is cool but looks to be unreliable and I doubt the glass breaker adds anything to any EDC. Its like the glass breaker is the new bottle opener and pry bar. Im pretty sure any tool that has a glass breaker on it can break glass with another part of the tool. And every time I hear 'It takes Fisher Space pen refills' I think Why not just get a Fisher Space Pen? 3. The cap is cool, I dont wear hats so I dont know. Looks practical for light weight stuff but also easy to lose or stolen. 4. The sunglasses look really good. 5. The Infinity tool looks useful. Not for on body EDC, but in car. 6. That cutlery kit is something. If you get in a situation where you need cutlery you already have a knife and you have your fingers. This is bloatware for your EDC. If you are picnicking just bring the cutlery from home. 7. Totally agree. Your channel is my favourite EDC channel 👍
