7 things I wish I knew before moving to Australia 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Just over four years ago I made the huge move from London, UK to Sydney, Australia and I have not looked back!
However I moved over here basically not knowing anything at all about what to expect and I've definitely learnt a lot living in Australia for a few years now.
So I thought I would talk about things I wish I knew before moving here and what I would do differently if I was to move here tomorrow.
Let's talk about all things jobs in Australia, working holiday visas, average salary in Sydney, relationships and friendships living abroad and so much more.
If you have any questions about moving overseas just let me know in the comments!

The weather and the blue skies and the clean air definitely make a difference to your everyday feeling of being upbeat. I lived in London for a year and I loved it and all of the new experiences I had, but in Winter it was dark when I left for work and was dark when I got home. It was grey throughout the day and at the end of the day when I got off the tube in darkness, ducked into a store to get a frozen meal, caught a bus and finally arrived home, I wasn't interested (and either was anybody else) in anything other than going to bed to start the same day again the next day. I wouldn't change a thing about my time away from Australia, but, it is really hard to beat our lifestyle and weather. I loved being in the snow and experiencing a cold Christmas Day, but it is not something I would prefer to what I have here. Do glad you are loving it. Australia really seems to suit you
Thinking outside the square here. I have driven to NT more times than I have flown. Make a road trip out of it. So much to see and do in between Sydney and Darwin.
Very good, so I had a look at a video you made 8 months ago. Hard to believe they are the same person. Most obviously, 2023 Milly had a strong English accent where as 2024 Milly pretty much talks normally. And 2024 Milly looks much happier, healthier and self-confident than last years model. The fresh air has done you good.
im with you girl... im from salford, moved here 6 years ago with my aussie girl (lucky me) and living in sydney (west sydney to be exact) and i love it here .. would never move back home, all i miss is my family but they can visit me lol
Yes completely agree! Love this video 🤍🤍🤍
Love this Milly!
Great content Milly!
You're not the only one - my mother moved with me to Australia without knowing a thing about it. Not even a word of English. I think she just liked the sound of the name.
Well thought out and helpful video for anyone new to Australia. We'll done!
Fab advice as always x
Milly you're lovely. I'm an Aussie and I think you gave a good assessment of what to expect. I've lived in 3 continents and I must say Australia is a gem run by dopes but whatever it's a magic place to live... thanks ❤
Great info and well delivered. Do some videos of running in the mountains please.
Well done. A good approximation on the Lifestyle and the myth about spiders in the big cities. If the animals & spiders were all killers here & everywhere, there would be none of us living successfully and happily here! Again, well done on your video and I hope your life is happy, healthy and prosperous here in Australia.

What a lovely comment
What the actual heck! I also grew up in London, lived in Salford for 5 years and I've been living in Sydney for the past 4 years! I'm not quite as unique as I'd thought 😂
At last, common sense. Many in your position just want to compare with what they grew up with. Don't compare, it's different.
I've recently left Sydney due to the cost of living. Some good points 👍
Yes yes yes to all of these points, so relatable… I think I need to get better at saying yes to things. All I’ve been doing recently is saying no. Oops😅
Wish this video existed before I moved 😅🥰
It's a very common misconception, but in fact the ozone hole does not extend over Australia do your research first

True. It is hotter here bc the sun is closer to the earth than in other countries
Are you staying in Australia or do yiu plan on going back to uk at some point
To be your friend, would i be required to complete a questionarie?
Every British person likes Australia better than UK.

Muito interessante 🇧🇷
I actually felt a hell of a lot safer in Manchester than my home in Western Sydney.
Australia's awesome, so long as you don't entertain any delusions of buying a house and you're prepared for the major cities to be surprisingly not as traditionally "Aussie" as you might’ve been lead to believe, it's a fantastic place to eventually become bored with and move on from.
Sydney is not real Australia for sure. Break out!
You’re quite stunning.
I can and NEVER will be accused of walking a smelly, even a non smelly dog.
Your vid popped up in my recommendations ( no idea why) . Watched a bit of it. It's OK but i'm not riveted. A comment (since everyone seems to want them). All the words of your 27 minute video would take an hour and a half for an Australian to say ... Ozzie tip .. Slow down. Use less words to say the same thing. True Australian English is Laconic. Strive for that. Enough said.
stop with the hole in in ozone layer bullshit

Yeah it's not true. I don't know where they get it from.
From my Eastern European point of view I would have thought u were Indian or some sort of south East Asian hadn’t u said u were from the UK… bar the accent n ur name ofc… what a strange concept of homeland people in the west have …
