Transmission Fluid - Change every 30,000 miles Differential Fluid - Change every 30,000 miles If you use synthetic, which I do. Amsoil 75w-90 for my transmission and differential, you can go 60,000 miles before changing. Also, your radiator fluid should be changed about every 30,000 miles.

Motordyne G35 i bought a g35 and it hasnt had a transmission fluid change in around 45k miles, it now has 113k, would you recommend changing it now? Or leave it. Ive been told that its better to leave it if it hasnt been changed in a long time

  • @MotordyneG35

Cristian Chavira .....change it. 45k miles is not a long time. If you had never changed it at 145k miles, then you may not want to bother because it is too late, the damage is already done because you never changed it.

Car start up and warming up, straight from an engine builder I know, and makes perfect sense. Depending on how cold it is warm ups take longer. In modern cars with fuel injection, no chokes like carbs, crank the car give it 30 seconds to allow oil to get to ALL engine parts. Now drive easy until engine is fully warm. DO NOT rev it hard until fully warm and oil is really flowing. This protects engine internals. NOW do not let it idle for 5 minutes to warm, it warms more evenly with easy driving. Not to mention oil pumps do not put out as much pressure at idle as they do when driving. More pressure allows full flow of oil to all engine parts. This made sense to me, but do as you like. been doing this for years with no issues.

I didn't know all of them, and I've taken care of all of my cars really well (yes, I'll say it, for a woman, and I know more than many women about cars due to DOD (dear old dad!). You would be surprised with how many people, men and women, know zero about cars. My neighbor did no maintenance on her last car and ran it till she HAD to buy a new one. Brand new when she bought it and less than 70k miles when it died. Shocking! This should be a HS course, along with Parenting!!!

Agree 100% except partial disagree with car warm up. I just want to add that when you cold start your rpms will be elevated above normal idle rpm. You need to wait till those rpms return to normal idle rpms then you can drive it. May or may not be 30 -60 seconds. The reason you don't do the start and let run for 10 minutes ( like cars do with auto start) is now you have a warmed up engine but with still cold drive train. Like you mentioned and is very very important is to not drive like your racing (aka high room range) till entire engine is at full temp. As your driving down the road. Cold engine is a tight engine.( Metal contracts and expands with heat!) And tight is not good! (At least not on an engine lol). To bad your far from me. Be cool to get a cruise night and hang out.

I really have to say it seems like everyone in the comments is a car expert and wants to argue with your logic that makes complete sense and is backed up by evidence. You are spot on and take really good care of your vehicle and it shows. You have a good bit of miles on it and it still puts out great power and hasn't had many problems throughout its life. So obviously You are doing something right. While most of this stuff i already knew, I appreciate the info that was more specific to the g35 as i intend to upgrade to one when i get the funds for it.

Vehicle AC compressors are NOT variable load. They are singular on or off compressors. They are either engaged or not engaged. The recirc and exterior air options simply change the source path. It does not change the load on the system. The hardest thing on a system is a system that is never run.

  • @dreddieuf

One thing I do not totally agree with is that you need to warm up your G35. I have a 2006 MT Coupe and have over 180K miles. Newer cars (since the late 1990s), the car will warm up within 1 minute so a warm-up is not really needed. Also if you use full synthetic oil, you can just go as it is much thinner than the standard oil purchased in a new one. Otherwise good video for new owners of G35s.

  • @PhilipSamuelson

    @PhilipSamuelson

Agreed. The best way to warm up a fuel injection car is to start driving. Not start racing. Start driving and drive like a regular human being, the oil will warm up much quicker and cause less wear on the motor.

In my 350Z owners manual it says the opposite of warming up the car. It states that you should start moving as soon as you start the car and Ive heard several times that if you do warm up the car as the mixture is rich on a cold start you will get unburnt fuel passing down the pistons to your oil and ruining it.

Actually, I've heard that idling was really only necessary on older vehicles with less efficient oil systems (splash lubrication). Modern engines with oil pumps have the oil where it needs to be before you even have time to toss it in gear, assuming you're using the proper oil weight for your climate.

  • @MotordyneG35

Try reading instead of listening to others, it will help you in the long run with a lot of things. The manual was written by engineers. Here it is verbatim in the owners manual. www.g35club.org/download/2005-G35.pdf 4. Warm-up Allow the engine to idle for at least 30 seconds after starting. Do not race the engine while warming it up. Drive at moderate speed for a short distance first, especially in cold weather. In cold weather, keep the engine running for a minimum of2-3 minutes before shutting it off. Starting and stopping the engine over a short period of time may make the vehicle more difficult to start.

Tbh, all you need to do is for the first ten minutes of driving, calm yourself and don't overrev it. that gives the engine pleeeenty of time to come up to temp, and then you can do whatever the heck you like. you dont need to rest the engine after startup like this. just drive calmy for a wee while and your engine can do the rest once it hits operating temp. if you are that impatient to thrash it then you shouldnt own such a nice car :D

And I love my car more than I love myself .. so I am too afraid what loss I might have made. Please tell, as I have done only once ...have I made my car too much sad... and if yes...what should I do to make it happy.

Definitely use a spray detailer rather than just dry wipe (and microfiber cloths don't protect you if you do that like some people think). You can make your own quick detailer cheap with a gallon of distilled water, a spray bottle and your choice of many other products. This is a good video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/mnmVy9SmpMa9fJM.html Also for most people that wash their own cars, buying bulk product online is the way to go if you have the room.

You guys are wasting your time. You can keep thinking it takes 9 miles or whatever u think before the oil is at the right temperature but you're wrong. When you start your car on a cold start, the CPU is already doing things right on it's own, hence the RPM spike for usually 20 seconds or so and then it does what? Stops the RPM spike, unless it's literally freezing outside then of course it takes longer, for most of us that isn't the case as we don't live in Antarctica. Secondly, the oil sump readings is an average and does show where piston ring oil or bearing oil actually peaks, which guaranteed hotter than those data stats are feeding you, leading to false information, making you think it takes 9 miles to warm up the oil... which if you're referring to an entire oil TANK reading I'm sure it probably does.. little hint.. proper oil operating temperature in use is what matters, not temperatures being collected from a entire pan of oil allocated as one general reading and not where piston ring oil or bearing oil actually peaks and is what the motor is really using as you're driving.

If you fill up on half a tank that is good but if you always do that crud gets to the bottom of your tank and if you do go down to E then all that crud gets in so i always fill it up at a quarter tank so it burns some of that crud away so it doesn't build up.

My G35 ran through about 5 liters of oil during 4 days of some drifting after I topped it off. Some of the VQs burn through oil bad in higher mileage if previous owners didn't take proper care. Max NAVAS .....I currently live in Phoenix, but I am from Ohio. In Ohio, I refused to drive my car in the winter and I had a beater car, which was my first car the 240sx. That was 11 years ago and I do not miss the snow at all. The G37x is a great pick with all-wheel drive and an awesome car, but winters make driving difficult. I grew up with a 240sx driving in the snow which is rear wheel drive and I had plenty of scary moments because I lived in the country. With all-wheel drive you should be fine though.

Excellent tips....I love the sound of your G too! How did you get it to sound like that? I have a 2012 G37xS Coupe. I have the R2C intakes and stock exhaust. Also reprogrammed ECU with UPREV Osiris. The car performs much better with the tune BTW. Also I also let it idle. The Aircon tip is good but also make sure that you check you in-cabin air filter too. I use Shell V-Power w/Nitro. Best gas out there. If you're in Canada be aware that Petro-Canada has a 94 octane that contains Ethanol. Ethanol is not a good chemical for our cars because it causes carbon deposits and gumming up of the valves and injectors. The cheaper gases also contain Ethanol...and that's why lawnmower engine carbs are always failing.

You use the same amount of gas, also fill on half tank to keep pump submerged in fuel, runs cooler last longer and does not pick up trash that always settles to bottom of tank. When you fill up has no bearing on gas used, that is all about miles driven and how hard you drive.

  • @mycofairbanks3321

Bwahahahahahahahahaha! Go figure. With respect to gas, It costs the same to drive on empty as it does on full. Any certified public accountant will tell you that. In addition, I have a brother who is always broke and drives on E all the time. Had to drop his tank and replace his fuel pump to about $800. When I told him driving on E kills the pump, he said "No $#!+?, I drive on E all the time". So when you add the cost of the repair, it actually costs more money to drive on E

  • @r0llinlacs

Genjay Ksor i agree. The 2-3 gallon reserve on E is plenty to cool the fuel pump. It's bad to run out of gas completely, yes, but E? That's fine.

I did have a question though, when I turn off my car, I hear a rattle coming from underneath the car around the clutch/gearbox maybe, and only after its gotten warm. It's been like that since I bought it a year ago.

  • @MotordyneG35

Jonathan Riffe ......if the rattling does not get louder when you rev the motor, nothing to worry about. These cars, the G37 and G35 when you shut them off they make a rattle noise. The Flywheel is the noise as it stops spinning and it has springs on it being a dual mass flywheel.

G35 stock air intake is the best intake for the car, Infiniti (Nissan) designed it right. The gold stuff is heat wrap, because his intake temperatures were increasing massively from the metal pipe. OEM is plastic. Which to do you think adds more heat?

Dude it's been proven on DE engines that a CAI loses power. Your best bet would be the stock intake with a K&N filter or a Stillen Z Tube with a JWT Pop Charger paired with a Z intake pipe. There are countless threads on my350z and g35driver on how CAI loses power. They work wonders on the HR/VHR motors but not on the DE.

On the dyno.......my gain was 37whp/45wtq. Seen here......kzread.info/dash/bejne/e4d6sa2icbK6ndo.html Tuned Numbers: 283whp/270wtq Performance Mods: VQ35DE-REVUP motor - KW v3 Coilovers - Injen CAI - NWP 75mm throttle body - Motordyne MREV2 - Motordyne 5/16th spacer - Motordyne v3 ART pipes - Motordyne Shockwave TDX2 exhaust. It is true, I know Rob in Dallas Texas who wrote up the review at PRT performance on their mustang dyno which then bled over to all the forums. On all short air CAI is what people say, but they still call them CAI even though you are sucking in HOT air from the engine bay. It is a proven fact, you will make less power than the OEM rev-up box with the velocity stack.g35driver.com/forums/intake-exhaust/360896-dynoing-out-myth-intake-mods-results.html Go click on that link, look at the data logs on the excel sheet and judge for yourself. They are all short air intakes, NOT 1 is a long tube down in front of the bumper. Even though my filter is down in front of the bumper, I'm not impressed with it by any means. It makes like 2-3whp more than an OEM box, which is within the noise. It still tappers down by the MAF at 2.78 inches. ADMIN Tuning just released a new LONG tube intake down infront of the bumper and the key is the MAF is strait through at 3.5inches. Paired with a bigger throttle body at 75mm and on top of my already tuned car, I should gain another 16whp, just from the intake. In November, I'm taking my car back to dyno to see if these claims are true on this new intake from ADMIN Tuning. Video I created talking about Intakes here......kzread.info/dash/bejne/lXpnspWfkrLLeKQ.html

The only CAI proven to make power with the DE is the Momentum Motorsports CAI which places the filter on the bottom front bumper grill allowing a true CAI design. But the company went out of business. You will probably pick up more power with a stock revup intake box or pairing a Z tube with pop charger. That injen isn't doing you any good. But hey it's your car.
