Tell Fabio he's doing an awesome job those overlays look excellent! I see the opportunity for you to add all sorts of info in overlays like highlighting features or listing information, measurements, etc. As for VTX temps I'd imagine temp protection would shut it off around 105-120c max, but maybe it's off or not working, 110c is when heat significantly starts to reduce the lifespan of electronics and much beyond that should result in very quick failure. Good call not letting it get past 115c

1:11 I do like this. On my analog FPV plane I have quite the 'busy' OSD up. Artificial horizon, altitude, heading, all sorts of cool stuff like that. And that's something I won't have with the DJI HD system on my Kaos 60 build.

If it hasn't already been mentioned in the comments, "for whatever reason, Artisyn (sp) is making similar technology available to 3rd parties" could very possibly have to do with an exclusivity agreement that was signed with DJI for X amount of time, and that ran out. Happens all the time in tech.

Nice testing JB, answers some more questions there. Unfortunately the non compatibility with caddx/dji ensures that I continue my run of never giving fatshark a single cent of my money. At this stage I will continue happily feeding caddx/DJI more money whenever I build a new quad, just like I did a couple of days ago.

Agreed! Why people are so enamored with Fatshart when they have been THE LEAST responsive to adding simple little features, over the years, is beyond me! Ultra slow to release new products too. Yet, DJI has given us the very best digital system and picture quality FPV has ever seen... By far! And people hate on DJI! IMO, it's the guys that don't think they can afford DJI, yet the other systems are now more money! Especially when the new HDZero goggles come out and that system also becomes more money to purchase than DJI. And NO, I'm not sticking a tack on, hokey, Jerry Rigged module on top of my goggles! Only total dorks do that! The ultimate in hokey and goofy looking! 😂🙄

I love that little fan... for what it's worth I have a really nice usb powered plastic fan that is easy to transport and move some good air. I was thinking of designing a "workbench" for FPV with a fan built in so there you go world, a free idea that is kind of obvious but then again, most of them are after we see the solution that the new design provides. And lots of commercial products operate around that 85C range, that is the temp that the manufacturers design the product to endure... military goes higher, up to I think 125C and the low temp is down there, like -55C, that might be the commercial spec but that is cold enough as it is! Good product designs will often "temp cycle" from that -55C to the highs of 85C or higher up and down over and over to artificially age their designs and to also help them look for weak spots in the design that can be fixed before going to full production. Some will even have the product attached to a multi axis vibe table to give the components a little "shake"! Also, think about it, do you really think that DJI would be willing to "share" any of their code, or electronics and IC's, etc...? Not likely, I do think what Joshua is saying in this video sounds reasonable and definitely could be accurate. I do like how Joshua is saying to also go listen to others that might know more like Tommy from Umagawd or Mads Tech or others that are knowledgeable... I have always tried to go with the truth even when it is uncomfortable or against me because in the end anything else is just playing games and politics... My name here on YT "Genjitsu" is a Japanese word that roughly means "actual reality" A word I learned almost 30 years ago from the teams at Toyota and have tried to live by as much as possible. Not always easy, for example lets say that you say something and later find out you were wrong, how do you handle it? Deny, deflect, talk about it being "conditional" or do you simply say - I got it wrong, I missed this or that because of this or that, will add this to my lessons learned. Take off your rose colored glasses, decouple your ego from "things" and let the facts and truth help everyone get to the very best solutions for all of us. Cheers!

Robert Droner FPV is a rather small market. If there are too many players none of the parties will have enough resources to flesh out their product to a satisfying degree (stuff like improvements, more diverse versions, etc). This wouldn’t be a problem if all were cross compatible like with analogue. But sigh... this becomes too messy.

Why is it that the only system, HDZero, with by far ... Not even close ... To as good of penetration of solid objects, is the only holding any promise for you? Oh, and don't forget that HDZero is the only system that has gobs and gobs of image distortion in the form of snow, fuzz, and those wonderful vertical rainbow colored bars that completely engulf the image. I agree, Carl is a good dude, and has the FPV communities back, and is trying to give us all the features we desire, but let's face the facts... His system is far, far inferior in performance, distortion on screen, and especially the ability to penetrate objects. Good dude - YES! Good system - well, if a distant 3rd place is good, then ok, yes too. 🤷😀🙄

@Bardwell If you were looking at budget as a driving factor, would you keep your analogue goggle (O30) and buy the WS goggle? Or buy the HDZero goggles and use a WS VRX? I already have the VRX and feel my analogue systems would be better with something like rapid fire. I've been weighing pros and cons and just can't make a decision. I don't want to abandon analogue altogether for my micros and park flyers.

I have been watching a while now over the last few months and finally, totally jumped in for FPV. I fly DJI camera drones already and nothing in the FPV world comes any where near close to that quality. But what we have for FPV right now - this looks like a good investment... I only fly the best analog gear available for my FPV stuff, and this will surely covert me, I am sure.....Your videos - as well as others - have helped me decide to finally make the leap to digital. Kudos...

For low latency video... The camera drones don't do low latency. It's a latency game here. The dji fpv DRONE, dji fpv system, and walksnail on 1080 flying slow come very very close to a dji Mavic video feed man. But with a Mavic, like I said it's latency is much higher... But it doesn't matter, or you don't notice, because your not controlling the quad manually, the accelerometer, and software is helping to control the drone the further away it gets.

I ordered and returned the DJI goggles this weekend because of things I didn't want to pay more money for. The strap was flimsy, there was no battery holder, and the shape of the goggles let light in. I am new to FPV but I refuse to pay money for something and then have $50 in more parts just to address the deficiencies with the product. That being said, I already don't appreciate that the goggles don't come w/ antennas. For the money it should come with good antennas. This all adds up to out-of-the-box they should just work. How do the goggles fit out of the box? Does it come w/ a good strap? Does it hold a battery?

I'm still holding out for one with proper sound tbph. I have a DJI Air Unit on my Kaos 60 FPV build because it at least records sound locally for the DVR but it's so damn quiet that it needs a lot of poking in Post to be audible even on a nitro bird like I'm flying. And it doesn't broadcast audio whatsoever, so it can't be heard by the pilot in first person and it won't show up on goggle DVR. Some of us DO want to hear our shit! I fly exclusively nitro and engine noise is a large part of why, so I want that feedback in my headset. Plus if I ever get into BVLOS FPV I'm gonna need that feedback to alert me to potential engine trouble BEFORE the engine quits outright.

Everyone is saying that these are not a dji goggle, then they did a good job trying to look like a dji product. Fatshark has not had actual recessed buttons with molded trim around them. They always used an electronic button under an overlay like a button on a microwave. And, the hardware such as screws and strap buckles look identical to what is used on dji products. If you have taken apart a Mavic, Phantom, Mini, etc all the attaching hardware and metal hold downs are the same as dji. Possibly purchased from the same supplier like what is used for frames and such but just seems a little weird. I also have tried cameras but dji to dji. The camera cables on the AU and Caddix are the exact same as the cable in the original Mavic Pro. I took a Mavic 4k camera and plugged into a Vista and it didn't work and that is with the same manufacturer. Haven't tried an AU but sure of the same outcome. I'm just skeptical of all of this but I do hope that FS WS improve.

really hope people can give fatshark a decent chance to nail this product. this hobby is small, innovation and breakthroughs dont come quickly or easily, lots of our gear wasnt totally ready for consumers, we are mostly pro-sumers, and should be ready for hickups and workarounds and higher level personal involvement in the development of our gear. i could list a bunch of stuff that didnt pass mustard and went on to become the best products available, the eagle micro, the og jumper tx16, the dji v1 itself, elrs, so please guys, remember early adopters are taking the risk for everybody else.

  • @TheDiegoAranda

Why? There is a more stable product already available that offers superior image quality, widespread adoption, standard frame mounting, and supports a radio link. You're saying that people should buy this in *hopes* that it will improve, but it's literally inferior and more expensive. There's certainly no guarantee that Fat Shark will support it in the long haul, or that Walksnail won't just close up shop in six months. Based on how hard every single FPV retailer is pushing orders of this thing, there's already a hint of desperation in the air.

So unless I’m missing something, there is absolutely no way to use these with a simulator? I mean, the way to get DJI working with sims is absolutely ridiculous, but they’re not at all in touch with the FPV Community. This is Fatshark and Caddx/Walksnail and they didn’t think some form of input would be important enough to include?! Yet another reason these goggles are a complete disappointment..

100% i would buy them right now if i could use them on my computer and get the full 1080p oled. if they do something like dji then it will down grade the 1080p making it a waste of $ for crap image on a computer. sad my goggles 6 years ago i could use with my computer but the low resolution was bad now that they offer 1080p oled they dont give us video in.

For sure, i loathe using my DJI goggles for sim, but at least there IS a way. Plus, fpv-wtf seems to think that HDMI In via USB-C is a possibility in the future, which would be fantastic. Like most reviewers have said, most of the current flaws with the Fatshark/Walksnail goggles could be fixed with future updates (though I highly doubt they’ll ever even be as good as DJI v2), the lack of input is a fundamental flaw that will be a dealbreaker for many FPV pilots. Maybe v2 of this goggle will hit closer to the mark. 🙏🏻
