7 Stoic Stories To Guide You Through Life

The truth is delivered best in stories, in fables.
This is why the Stoics loved poetry. They loved the theater. They didn’t see art as frivolous. To them it was essential. It was a delivery mechanism for truth-not everything belongs in an aphorism or a discourse. In this video Ryan Holiday delivers 7 of the best Stoic stories that will guide you through life.
Sometimes we need it rendered beautifully. Sometimes we need it in a story. So it sneaks past our defenses. So it implants in our memory. As Saint-Exupéry writes in The Little Prince, sometimes it’s only with the heart that we can see.

If I didn’t give up after I became blind. I was cited for 27 years of my life, depressed and even suicidal… please don’t. Life will never give you more than what you can handle. I choose positivity and happiness and now through my KZread channel I’m on the journey of reigniting Hope, happiness and inspiration in the world. Don’t wait until life is no longer hard before you decide to be happy

you can watch 100s of ryan holiday videos and still not become a stoic but at the same time 1 video is enough to turn you into a stoic action is the only difference you gotta apply it stoicism is merely a guidance of life you have to apply the guidance it gives you

OMG!! I say all the time that the birth of my son was the best worst day of my life. Had 10 hours of labor, made it to 9 cm and had to have a c-section. The one thing that I told my doc that I did not want to be part of my birth plan. My second worst best day of my life, that I had premonitions about, is when the same child had a head on collision with a school bus and survived and only suffered a compound fracture of his leg. The day lives on as the day that something worse did not happen. All events are neutral until perspective is applied.

I don’t know how Ryan does it, but I feel like he’s talking *directly* to me. It’s an art, like a form of one sided casual conversation, but I feel equally engaged. I’m very new to stoicism (or had been practicing certain elements without realising it was related to this philosophy) but I haven’t looked back since finding it, like finding an overarching purpose in life. My thanks to Ryan & everyone behind this channel 🙏🏻 Memento Mori!

Damn man..... you're what I've needed. I appreciate your wisdom. It's helping me get through. I love how stoicism has naturally been my path.... but now it's being put into perspective in my early 40s. Can't afford your books, but you offer us this knowledge for free. Thank you, you are helping me more than you may realize. This should be taught throughout school.

And then have to accept it because it’s in the past “you can’t unring a bell!” Mostly it’s my mouth that gets me into trouble and impulsive behaviors I meditate and train and listen but I keep making the same mistakes! I feel like Paul “I do the things I don’t wish to do and I don’t do the things I wish to do” I love the law of God but sin still lives in me! How can I stop making the same mistakes??? Ryan?

the kennedy/king story is a weird one to my brain..... if Kennedy had not made the call and King had stayed in jail a little longer and been released by some other means, it's possible they both would still be alive today. Idk why that's the element that stood out to me in the vid... it has nothing to do with stoicism. Just a thing that made me go Huh.
