Spot on with your review. After retiring to SW Florida and selling off 23 guitars and 8 amps - all high end stuff, my wife suggested I play in our contemporary Christian group at church. Being retired I was not going to spend my retirement savings on gear. So, three years ago I purchased a Sire V7 alder 4 string sunburst. Best bass sound, quality and feel even at double the price. The headstock shape isn't great and don't care for the controls. But overall it is an amazing bass. This year for my 70th my wife bought me a Fender American professional series ii P-bass in Olympic white ($1,549). Deja vu my first bass my dad bought me in 1962 a Fender Precision in Olympic white (with bridge and pickup covers). Bottom line is the Sire V7 is better built, more comfortable, better action and more versatile. The Fender is a real showpiece but the Sire is my "go to" bass. I love my new P-bass but I hate to say it, anyone who is looking for a professional bass at an almost entry level price should consider a Sire. Again, they are amazing!

Hey Scott, love the channel and all you do for all of us out here in the bass community. I was drafted (so to speak) to become Praise & Worship leader at my small church after the Music Director passed away. I play bass and I am tasked with working with the Pastor to pick out the appropriate music for that week's sermon, managing all of the back-line equipment including the 24 channel mixer, organizing and running the weekly practices and interacting with our 9 person Praise band (4 female singers, pianist, rhythm and lead guitar, drummer and me on bass). I really enjoy the work I am doing to further The Kingdom and really appreciate when a member of the congregation compliments me on the music. I am using a Peavey Foundation 5 string with screwy electronics (knobs don't seem to do anything to the sound). I have always wanted a fretless bass with the flatwound strings as I have been told and have read that the flatwound strings fit in better with the contemporary Christian music; and I just think they sound so cool! Anyway, it would be a phenomenal blessing if I were to be chosen for the guitar giveaway. Thanks again for spending the time to read this and God Bless you and your family!

Hey Scott! First of all, amazing channel. Only discovered it like a month ago and I've been catching up on all the videos since then. Thank you for providing all this quality content for free for all of us. I believe that education can make all the difference in this world. And people who provide that for free deserve all the recognition. I've already learned a lot from you and I sort of get that genuine good vibe from your videos which is even more helpful. So huge shout out to you for all of that! It's hard to pick one for the looks because frankly they all look stunning, especially for that price range. Quality stuff really. Sound wise I have to go with the first one, the white Marcus Miller V7 since it's astonishing how good that built in EQ sounds. Really amazing range. I'm a big fan of Justin Chancellor and Al Cisneros whom are like the two different end of the spectrum (sort of..) in terms of tone. So I'm all sold with something that goes so well both high and lows. Aaaaand I also never win anything, like ever so the stoke would be real for sure! Cheers! Frank #sirebass

#sirebass Hey Scott! First of all I'd like to thank you for your generosity and for the chance that you've given us all. Now my favorite bass of them all was the Fretless V7. The sound of a fretless is always something different from the others. The looks of this bass closely resemble the bass that was played by Richard Sinclair (one of my inspirations), which is quite neat. I myself have been playing bass for a few years now. I started playing the bass cause from where I come there aren't many bass players. The only bass that I own right now is a cheap used Yamaha bass that is only good for Thrash Metal, but I myself am more a Jazz guy. With that bass I could improve my sound and style a lot. Hope you see this and hope I win.

#sirebass Hello Scott! How are you? Name's Ivo Samuel Giosa Domínguez. That's a Croatian first name, with an italian first surname and a galician second surname. Pretty cool, huh? And I'm argentinian. And I live in Spain. So, my favorite one when it comes to sound was the first white one, though that probably is because it was the one you fiddled about with the most. And color-wise it was that sexy vintage black one. Though to be fair, whatever you throw at me of those seven basses would be fine. Except maybe, the fretless, because I don't know how to play it. Or the five string one, because I played one once and didn't find it cool enough to switch. But really, anything's fine. Maybe I was actually baiting you to send me one of those out of irony. Now that I lampshade hanged it, I might have blown it. Or have I? Okay, enough post-modernism. So, why should you send me specifically this bass? ... I dunno. I could write a really manipulative a story about how I come from a poor family (kinda true) and how we didn't have money to afford a bass (completely true) and I basically had to work like a madman (this one I can guarantee it's true) to get a bass (a cheap Stagg BC-300 SB) at the tender age of fifteen. So, that story it's true, but it would feel kind of weird to me to write something like that. As you can see, I'm really don't know what to say, so I'm writing whatever comes to my mind first, praying to God you're entertained throughout this whole thing. ...but hey! I've already written like a million things, so that's it! Hope this message doesn't get lost between the half-million others. Thanks for reading! Okay, one final joke: Two fishes are in a tank. One of them turn to the other and goes: "Hey man, you know how to drive this?".

I have had a Sire V7, 5 string Jazz Bass for about 2 weeks now. I have played a Warwick 6 string thumb bass for about 10 years prior to purchasing the Sire. I am Gobsmacked! The Sire was literally 10 times cheaper than my Warwick and sounds phenomenal. The electronics are top notch and quiet. The fit and finish unreal and finally the rolled frets are second to none. They have won my heart. Excellent bass!

Hi Scott! Guitar player here... almost feeling like an intruder. I've been following your channel for a while and I've always found your videos very interesting and inspiring. I've even learnt some tricks to apply to my guitar playing too! Now, here's the thing: I've been willing to explore that "dark side" bass playing is for guitarists. Learn new tricks and techniques and finally, playing with new lovely grown-up toys. These #Sirebass (es) are killing! I totally love the look of that 5-string M7 (I'm in love with spikes). All those knobs and switches make me think of how awesome it can be losing tons of time exploring al the possible ranges and combinations and finally finding the perfect tone. On the other hand, the sound of the fretless V7 is as elegant as it could be! It would be very interesting to explore the possibilities fretless instruments offer (maybe even play it with a bow as a cello).

#sirebass I'm an accoustic guitarist, looking to pick up another stringed instrument- the bass. I'm jamming with my friends, as a bassist. I have no bass (I borrow when I can), and as young as I am (highschool student) I don't have access to money enough for one. I really want to continue performing and growing with my friend, and hopefully soon start a band. We also have a lack of bassists where I'm from. Your videos are inspiring and truly helpful to bassists of every level! Whether I win one or not, thanks for the videos and keep rocking! As soon as I heard and saw it, I fell in love the white one! The classy look, great build, my type of color blocking, useful knobs, and great sounds instantly caught my eye! I'm hoping to get one to kickstart my journey. Thanks again and keep rocking!

Greetings from Norway Scott ! My name is Sverre Billing.I was forced to take a step into the bass world when our bassist decided to not care for the band anymore. And I'm glad he did! My view of the bass guitar was twisted and narrow. After i had spent a good month practising for a gig we had already said yes to.I realiced how elemental the bass is to the sound, and how much it can change the mood and pulse of a song. I'm learning rhythm-theory from your tutorials and I'm starting to understand more how to build baselines lifting the groove of the song rather than just playing similar riffs to the guitar without thinking more of it. I really liked the sound of the fretless, but i would really like the vintage v7 black one. I have borrowed my step-dad´s bass for a long time now. And being a student I'm not able to afford my own for the time being. But whoever wins i think its a great channel you have going ! and its good to break down the bass stigma out there. and make this eccensial information available for people curious about the bass guitar. #Sirebass

#sirebass Hey Scott....super excellent video. I am an SBL Academy student from New Hampshire USA. I am (was) a drummer by trade and decided to pick up the bass to make me a more well rounded musician and drummer. I wasn't expecting to take to the bass as much as I have. I have now put the drums aside and am concentrating on being the best bassist I can be. I absolutely love playing BASS (even more than I ever loved playing the drums and I NEVER thought I'd say that!). I find it is the best of both worlds for me in that I'm still keeping time for my mates, but unlike the drums, in addition to keeping time, I am able to affect the song TONALLY which I find FANTASTIC! I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE playing the bass and want to thank you for all you do in the academy. As far as the Sire bass giveaway, I would be thrilled to own any of the 4 string Jazz basses...but the one I love the sound of was the 4 string translucent sunburst J bass and I love the looks of the 4 string solid white J bass. ALSO Just got my SBL ONE STRAP...ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!!!!

#sirebass Hi Scott, I love the fretless V7, a few years ago I began playing bass in Music at school and since then I have fallen in love with the instrument but currently I cannot afford one for my own. Getting a bass has been a dream of mine for a long time, but not just any bass, a fretless bass and that fretless wins for both sound and looks, I admire simplicity, I love their unique 'purr' and sliding capabilities. I love to slide and get chills when I hear John Deacon's slides in Fat Bottomed Girls still, this bass would mean the world to me and I'd treasure it, watched you for a long time so I am prepared to handle a beautiful bass. Great video as always, thanks a bunch Scott and everyone who supports the channel!!

@sirebass. I was extremely impressed with the sound and looks of the Marcus Miller Sirebass guitars. It was just like Christmas watching you unwrap the individual basses - as my heart was pounding with excitement. I could almost smell and feel each piece you so wonderfully demonstrated. Awesome equalizers and beautiful finishes. While difficult to choose which bass I prefer, the translucent natural finishes on the Frettless Jazz and 5 string Jazz are awesome. I like the sound the ash body presents and the look is top notch. To choose between the two - the 5 string Jazz is top notch. Realistically, it would be a pleasure to have any one of these treasures. I do play a few Fender bass guitars - notably Precision - but I would love a change. The versatility of these bass guitars is over the top compared to Fender - and the affordability is just too much. Of course your bass playing talent is remarkable. Love the glove and interested in giving one a try. I was a solid musician in my younger years, drifting slightly as I aged, with more important duties pressing the time I could dedicate to my music. Children and work had warranted little time for playing. Now those commitments are of lesser importance, I am ready to dig back in to the Rocker I once was. Having cut my thumb off, and having had it sewed back on, the healing process and ability to play has been dampened. I am starting to play again, even though there is some pain and difficulty in doing so. A new bass, especially one of this caliber would push me back to where I once was and where I was happiest. During the last 4 years, I have suffered with mental health issues and have not been able to work. I still love my music, which takes me away from my PTSD and stress, but I just can't get out of my shell. I have forgotten what it is like to be normal and my hope would be that winning one of these bases (and it really doesn't matter which one) would pull me back to reality and on a path to a promising and successful rest of my life. I do thank you for considering me. I would also add, that I would be pleased to provide any testimonials with reference to winning a Marcus Miller Sirebass guitar. Thanks again. Leon

#sirebass Oh that 5-strings bass. I loved the sound and it looked like you could handled it easier than the others, maybe because of the soft and clear neck. I'm not sure if it's because I always wanted to get a 5-strings but couldn't. Well I can tell you a lot of reasons why I want it, but I'm gonna tell you just one. There is a point when the player's skills have reached a great level and he needs to upgrade his bass, in order to get better and improve his skills. I've been there for a long time and I'm still not able to purchase a new one. I promise you that if I get it, there's not gonna be a day without me touching this bass and jam the hell out of it, except if my fingers are gone. Have a nice day everyone, keep practicing.

#sirebass Hi there, Scott. Thanks in advance for this opportunity. First of all, I will tell you that all of them look beautiful, but the one I like most is the PJ one. It gives me some old vibes that I like and of course, that color is just awesome. Before telling you why you should send it to me, I will introduct you into my story and then give you some reasons that I hope you read. My name is Marcos and I am from Argentina. I started playing music when I was 8. At first, it was the guitar, then piano and finally bass guitar. Two years ago I got in jazz with my guitar, but as the time passed, I found that the groove that bass can give is something that nothing else can be. Since then, I have chosen bass and studied jazz to get my theory to next level. In addition, I got in funk and jazz fusion styles, where groove is everything. This means, I discovered some of the most incredible bass lines were recorded with a Precision. For example, James Jamerson, who is one of my favourite players used Precision bass. I also like Snarky Puppy and Michael league playing, but the more I like from them are the tones that League can get. At the same time, I have a SX Jazz bass of alder series. I think this is an incredible posibility to change this and try out both tones. I would love to get Vintage and Modern tones, which I consider it means I would become a more versatile player and would help me a lot to develop my own tone. On the other hand, I would like to add that in my country it's difficult to get good quality instruments. In general, Latin American has the highest prices for instruments and technology, which kinda sucks for the future of musician. In mi opinion, this makes players to use "high quality" instruments which of course they aren't and usually make gigs to sound quite "poor" about tone. At last, my objective is travel with the music. So, I promise you that by choosing me I will make sure to meet you at least once in the future, when this little goal become true. Now finishing my giveaway entry, I wanna thank you again for this chance. I don't care if I just don't win, but I hope you at least read this and think about the situation going around poor countries. Thanks Scott. Marcos.

#sirebass I'm just getting back into playing after years of recovery from a serious nerve condition. I know you suffer from focal dystonia so I'm sure you can relate. On 12/31/2013 I had a golf ball sized tumor removed from the median nerve in my right arm. I lost a lot a muscle mass and most of the feeling in my fingering hand along with the weakness, tremors, and pain that come with nerve trauma. I later had to have my thumb fused at the joint as the muscle and tendon had atrophied. I thought it was over. I had to learn how to write again so playing was out of the question. I had my last surgery in February of 2016 and I'm finally feeling like everything is stabilized where it is. You've inspired me to start again and to rebuild my style. Listening to how well you play with your nerve condition gives me hope. Winning one of these basses would give me a high quality instrument to learn on and countless hours of enjoyment. That black jazz is absolutely stunning and the PJ sounds fantastic too. They all sound like amazing basses and I'll definitely have to keep sire in mind going forward. Thanks, Jon

#sirebass Hi Scott! Im 22 and im from Argentina, ive been following your lessons since 2013 i guess, and just to figure it for you: ive studied english in an english institute here in my town since 8 years old till 16 or so, with cambridge exams and all, and while i love the languaje and plan on travelling to england hopefully sometime, it has never been more useful to me than to learn playing bass and studying music with your videos. Killer topics you choose, its like any title i cross on facebook or here its addictive, gotta see the video as soon as i read the title lol, even travelling from work in the train or bus or whatever, and i cant watch i gotta save them for later or otherwise i feel guilty in case i get left behind. And not just the topics you choose, but specially the teaching aproach you have, totally natural easy-going and lovely to hear those licks and grooves. You are one of my favourite bassist ever cause of you technique and playability, but specially your feel and taste to play, like any bassline of a song should sound. Anyway, i hope i can travel to england sometime and if i do, i will try to have a lesson or some with you, really masterful teacher, even for someone who talks another languaje, but music is universal and you truly make it feel that way :). Since here in my country everything is so damn expensive to buy (to own a fender usa in argentina is a complete luxury), i play a cheap Sterling sub series(cheapest stingray i guess), and i play mostly soul-funk stuff so i wanna go for a JB now. I hope i win the beautiful ASH BODY MAPLE FINGERBOARD JB(the second you played here). Sorry for my english, cheers mate! Please keep on doing this great music teaching world, is a wonderful escape for some sometimes.

Hey there Scott! If I had to pick one, and only one (because a close second would be that fretless, mmmmm, love that sound...), it would definitely be that 5 string #sirebass beast you played towards the end. It both sounds and looks amazing. When I seen it I actually perked up in my seat! I'd also like to take the opportunity to thank you for being my teacher all these years. After discovering you on KZread many years ago, I decided to buy my first bass and the gift of a new one, from my teacher, would just encourage me even more to learn, play, and make music. Merci!

#sirebass Howdy Scott! I really love the look and sound of that PJ combo! I used to play bass with my friends and I really enjoyed playing it! To the point I over played and ruined my wrist sadly... I also had to sell my bass for my college tuition... which now I really regret selling it... (I used to use a Jazz bass) Our band actually made it to 4th place in PNE star showdown back in the day when our band was active, too! Long story short, I miss playing bass and I believe my wrist has been healed now! I really would LOVE to start playing again... However, I am still attending my school and do not have money to buy a bass for myself to start playing again... I know a lot of people would have different reason why they would want to get the bass and I really appreciate your generosity for this great opportunity!!

Scott, I've been playing over 40 years. My first bass was a 1975 Precision I bought brand new for $350 (they were all $350 off the shelf at that time). After a year or so with the P, I did what many of us did back then and modded it with a Jazz pickup near the bridge. So here I am 58 years old, and gone full circle through steinbergers, musicmans, EUBs, ABGs, etc., and still have the '75 P. BUT....I've never had a J! And it's really weird, my Precision bass is white, but I always wanted a black one! So I'm thinking, "it just makes sense...a black Jazz bass....vintage style, to contrast with my white (actually quite yellowed) vintage Precision". Then, lo and behold, I come across this video!!

The Sire basses look great and sound even better! (You make every bass sound great!) I am a big Marcus Miller fan every since I heard him with David Sanborn back in the 80"s! I like the 5 string Sunburst you played so much! The tone, the look, you looked comfortable playing it right out of the box! I play a lot of different style gigs and I just want to be married to a great bass that can do it all for me, and that Sire bass could be the one! Send it to me and and maybe between your lessons and a great bass I can be the bass player I have always dreamed of being! I may even send you back a video of what I have learned from you on it! And by the way, thank you for all you do for the bassdom! (you know, like kingdom of bass?)

I'm already thinking about how I'll make the bass happy, and about how I can take care of it. I'll allways want to listen to it talk, even after a hard day. I'll wake up happy if only because I get to see it that day. I will never grow tired of its company. I have no more desire for other basses. #sirebass Scott this is awesome. I absolutely love the look and sound of 5 string with the flame maple body and humbuckers! I showed this video to my wife and she completely lit up looking at the same one. She's a piano teacher busy raising two kids, and she's taken to learning bass with a passion but right now doesn't have a bass of her own. The kids love when she plays too, they'll actually stop crying just to listen. Winning this bass would mean the world to us, and you and Sire would make at least four friends for life! Multiply that with her future bass students too (hoping!). What a great group of people for doing this!

#sirebass I loved that look of the fretless model! I have been wanting a fretless style ever since I saw the bassist for the Mars Volta rockin one, he had the painted frets just like this one and I have been lookin for one for the longest time! The only issue is with my band FINALLY finishing our full length album and about to get giggin, I only have a really terrible 200 dollar fender that i have had for almost five years, so with all the fees that come with a studio album, merch, videos, and touring I dont necessarily have the funds to be buying any new equipment (despite my needs for it lol.) So I would love to win that bass, and would love for you to eventually hear this bass drivin album I have worked tirelessly on! Much love Scott! Cheers!

I started with a Sire S7, the vintage Strat, then a few weeks ago bought a P5, dakota red, I was so impressed I sold my Markbass GV4 and ordered a V5R. It hasn't arrived yet but I'm very excited. I might go for the whole collection over the next few years. I can't believe the quality for what you pay. Amazing!

As an Upright Bass student, I'm starting to play Bass Guitar but i can't afford paying a bass, I live in Panama and i used to have a cheap bass, but nowadays it has loses the tone of it. I've seen almost every lesson you post on KZread, if only i could invest on something, ill approach to your page and buy any course just to let you know how thankful i am, because, every video you post on KZread, have a lot of effort that only few people can see. Thanks for your time reading this! And thanks for teaching us how to play the bass! #sirewire (I love the fretless one, bc thats my jazz style on the Upright bass) Saludos! Sorry for my bad english

#sirebass Hey Scott, I´m a young Bassist from germany and first of all I just want to thank you for making all these great videos, which, by the way helped me to become better and better for almost four years now... I own the Marcus Miller V7 Swamp Ash-5 NT for about 2 years now and it is absolutely amazing! I´ve made great experiences with it, especially on and off stage. This is why i would love to experience either the PJ #sirebass, the fretless #sirebass or the M7 #sirebass, these basses are just such a great gift for young musicians like me, who are not able to spend a huge ammount of money for such a good quality instrument. Thank you very much Scott!

#sirebass WOW, Scott. You are one lucky guy - not one but seven gorgeous basses! They all look and sound great. The sunburst ash 4-string jazz is the most beautiful LOOKING. But to my ear, the best SOUNDING bass is the one that I am DESPERATE to own, and that is the white alder 4-string jazz with the tortoise pickguard. I have watched this video a bunch of times already, and I am positively drooling over that bass. It sounds so smooth and just perfect. I am self taught (so far), and I feel like I have really maxed out on how far I can advance on my own. Owning that bass would inspire me to practice hard every single day (not just noodle around), and to take formal lessons so I can advance my playing to the next level. I am hoping that with enough hard work, I can be half as good as you some day! Thank you so much for being a huge inspiration, and for sharing your incredible talent (and great sense of humour!) with me and the world via KZread - you are the best!!!

I’m hoping to purchase one of these in several weeks! I still cannot decide which one. I want a new 5 string fretless bass and I am blown away by these bass guitars and the affordability. Im inclined towards the one with sharp cutaways and those beautiful pickups! But I’m not sure what the neck will feel like. Due to the fact I’m now disabled and I have much muscle wasting especially in my hands I also have small hands I’m wondering if I will manage to play it. I’m very interested in the 5 string fretless jazz bass. I’m pretty sold out on the sound and also the neck is probably much better for my hands. I’m have tried a jazz fretless and I absolutely fell in love with it but the price tag was well over a grands worth! Which you would expect. The basses you demonstrated especially the jazz bass blew me away. I’m also impressed with the precision bass! The sound and the jazz neck. The one with the huge pointed cutaway is gorgeous but I would like to hear more of it. I suppose the only thing I can do is order one. I’m impressed with them all 😍😊

#sirebass I'm really digging that 5 string double humbucker bass. It's got a great look and sound! I just joined a new band and their songs were previously written on a 5 string but I've only got a 4 string so I've been having to adapt the songs for my 4 string. I would love to surprise the guys at practice by showing up with this bass and playing the songs as they were originally written. If I got this bass it would really help me start off on a great foot with these guys and I could put it through its paces on gigs. Thanks for the chance Scott! Good luck fellow groove-hackers!

#sirebass Awesome video and awesome channel, Scott! It would be very hard to choose between the M7 "Beast" and the fretless V7. They both sound incredible! The M7 looks stunning but I also like the natural wood color on the V7. In the end, I would probably go for the M7 because I would love to get my hands on a 5-string. Good luck to everyone!

Hi Scott, someone's probably said this before but the vintage jazz bass has 70s pickup spacing with the bridge pickup nearer the bridge to give that classic Marcus tone. I'm using P7 second generation 5 string and it's a fantastic bass! Dude!

#sirebass Oi Scott! Shoutout from Brazil, have been watching your videos for sometime now, after my teacher introduced me to your channel (he loves your lessons and so do I). I first started bass back in 2013. Tried guitar in '08 and I gave up, practically gave up of music too. In 2012, a friend invited me to start a rock band, inspiration being mainly Pink Floyd, The Smiths and some Brazilian bands, like Ventania. He asked me "I'm singing. What are you going to do?" and I told him "Well, I'm playing guitar." and there was already a guitarist. I said drums, already had a drummer. Then it just popped out of my mouth "I'm playing the bass." After a series of pledges to my delude parents, I started taking lessons. As soon as I bought my first and only bass (a Cort B5), my teacher said he could not keep teaching me. I went back to the place I took my guitar lessons and I started taking lessons there, and I still take. Some have mocked me for playing the bass, but I guess people just don't understand. Bass is really an instrument that chooses you. It talks to you when played. In a band, it's the blood pressure of music. I fell in love with bass and music again. Because of bass I started learning more instruments by myself, but I always say when someone ask me if I play anything I'm a bassist, and really proud of it. I had two bands and was starting a third one few months ago, but I'm also struggling for university. Although I'm stuck to books for 12 hours five days per week, I always take at least two hours to play. Some days, I just sit there and play everything I know how to and don't know how to (not saying I play it well, but just taking some time to get intimate with music). Today, my parents tell me every time I play they do not regret anything having trusted me and struggling they have to to afford lessons, and that they could not be more proud to have a musician in the family. Anyways, I'm writing too much now. I'm in love with the V7 Vintage and I believe it would be really nice to play it. Thank you for spending your time and probably some patience in reading this. I like telling stories. Best regards from the land of samba and bossa!

#sirebass I was just researching bass guitars and came across your channel. First, the black V7 vintage is absolutely beautiful. I also thought it sounded just a bit more powerful than the V7 and had the best sound. Secondly, I started researching bass guitars because I was looking for a new hobby. I've been married for 20 years and have 3 wonderful kids. It seems that I've been so busy with life that I've failed to pay any attention to me. My oldest daughter started playing guitar last year and thought that by me taking up an instrument it would give me a chance to not only give me a life long hobby but also an opportunity to play music with my oldest. After thinking about instruments for weeks, I decided on bass guitar. I started researching the various styles of bass guitars and stumbled upon your channel. In all honesty, not only did you convince me my choice of playing bass guitar was the correct one, you also sold me on the Sires. Thanks for what you do. I hope I'm chosen for that V7 vintage so my bass guitar adventure can begin.

#sirebass I love the sound of the PJ bass, but when it comes to looks I always loved the natural finish. The 5-string monster looks cool, pity it ain't a neck-trough, but despite that, I liked the satin finish on the neck (my friend owns it, or at least a similar one) I owned a vintage version of the J-bass, a lot of fanboys will hate me for this (trigger warning :P hah, don't say I didn't warn ya) but I wasn't so impressed, had to fix the frets because they were poking out and had black stains on a WHITE body. Also, I didn't get the gig bag... Despite that, I tried to give her a chance. Owned it for a year and later sold it. It was a decent relationship, just it didn't work out despite we both wanted it. But as any former love, we must have a nice memory. Really loved the electronics and the sound! Once I took it, ahem, her, out on a picnic and it was a blast. Most of the people liked her but some didn't. Fun memory! I did hear she and her new owner are having blast. So glad for her. Since many people are commenting how poor they are, like me (let's face it, 98% of the world), I will think of a better reason why should I one. I would love to try her sister PJ! So one day I can go out on a double date. Didn't saw her in a while now. That would be fun! Hard not to quote one good old song: "I got a girl, she lives on the hill. She won't do it but her sister will."

#sirebass I absolutely adore the look, finish, and sound of that pj bass. Now i'm sure there is a lot of people on here who have been playing for a while where as i've only been at it for 1 year now. In that 1 year span bass has opened my eyes and truly been an amazing instrument to play. so far i only have two ibanez's and they've treated me well. Not only would i be exceedingly ecstatic if i won that pj but i would get the biggest boost in mentality for learning said instrument. Everyone has bumps in their learning curve but just to hold a new bass would for sure boost my outlook and i feel it would help me succeed. Also i remember when i found your channel Scott. I had just got my first bass and i got home and realized the strings were all rusty and bent up so i went out and bought a pair but i didn't know how to change them so i looked it up on youtube and found your instructional video on how to do so. All i want to say is thanks for the great videos and good luck to everyone else!

I enjoy your videos and trust the information you impart. After watching your video I went on the sire web site, watched the Marcus Miller video and checked out the specs. Looks like a great instrument, regardless of price tier. I liked the dark red one best, but the sunburst is also beautiful. I would be grateful and happy with any one of those basses. To be perfectly honest, I am new to bass although I have been playing guitar for well over 40 years. I recently bought Fender Squire Affinity because it looked like a good quality low-end bass I could afford. I have a Hartke 150 Bass Amp on order after returning a Fender Rumble 100. I also have Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder pickups, a Mighty Mite fretless ebenol neck and flat-wound strings on order. The reason I would appreciate any of these basses is that I am improving quickly because I love the instrument and would love a better bass. Although I cannot claim to be great bass player by any stretch of the imagination...yet, you can get an idea of my sensibility by my favorite bass players who are currently Mohini Dey, Michael Manring, Billy Sheehan, Marcus Miller and Victor Wooten, plus scores of others.

#sirebass Hello Scott, in my opinion Sire V7 Alder-4 AWH (white one) is the best looking, but not just that, I really love that sound, so I would love to get my hand on it! Now the reason why I should get that bass, well, I play bass for a 10 years, first few years was only for fun, but now I'm in love with the music more than ever. My only problem is that I only have that one cheap bass that is 15 years old, and I think that new bass will get me so motivated that I could progress much more faster. #sirebass So, Scott. I know there are like a billion comments down here, and probably a good amount with very good reasons to have one of those babies. All I have to say is that I'm a musician with a quite low budget. And the situation here in Colombia isn't the best. You see, here, as in most Latin American countries, the dollar price is up the top. The instruments sold locally aren't very reasonable for the price, and don't even get me started if you want to buy something imported. Prices are ridiculous, and if you want to buy something you can't even play it first to try it! Plus, there isn't a great variety. Giving one of those would be a blessing for any of us really. I, for one, would be absolutely thankful for any of those. If I had to pick one, I'd say the fretless beautiful bass, cause it is the coolest thing I've seen. And it gets you the double bass feel to it (which is an instrument I've learned how to play, however I don't own one cause they're quite expensive!) The melody that comes out of it is purely magical, and you can get a pretty experimental sound out of that masterpiece, which is what I'm aiming for with music. I'd be tremendously happy for that. Anyways, sorry for the long ass text. Hope you get to read it!

#sirebass Big fan of yours Scott, best of the best in what you do. I've played some of these at my local guitar shop but have never owned one. Now for my favorite little monkey I would definitely have to go with the flame maple top, hum-bucker monster, sexy lady. That finish is just so, so..I don't even have the words it's golden perfection to my eyes. Now as for the sound definitely the same one (gotta be faithful to one and one only) with all the buttons, bells, and whistles on that baby I'm sure any desirable tone would be dialed making it not just a sexy piece of wood to look at, but a pleasure to hear her sing as well. I'll name her Roxanne if I get my hands on her. Would be my first 5 string to own and would assure you that she would be well taken care of and well displayed for the world to see and admire her song.

#sirebass Hi Scott! My name is Sam and I'm 14 years old. I've been a bass player for almost 4 years. Both guitar and upright. I have loved the bass since the very beginning and knew I would continue for the rest of my life and I still believe that. The bass guitar I currently own is... "broken". That's the best wording I guess. What I'm trying to say is that the neck is coming off. My favorite bass is the white 4 string you showed us at the beginning. I've been using the bass I have for 4 years and I've used it in my school jazz band and in the band me and my friend made and it's starting to go. I bought it at a pawn shop for about 60 dollars. Anyways, you probably aren't even going to see this or look over this twice but I really appreciate what your doing for the bass community and encourage you to keep doing this. And can I just say that you helped me learn slapping. Of course I'm not very good at it yet but I'll keep going!! Thanks again Scott for all that your doing!

#sirebass Hi there Scott. Love your bass lessons and videos. I love the beautiful 5 string beast! It has a beautiful look and sound (sort of meshed between jazz highs and funky lows) I currently play/compose in an experimental Jazz/rock/orchestral outfit called: Alex's Hand. Out of Berlin, Germany. We play everywhere and constantly! Recently I've wanted to switch gears to playing a five string bass as I never have. (Never had the money!) I've played for ten years in a variety of projects and compose music primarily with a bass. My current bass : (a 4 four string Lakland that I bought four years ago) is beginning to show wear and tear after so many years in travels cases and soft bags and I feel that the five string is a perfect move for my progression as a bass player. Music and art is a huge portion of my life so I'd love to keep on progressing and learning along the way. Thanks for your time.

I believe that I should get the five string bass because I am stuck with my poor quality $89 used yamaha bass and I would like a newer bass to expand my musical horizons with the extra fifth string and so that I can keep learning new scales and writing/practicing music everyday with a quality instrument. Thank you for this amazing opportunity Scott! Cheers.

#sirebass Hey Scott! I don't know where to start so it'll be with the Sire basses. I'm interested in the fretless v7, the cream one....It sounds so sick. The finish is gorgeous and the natural feel it gives off is a killer deal-sealer for me. Because I'm used to not having frets, I'm sure me and this bass would get along swimmingly. I play an upright bass at my high school and use this for jazz, but I have no real alternative. I picked up a pretty cheap electric bass I'm using at the moment, but this makes it very hard to practice or do work with for my combos. Upright bass is rather limiting to bluegrass, jazz, blues and the like, and as I grow on my instrument I have ambitions to spread out to other genres. My current bass works--but it's a clunker. Having something professional to play a gig on would be a Godsend for me and would give me some real motivation to get out there and do some gigging or even to start a band. Thanks for reading, I appreciate it so much! I and others really appreciate you giving us beginners a little boost!

#Sirebass Hey Scott! Thanks for the contest/offer and all the lessons. I'm getting back into playing bass after 22 years hiatus due to my military service (and subsequent injuries). I have missed playing so very much and I've been playing with some fabulous local talent who are very patient with me (it's harder getting back into playing that when I first started many years ago) Life hasn't been easy for me, many passions and dreams have fallen to the wayside - but I've been renewing them these last couple of months with a mature fervor. I hope that I can win one and be able to enjoy a quality bass guitar hopefully into new (and delayed) musical horizons. Thanks again for everything mate. Btw the 5 string (at 12:46) would be a choice, but really I don't care which one... either would be a great blessing. Peace

#sirebass Sup Scott, the base I would really like is the Alder V7 I love the look of the bass and the sound is just amazing. The reason you should give it to me is because I've always wanted to play a musical instrument and the couple I've tried just weren't for me.I had a go of a bass once at school and I loved it.My two uncles play guitar and they said it would be really cool if I could play bass.If I did have it I would play it 24/7 and put it to good use.Ive always to start a band with my friends and this could be one step closer for me.Thanks for taking the time out of your day to read this!

#sirebass Hi Scott! I loved that flaming 5-string! I started teaching myself bass a couple years ago but your channel has taught me so much about musical theory and scales. Some important things that I've been missing. My current bass is a decent Ibanez that i got used for about $100. It works for me but I have been dying to get either a fretless or a 5- string. I was between the two but I absolutely love the look of the 5-string and I'm really interested in using that B-string. Thanks for the awesome and helpful videos.

Hey, Scott! I love the look of first #SireBass that you played. The white finished alder jazz bass with the brown pick guard. I also loved the bite it had when you slapped on it, and the versatility. Such a nice range of colors. Thanks for the video.

Hello. I have a question about this bass. I own one)) And I found out that in passive mode, when I turn my volume knob to the max, its quieter than other basses I plug in to the cab. Is it normal? And the second is that my volume knob is pretty sensible, like when I turn it just a little bit it significantly changes the volume.

#sirebass Hi Scott! I really like the sound possibility of those basses, especially i like the white V7. It's got the exact sound what I searching for. The five string bass sounds really great on lower frequencies, I'm amazed. I love the pure look of the white V7 and that five string flame maple is looks awesome too. I really want to the white one to be mine, I think it fits the most for my musical projects. I subscribed to your channel like 2 or 3 years ago to learn how to slap, and you give me more advice than I expected. I like your videos and your style. I'm a better bassist since I learn from you. I can't afford a new bass right now, because of studies. I use my entry level bass and i want a a more professional one. I will work on this summer but I want to buy analog effects from the money. Thanks for this opportunity.

#sirebass Hi Scott!! I love how that PJ Bass sounds like, and the most beautiful to me it's the "sexy one" (the 5 string M7). Anyway I hallucinate with any of them becouse comparated to my Squier JBass all of them looks amazing. It will be amazing to play 'Detroit' from Marcus Miller with his signature bass (well if someday I reach slap knowlenge enough to play it). :)

#sirebass Hi Scott! The bass I liked the look and sound of the most was the flaming maple 5-string. When I looked at it at first I fell in love with the look, then I heard you play it and was amazed at the sound. I've been playing bass for a small while now, (originally being a brass player, mainly trombone) and since I started I've completely fallen in love with the instrument. I can't walk into a room with a bass and not play it! The main reason I want this bass is because it is so different from what I currently have and it'll add so much to my playing, especially with the bonus of the 5th string. I've also always wanted to start up a KZread channel where I play bass, and you've also been a massive inspiration for that. I'm also a fellow Brit and, if anything, that just keeps me coming back to your videos as well as my friends that I've introduced to this channel! Being able to have this bass sounds honestly amazing and I'd really appreciate receiving it. Kind regards, Dan

#sirebass HI Scott, I'm Laren and I'm 14. About a year ago I went to a red hot chilli peppers concert and saw flee play. It was amazing and inspired me to want to pick up a bass and play. After the concert I went online and researched bassists and how to play a bass. Then I found you and a couple others on youtube. ive been doing extra chores and babysitting to try to earn enough money but I still cant afford one. my cousin plays guitar and I would really like to be able to jam with him. I play the viola but you cant really rock out on a classical instrument. I tried to play smoke on the water on it and it didn't really go so well. I love the basses deep sound and really want to play. I really like the white bass with the fancy red on it but if you have one in mind that would be better for a beginner that would be great. I know I will have to work hard to be able to play but I am willing to put in the effort. Please help me fulfill my dream of becoming a bassist and being in a band.

Hey brother, if you are ever in San Diego, let me know. I'll give you the rundown so you can take in all the good stuff. May I ask when you are going to choose those who receive the bass guitars? I am so close to pulling the trigger on the bass 7 day free trial followed by a year. My wife will kill me if I buy a bass after having A guitar. She won't argue lessons though and I'll sign up immediately. Save me Obi-wan you're my only hope to bass playing happiness... #sirebass m7 or the other 5 string :) Either way thanks for keeping me nose deep in youtube after all these years. Cheers! (Rob, retired Army guy), Oh, and why I should be given the M7 or the other 5 string. The hair (literally) on the back of my neck raises when I hear gorgeous bass riffs. Its like therapy + bliss + instant party.

#sirebass Hey, I'm a young bassist from Houston, TX. I'm 16 years old and have been playing bass for almost 5 years. For me, I play multiple instruments, but the bass has always called my name. Currently I play a squire p bass which I've had for a while. It's a good enough bass but I'm trying to get better because I'm starting to meet more musicians and play out more. Sadly, I don't have enough for a better bass and I refuse to get a job because then I won't be able to practice as much (I shoot for 24 solid hours of practice a week). I really like that flaming red bass with the humbuckers. I've fallen in love with a similar model at guitar center but it's out of my price range. I'm a big fan of your channel for years and this bass would help me so much to play music I love (jazz,Latin, blues, and worship) Thanks for taking the time to read Leo

Hey Scott, I have just finished my GCSEs (21 exams) and I really like the look of the 5 string bass, as it looks fun and different to play. I feel like it would improve my bass skills as i am from a classical 6 string background. Just wondering if i could have it and thank you for considering me.
