Just a note on the word povo. You can be povo and have money, just none to spare. It's not necessarily someone in poverty, it can be someone over their budget. Some people may cal themselves povo even if they're not povo because their kids or someone keeps asking for something.

One of my joys. I came here from England in 1976. The first time I heard a flock of cockatoos when I was on a country drive, I thought that the birds were around my car. But they were 100 or 200 metres away. They are very loud. We retired and moved to a seaside town five years ago. Before that, we lived in Sydney and Melbourne suburbs. We were occasionally visited by lorikeets, rosellas, galahs, cockatoos, etc. Since we've moved here, we're surrounded by noisy, beautiful birds. We get from two to twenty rainbow lorikeets visiting our bird bath on deck at the same time. Our garden is not manicured and we have several tall trees. We occasionally see kangaroos and wallabies wandering through. We have a lovely python that visits every few months, so we don't have a rat problem. Our garden is host to, I guess, about 20 kookaburras. They start getting noisy when the sun is starting to appear over the horizon (we can see the Pacific Ocean from our house). We do not need alarm clocks 😁 We think that it's paradise.

Years ago when you went to look at a flat to rent, if it was empty you would get the key from the real estate agent, pay a deposit eg $50 which you would get back when you returned the key, and go and view the flat by yourself. I remember doing that up to the 1990’s or early 2000’s. I moved about 12 times from 1987 to 2010 all over Sydney.

Yes there are heaps of great beaches in Queensland and all around Australia. The unique thing about Sydney is that there are heaps of great beaches right in the city so readily accessible from all the suburbs along and near the coast.

So true about our coffee culture, we are so lucky. I lived in the UK and it was hard to find a decent coffee, it was a real hit and miss. I think we are blessed because the coffee skills brought over by the Italian and Greek migrants stuck by carrying on boutique coffee shops and not mass produced by coffee chain stores..... this is why Starbucks failed.......

That’s funny, as we have visited there four times over the previous eight years along with other parts of Europe. The people there could be considered blunt by some as they don’t mince their words and get straight to the point, but we always found them friendly if they understand you.I noted they always believe you are British when you speak English, until you advise them otherwise and with affects of Brexit they attitude may have changed somewhat in the last few months. i was wondering why train fair is so much cheaper down under compared to here. Especially because you mentioned James’ nana lives 66miles away and that only costs £4 vs the £60 we pay here in the UK for the same distance. However, on your other video, you mentioned that it took 3 hours (66 miles) to travel to James nana which probably explains the cheap fair.

I enjoy videos about peoples' experience in Australia but I wish there were more from older people. It's hard to related to an 18 - 25 y.o. person who has very little life experience and they often say things that are just not right because they don't realise the history. Commonly, they interpret Aussie slang completely wrong, because they are gaining a perspective from other young people. But in the end I love that young people come and visit Australia and I hope they have a great experience here.
