I think the first GTA was built on top of a bugged racing game

2:01 Half-truth: Ctrl+Alt+Delete was a reboot combo used since the first IBM PC and was supported at BIOS level. Future DOS versions kept this as backwards-compatibility feature, as well as pre-95 Windows. Task Manager was started as a side project at home by MS engineer David Plummer, and became available publicly for the first time in Windows 95, after Dave Cutler and other coworkers convinced him to "donate" the program. Continuing in the previous PC tradition of Ctrl+Alt+Delete as an escape hatch, they decided to launch Task Manager for that combination, allowing users to shut down problematic programs/processes. P. S. Ctrl+Alt+Delete was chosen deliberately because it's (almost) impossible for a human to press them at the same time accidentally.

Haha I literally went to the comment section to see whether somebody has already mentioned Dave's work here

Yeah, it's not 100% impossible to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete accidentally because when I was a child, had a Windows XP PC and didn't now about this function, in some couple times I smashed some random keys and managed to make the Task Manager appear. Imagine being a child, smashing your keyboard and out of nowhere a window that looks like a heart monitor pops up.

Awesome video. 2:52 probably the single most important "bug" in gaming history. It created the mentality of increase challenge as player improves.

    >game consoles weren't powerful enough to render the entire town of Silent Hill Actually, most game _developers_ weren't powerful enough to make a LOD system as good as Spyro ;) (That being said, Silent Hill and its fog are iconic, and a great example of a creative solution to a technical limitation)

@@dr_zyzz Uh-uh. Don't kill the messenger. Sorry to break it out to you, but it's mostly a legend, but a legend so strong that it was honoured in some of the later Civ games. I used to play Civ 1 long ago and do remember Gandhi going nuclear, but no more than other AI players when they got nukes. Both Sid Meyer and Brian Reynolds, who created the game agree on this.

I only clicked on this video just to make the same comment. This "bug" is false. It was never in civ 1 nor 2. I think that maybe it was added later as a joke.

Great video, way funnier than expected from the title. Small feedback on format: short time contributed to my click ( I have smol brain ), but sudden video ending was abrupt. Suggest adding a 15-30 second conclusion / outro.
