I move to Charlotte in 2011, bought h home in 2012. Moved back to NYC in 2014, sold that home in 2022. The finances equal out, because I got paid much less in Charlotte, I agree it is slower in Charlotte, that's why I moved back to NYC to slow and boring for me. Blue states for me. I felt like a fish out of water.

@lisamccoy6167 Totally agree the slow pace is something to take into consideration. I have an investment property in Charlotte, NC - had to terminate the relationship with my first property manager b/c she moved too slow which was driving me CRAZY! I wish you would have kept your property in Charlotte, for use as a rental (property manager handling all tenant aspects). Did you consider using the equity in the Charlotte property before your move back to NYC?

Nooooooo. Charlotte’s def NOT New York. Only if you’re running from poverty & crime ridden sectors in NY city then this may be an IMPROVEMENT for you. Otherwise, if you live in NY suburbs with high socio economic and highly college educated people- do not move to Charlotte.

I absolutely loved living in NY while I was there, but I have to say that I feel less stressed here than when I lived in NY. I do see the benefit of living in areas like Long Island but property taxes there are astronomical.

As a New Yorker, Charlotte, NC is a no go for me except for business purposes only! I am a real estate investor and can attest to the real estate value in Charlotte, NC. I purchased a foreclosure as an investment property in Charlotte, NC; the equity has more than tripled over a few years! The property kept me afloat (I live in NYC) at the time I either lost my job or decided to go back to school and focus on my studies. Charlotte, NC is a landlord-friendly state. I disagree that Charlotte, NC is the "new" New York, I am from the mid-west and know what it is like where public transportation is non-existent and transportation is solely vehicle reliant. I also own my own co-op apartment in NY. The convenience of NYC public transportaion (although I drive to / from work, etc.) cannot be compared to that in Charlotte.

@summerwoods6807 meh more comments without argument as to why or what, well if you didn't like the city then you weren't the potential of the city like you did in the state because I don't see it not because of quantity but quality and another thing because you laugh What makes me laugh is the version of some people from New York or other state because I don't verify the quantity but rather the quality. If you want to have a better quality of life and money, she was concise about what she said, but I don't agree, we are small, we are going to bring the World Cup of America. For the semifinals and third parties and more, the richest Japanese leaders in all technology and work are the North Carolina state that has the most relationship with Japan and economic straits and power and other countries, although in New York there were some, well, I'll tell you something, they are moving to my city to another city like new york and atlanta seem to have something when they don't have it and reach that level to be superior by having tall buildings their state and city only declines more tax increases and more quality of life is very rare new york more They are people from the whole world but time there is very short socially word does not describe whether you like it or not if not the history itself evolution that given charlotte nc in the world since before it was not so recognized now it is the center of the world you have children in new york imagine How much does each room cost, the better? Solve the problem of migration because it is increasing, although they welcome them, more will come, no matter how many buildings and jobs they have, the quality of life is terrible. The buildings on top are pretty bad, but on the bottom, it is garbage, poor people and garbage everywhere, wow. New York City although the decision is your own but you must remember with the evolution of time it becomes even more powerful thanks to each person doing the best, most intelligent and conscious way of their own life I love my city not like anything will help many people give opportunities of work and labor force to work in the state and come have a rich life in the city of Charlotte without appearing.

@myimperfectdiary890 Racism is under the radar in NYC, when I purchased a co-op foreclosure I was the 3rd black in a 219-unit building (100% owner occupied / no rentals) now the only black. Just learned about "selective discrimination." I am just as worthy & deserving as anyone else to live where a non-minority thinks I should not! I am using Charlotte to build my net worth with investment property.
