I recently sifted from playing a string instrument for 8 years to trumpet and those exercises are helping me master my weird buzzing. Those tips are to be used by beginners and professionals. Thank you!

For the Caruso 6 notes the air should not stop between notes. The rules say steady air between notes. No breaks until the rests.

I was in really bad shape because I coudn't practice for a month ( before that I practised every day) and I had a gig in one week and a half. I was desperate to get my form back and this video helped me so much. I did this video every day along with long tones, buzzing and I followed the classic advice "rest as much as you play". It worked wonders. In one week I was back to the shape I was before my big break and the gig went great. Thanks a lot for this precious advice and for keeping us company in practice!

Thanks for the video and the workshop Chris. I'm going to try and fit some buzzing and lip slurs in each day and my key takeaway was about extending range.... Touch the ceiling everyday!

Chris, I subscribed to your page along time ago and it got lost in my feed I believe. I’ve been struggling as of late with just going over board with brute force and have gotten myself in a rut. Definitely a mental thing at this point. Last night at my wits end this video popped up and I watched it. Printed out the material and ran through it with you this morning. I feel awesome and really relaxed. No swelling, although admittedly I didn’t push the Caruso 2nds as I am pretty sore from a gig and concert from the weekend. I found this whole video to be an excellent way to start my day. I read the comments but one question. How many days a week do you recommend doing the Caruso stuff? I play everyday and as I said am combatting some bad habits so I’m leery of them at this point. Thanks so much for this awesome resource. All the best to you!

Thank you for the testimony, Chris, I really appreciate it. I consider Caruso studies step 3 of 3. It’s almost extra credit so if you choose not to do them you can still pass class if you know what I mean. With that said, they are certainly beneficial for some players. If you’re playing a lot of gigs then you can probably do without Caruso right now and be perfectly fine. Did you know that I have a brand new book called, “Master Endurance on Trumpet.” Read it when you can. It’s a short read packed with helpful advice. Reach out anytime. I’m glad that you wrote me today.

Well, these are fundamental exercises so yes you should play them daily. The kicker is the Caruso and no you shouldn’t play the Caruso daily.

Yes, it is. It’s more difficult if you are too firm in the center or if one lip is over the other instead of meeting 50/50.

Hum my fine young ferend set ferts berthing support ferm corners this will help you not to dip in to your buzz blow though the not hav a target you may allso use a tuner this will help you see that your are diping in to your buzz James stamp sead that the terumpet was just a amplifier of what was going on with the buzz and the mouthpiece
