That one kind of hurt. I thought we were buds. But you go buddy buddy with Sokolov in return so that's nice.

Skyrim's Ancano. He was condescending. He was quite interested in an immensely powerful magical object. HE WAS A THALMOR. Not sketchy at all. I still remember the countless hours trying to get through labrynthian to get a staff only useful for the quest. (although the mask and backstory were nice admittedly). In the end, he killed the archmage, hosted a very annoying battle, and almost destroyed the rest of Winterhold, if not all of Skyrim. Ancano has no reason not to be on here.

Pretty different - Most (if not all) on this list Plan to betray and are tricking the player for most of the Game. Wheatley was actually good - but then got corrupted by power and betrayed you. he didn't plan it from the start

Then he became hostile and when he died he dropped humanity, so I looked up who I had just accidentally murdered, and was kinda relieved that he was such a dirty traitor! Also Petrus of Thorolund should definitely be on this list. not so much for the player, but definitely for poor Rhea! ...Actually upon reflection, probably like half of the characters in Dark souls could make this list... Kreia is not as dishonest as her title would suggest. She does manipulate the Exile, but she genuinely believes in the validity of everything that she teaches you, and believes that it is ultimately for your own good. Seriously so much this. How was Patches not here? His entire function as a character is that he's extremely obviously a thieving murderer, and if you decide to try to help him anyway in hopes of reward, it's your fault that he *instantly* betrays you every time. He literally mocks you for your stupidity. It's probably the most on-the-nose example of the Soulsborne series' love of punishing players for poorly considered or unskilled actions

To me, general Shepherd was the 1st betrayal character in my gaming life. He killed Ghost and Roach, indirect killed private Allen and Soap too. I was very socked.

aamil 360 actually GTA 3 betrayal aren’t that surprising because they already introduced Catalina as the (Bad Guy) in the game. GTA 4 doesn’t really have any betrayal elements in it, both in the DLC and main story. GTA 5 just the same as GTA 3

As for the Pavel betrayal. The first time I played through I had a feeling that he was going to betray you, mostly because he was on the Red Line side and Artyom was a Ranger. If you talk with Kreia enough, she reveals her backstory of being a Sith Lord so powerful with the Dark Side that her eyes were completely black. She took two apprentices, Sion and Nihlus, and when they betrayed her, as Sith apprentices always do, it was especially brutal. As in choking, head slamming against a wall, bone breaking knee to the ribs and being thrown on the ground so hard it caused a small tremor brutal. She will share this secret with you even if you go completely light side, just keep talking to her.

They use a British accent for the classy character that you can totally trust with your credit card information and a German accent for the character you definitely never will trust because he will absolutely use your credit card information to destroy ze uniferse wiz a deaz ray. The henchman speaks Russian, the businessman Chinese and the clumsy but likeable sidekick either Italian or French. Did I miss anyone?

I'm not gonna lie I thought glados would betray us from the start I mean the game would be a bit slow it it way just a portal puzzle game and it didn't introduce a enemy so I just assumed she would be bad, Wheatley on the other hand I did not suspect, I mean his accent made him trustworthy... Right

No you were not. That is the best damn plot twist in gaming. The final conflict with him as awesome as well

No one's going to mention Solas from Inquisition? He's apart of your team to close the breach and you can become so close. (If you romance him the first untrustworthy thing he does is break up with you!) but in the DLC you find out that he is the Dread Wolf and the reason the breach happened! Thanks Solas.

To be fair, Kreia's betrayal is actually part of her training regimen for you because she wants you to realize your full potential and succeed (in killing the Force, yes) where she has failed. I felt way more betrayed by the Glorious General in Jade Empire. That bastard.

Joey from Suikoden II. It was a real gut punch, even with the foreshadowing.

Macil from Strife: Quest for the Sigil. He's your trustworthy commander for about the first half of the game, then it turns out he's knowingly sending rebels to their death because he's been corrupted by the alien virus they were supposed to be fighting. And he's a necessary boss fight to get one piece of the Sigil needed to complete the game.

Where is Solas from Dragon Age Inquisition? This useful rift mage who happens to know everything about the Breach, the Fade and Skyhold and appeared exactly where and when we needed him, the one true friend and possible love interest is never going to betray me, right? RIGHT??

***** you can do his loyalty quest without romancing him but you make a fair point However, Bull never betrayed my Inquisitors in my play-throughs - but it is unavoidable with Solas! >:(

+Zsuzsanna Printzné Tóth Getting real tired of all this 'Solas betrays you' stuff. He's just doing his thing, the Inquisitor is the one choosing to go against him, yet you see no one complaining about that. Double standards.

"And from that point on with everything out in the open it's pretty much him trying to kill you with his advanced soldiers, robot drones and… socket wrench." And right about there is when I lost it XD So… no Illusive Man from Mass Effect? 'Cause he's so trustworthy doncha know… even his name screams "trust me no really I'm totally on your side dude I'm a stand-up guy!"

Going back a bit, how about Yoshimo in Baldur's Gate 2? Nowadays being betrayed is par for the course and even a bit of a cliche so we're never really surprised and never completely trust anyone, but way back then, the likeable and loyal Yoshi's unfortunate and forced betrayal really came out of nowhere.

9:55 kotor 2 was my first favorite game. i still play it from time to time. still one of my fav games to this day. i didn't, obviously know that kreia was a backstabber when i played it as a kid, but ye. there were a lot of signs. but to be fair. even nowadays, i would think it's too obvious and think it's a red herring.

Spoilers of Assassin's Creed Unity ahead! What about Pierre Bellec? The entire fight I was so shocked and doubtful.

Honestly on my first play-though I didn't think Kreia would betray me simply because it was too obvious. She pulled a reverse psychology on me by outright saying "no seriously, don't trust me"

Atlas from Bioshock was not mentiond ??that was the biggest twist ever, I so felt betrayed would you kindly add him
