My home is paid off here in Ohio with no debt. I retire in a few more years and wife and I plan to snowbird every winter in Maui

So right in everything you say, I come to Maui all the time and is true expensive, no night life, hot, winding road, windy but if you are a visiter is okay, I don't think I want to live there.

Yes, all true, but I'm willing to make the sacrifice ;) We find ways to budget, go to bed early, avoid the traffic, and learned a new wind sport haha!
