Those are good tips. I spent money on octo holders that didn't work worth a darn...the snorkel holder works great. That swimmer's ear tip would have saved my last day of diving last winter in Mexico...plus the pharmacy cost for a medical treatment. I never realized that Baby Shampoo wasn't reef-safe...seems like everybody on dive boats uses it...
I loved that tip for swimmers ears, my daughter suffers very often of that problem and i didn't know about this solution, thank you very much
White vinegar and some eucalyptus work pretty well as a wetsuit cleaner too. Let it soak, let it dry, smell gone. Having had pets I’ve started to hate the smell of enzymatic cleansers but must admit I’d never considered them. If you get no shit eucalyptus oil only is a little or your whole house will smell like it.
Your best video ...EVER !!!!!!!
I loved the 8th hack..... thanks a lot buddy!
LOVE IT!!! I'm a Hack Lover. Fin strap is the Best one. I'm a dog guy, so I naturally use nature's Miracle, an enzyme based cleaner just like you did!!!! awesome video! Stay Safe down there!
Sooo good! .... our favourite was emergency fin strap!
Excellent. Thanks, James!!
I found that the white bit in oreos are really good at cleaning off slates, and it leaves food for the fish.
Do you have any tips for how to attach a boltsnap to your primary regulator in a long hose primary donate setup? I've been reading that tying with some line from your spool isn't the safest because if your buddy has an out of gas emergency while you're on a stage bottle and your primary regulator is clipped off, the regulator that you'll be donating is not quick release. Someone was suggesting that the boltsnap on the long hose should break away, but I don't know what to use for that.
Great tips. I actually have an ID photo on my GoPro. Its a good thing to do.
Thank you! Unexpectedly brilliant. Actually, saying that, should’ve expected brilliance.
Great info as always.
Great episode. Useful little tips that can save a dive - I'm talking about the fin strap repair, that could also work on a mask. For the peed-in wetsuit; had the same reaction as your clip on a boat one day :-D
Nice one James.
Great vid again James! I did get my action cam back b/c the tender at the air station recognized my buddy's dive computer from video I shot who lives on Santa Catalina while we were diving Casino Point Dive Park. So, ya, it does work hack #8!
Great Hacks! Are you selling defog?
Pissy wet suit really got me 😂😂😂
And another Thanks. Nice usefull tipp´s.
Great tips! Thanks James
Awesomely dynamic and to the point
Great news James your nearly at 20K congrats mate :-)
great stuff mate
Ordered 2 snorkel keepers off eBay £2.48 for two with free postage Thanks James
Wow, I recently started watching your videos, they are awesome keep making them. Can you also do more product reviews, would love to hear your opinions on various gears😁
More Vids like this one please!!
Vinegar and alcohol work fine for swimmers ears, I store my solution in a ears or eyes medicine bottle. If you suffer of swimmers ears you can coat the ear canal with baby oil before dive, work fine also after dive

Glad you liked it! Thanks Brandon!
For GoPro I’d add take a picture of your contact info, a selfie, then a picture of the company you’re diving with so at least the person who finds it may just hand it back to the dive shop you were diving with. It might get it back to you if you’re still on vacation.
I found a GoPro Hero 8 Black on my last dive. There was no info on the card, but I did get a nice video of the person dropping their camera, and it sinking to the bottom at about 60ft.
Love the channel keep up the great work. Hood to get real tips to improve and enjoy diving more. What is your ratio for your swimmers ear please. G’day from down under
you can also place a txt file on the SD card used in the action cam :)
On the swimmers ear trick...what is the ration of alcohol to vinegar?
I just want to add that it would be great to put labels on your o-ring organizer showing the sizes and maybe even the uses of the o-rings.
I would love to see a video on how you clean all of your gear. Specifically what kinds and concentrations of soaps and other cleaners.
Spot on! After several stories of finders trying to reunite equipment with its owner via increadible detective work and/or social media sharing, I too figured out a couple years back that a photo of some contact details would exponentially increase the chances of a successful reunification with at least the content if not also the equipment.
Cool
For the ear alcohol, I would suggest using an empty saline bottle or something similar with a dropper. Using a spray mechanism could unnecessarily put pressure on the eardrum, possibly causing damage. With the dropper, you can squeeze it in without pressure. Uses a lot less alcohol, too. Make sure you label the bottle so you don't try to use it on your contacts!!
I know I am late to watch this video bad man that octo thing at the end was amazing where can I buy it from?
Hi James. Thanks for this vid. Please can you give us the ratio of isopropyl alcohol to white vinegar. Also, can this be used before diving ?? Thanks. 👍

Start with 50/50 and add water to dilute until your ear isn’t itchy. This May not be an issue unless you’re diving everyday, but sometimes swimmers get their ears to dry and it starts itchy and flaking in there(atleast my kids and their friends had that problem).
Any chance you could do a video on a solid drying system for wetsuits and drysuits? I've considered building one out of PVC but do you have any specific recommendations on making sure your gear is dried properly after diving?

Hi I am using a shoe-dryer from CO, and some extension-tubes on my drysuits. I have been using them for 4-5 years, with no issues what so ever.
for swimmers ear what is the mix 50/50?
Where do you get the Divers Ready mask defog, and is it really better than the homemade stuff?
@dom8151
3 жыл бұрын
That is Stream2Sea, not made by Divers Ready. stream2sea.com It's not about being better, it's about being safe for the aquatic environment, but in my experience, it is just as good.
Great tips. FYI, there's a typo in your GoPro hand written info!
for the swimmer's ear tip are you doing 50/50 mix?
@ernestlcolemanjr

Use rubbing alcohol/vinegar ear drops A common mix is 50/50 rubbing alcohol and vinegar - the alcohol works against bacteria and dries the ear, while the vinegar makes sure the ear does not dry out too much by the alcohol.

I have exactly the same question after watching the video.
Can you get an open water cert and an advanced cert from different certification company’s? (Ex. IDEA for open water, and PADI for Advanced?)

Carter Tappan The short answer is Yes.
I clean my slate with toothpaste !!! Keeps it minty fresh no matter what I wrote !!!!

And magic erasers tell you to wet them first. Can't tell because of break in vid, but does not look like damp eraser working.
Tip number four: i usually spit in the mask and wash it away with the ocean water.
Who don't like to save money thanks
Who the hell pisses in his wetsuit?
Please just please I beg you, don't call it hacks
