You guys will have to put Della Falls on your bucket list, as it's Canada's highest after all (450 meters over 3 cascades). Yeah, it takes some time and effort to get there, but the adventure is what Vancouver Island is all about. Be sure to Google up information on trail conditions before you go. You can rent a canoe from the Ark Resort (or book a water taxi) on Great Central Lake, and paddle 35 km to the trailhead. Stick to the north side of the lake to spot a camping beach. The main campground (14 km up the trail- the base of the falls is 16 km) has been closed for years due to extreme windfall hazards, but you may find yourself with no other option, considering alternate camp areas are extremely limited. You can camp at the trailhead, which may or may not be helpful depending on the time you arrive. 7 km up the trail is Margaret creek, and there's room for a couple of tents there if you don't mind the mice (seriously, get your packs up in a tree if you don't want them riddled with chew holes.) Also, between the trailhead and Margaret creek, the terrain is flat and boggy, so unless conditions are extremely dry, you'll want plenty of bug repellant. Beyond Margaret creek, you climb out of the bogs, and the bloodsuckers pretty much disappear. Around the 11 or 12 km mark, there's a spot you can camp on a sandy creek bank beneath a rock slide. You probably don't want this spot if the weather poses risk to the creek swelling. There's really not much room at all here. Just past this, is the trailhead to Love lake in the alpine, just beneath the summits of Mt. Septimus, Rosseau, and the Misthorns. Love lake is the ultimate destination for viewing the falls, and the best place to camp. You'll have to explore the alpine a bit to find a reasonable spot to pitch your tent. This area is pristine, so please keep it that way! If you can't bring yourself to pack out your poop, at least burn your toilet paper in a responsible manner. Looking across the valley, you'll see Della lake beneath Nine Peaks, and the Nine Peaks glacier. The outlet of the lake is perched right on the edge of a cliff, and the falls pours out of the lake immediately. The scenery is stunning Total trail distance to this area is ~19 km, with all the hard work during the last 3 or 4 km.
